With the start of fall classes, we've finally got an updated roster to work with for the men's program:
Men's Wrestling 2026-27 - Iowa Hawkeyes Athletics - Official Athletics Website
I've confirmed each of the following absences/additions from last year's roster - including a last-minute Class of 2026 recruiting add in 4x Iowa state placer Michael Ryan (Mount Vernon):
Absences
133/141 – Jace Rhodes (5th)
174 – Ty Miller (2nd)
197 – Jake Howell (3rd)
285 – Ray Griffin (3rd) *JUCO commit from this May
Additions
133 – Ryan Crookham (5th) *Lehigh transfer
149 – Landen Davis (1st), Greyson Pettit (1st)
149/157 – Bobby Duffy (1st), Michael Ryan (1st)
165 – Carter Schubert (4th) *Oklahoma transfer, CJ Torres (2nd) *2025 greyshirt
197 – David Calkins (1st)
285 – Michael Mocco (1st)
In terms of eligibility notes, 2025 commit/greyshirt CJ Torres will be considered a '2nd year' athlete based on the new age-based rules. Meanwhile, Ryan Crookham could conceivably receive an additional medical redshirt year if he elects to go by the old eligibility rules, but the Iowa spokesperson I talked with did not know if Crookham has/will choose to do so.
