I would think that volleyball players' explosiveness could transfer over to wrestling really well.
I think it’s more athleticism and fluidity than anything else and some sports have more of that than others.

There’s a reason why almost every single former football player that becomes a wrestler isn’t a 360 tub of lard from the offensive/defensive line, a quarterback, or a kicker.

What purpose did it serve to have Baron Corbin and Cass beat Trick and Jevon?

Like they couldn’t find a single job guy across their 75 shows and TNA or a local jobber to take an L against Cass, it had to be a potential future centerpiece of the promotion?

I don’t really care about his larger point, I just find it interesting that anything not inside the ring loses viewers for AEW.

Man. There was a point in like 2016, I started to realize, as a WWE fan, the high spots for me were mostly entrance, promo, finisher, and most of everything else was bleh. I started to wonder if I was just burned out and really didn’t love wrestling that much anymore. It took NJPW for me to remember “oh yeah, I actually do really love pro wrestling and not just the spectacle around it.

It’s why he gives away big matches on tv that’s what the fans want. I doubt the MJF promos drop ratings. Didn’t Alvarez blame the ratings dip on the overrun?

That’s part of the problem but the “normal” two-hour window was lower as well.

The show “only” had 1 hour of wrestling over 2.5 hours. Normally it’s right around 50%.

Ratings must have fallen off a cliff during that extended backstage segment with Kenny and Ospreay.

It also doesn’t help they had to condense the storylines b/c MJF and Thekla lost the belts after the challenger was determined so it isn’t the usual storyline build after the Owen winner

OTM getting called up is a choice. They were lucky to get on TV in NXT with just 6 matches this year and 6 last year. Never tag champs. Only once did they ever win a #1 contenders match. They’ve largely been so irrelevant down there that I went “who?” when I saw the posts about them debuting.

Other than inserting DCF into the men’s world title story, I’ve thought the build of the two world title matches has largely been good to great with several non-match segments being standouts. Actually some of the best non-match segments in company history, in my opinion.

It’s the rest of the All In build that has largely been blah for me. I feel like they’ve just had too many PPVs/big Dynamites between Double or Nothing and All In, it’s hindered the booking for All In and all those other shows.

In looking on Cagematch, no one has ever ran a wrestling show in Allen, Texas in my entire life and I'm 42 years old. Chances are if no one wants to touch an entire city with a ten-foot pole for a wrestling show, there's generally a good reason why.

So I don't know why they would even go there to begin with. It's smaller than where I currently live and no TV company has been here in over 30 years. Last time a TV company came here was for a WCW house show in 1992. As far as I can tell, no TV taping of any sort has ever taken place here.

WWF/WWE has never come her and barring some catastrophic changes to that company, they never will. ROH and TNA never came here, I can't imagine why they ever will. Perhaps AEW will come here one day since they sometimes like running small cities no one else would ever dare run.

Sure, Allen is a suburb of the significantly larger Dallas, which was probably the logic behind the decision, but it's also a 31-minute drive during the middle of the morning from Dallas according to Google. I'm sure the commute time would be much worse when people would actually be making the drive out there. And it's not serviced by any form of public transportation according to Wikipedia, so unless someone wants to pay for a 30+ minute Uber ride, it's basically eliminating anyone that doesn't have their own transportation.

People just aren't making that trip on a Wednesday night. Even on a Saturday that's stretching things. I know a guy that's been to every ROH/AEW show in the greater Dallas area and he always buys ringside seats. He's not going to this one because of the lack of public transportation.

It's stupid things like this that I just don't understand why they keep doing after 8 years. If you want to preach about how your tickets aren't affordable, don't run shows where the most affordable form of transportation isn't an option.

Saw the spoiler for the finish of the main event for the Smackdown that was taped last night. LOLTNA and WCW 1999 levels of stupidity.

Regardless people aren’t shelling out 30 a month for wwe even if they were paying 10 a month for peacock.
Axios allegedly (as what I read didn't have a link to the Axios report for me to verify) reports that around four out of five ESPN Unlimited subscribers get the app thru the Hulu and Disney+ bundle, so seems like quite a lot of people are actually paying for it.

I thought that was part of the Hulu and Disney bundle? Feels backwards to me - Do they get it as a discounted add on or pay the 30 on top of Hulu/disney?

It’s an add on. I have the Hulu/Disney bundle and I don’t get anything ESPN on there. I haven’t looked into the pricing because I’m not interested.

Now I think and dont quote me on this, but I have the bundle with all three, but I did not get the Unlimited through the package I had. I didn't get it until Spectrum made it a part of my subscription. At least I am pretty sure that is how it shook out.

Jesus...I don't know if she will ever get right from what seemed to be a relatively "minor" injury. That's awful.
I wouldn’t be surprised by if carpal tunnel was delaying her finger injury from healing too. Especially with the kid, she might be out long enough to make her realize being retired and spending time with the kid isn’t the worst idea in the world. I’m sure she could find something to do to make herself feel fulfilled beyond being a mother/wife without having to put herself through being a wrestler again.

Well there’s bundle with ESPN+ and there’s another with ESPN Unlimited if I remember correctly. Or maybe things have changed.

I think the ESPN+ bundle is the one that I have.
That's the one I have too.

So I believe it's the same guy who keeps reporting AEW does 500,000 viewers on Max every week posted something saying ESPN was dumping WWE once their deal was up. ESPN and WWE both say it's totally not true.

While obviously they have not officially decided one way or the other because that would be stupid, but, and this was posted before ESPN refuted that one part of the report...

It's always been a bit of an eyebrow raiser that ESPN has never once sent out any releases about WWE viewership when they an entire Twitter account dedicated for that. And they don't exactly limit it to the major things either, for example...

Like you're telling me if they are going to toot their own horn about the above the things that they wouldn't brag about WWE if it was doing big numbers relative to what they are paying for it?
