Yes - hopefully Greg is on the phone with Kenny Fletcher right now offering him a sweet deal.we should be playing this game too
This is that bull**** that spells the end of college sports.
Other than COVID and special exceptions/waivers hasn’t everyone for decades gotten 4 years? What makes the 2022s special? They were done playing and got their 4 under the then existing rules. Their academic/athletic careers were over not to mention there is a new class of high school kids coming in that will not have a spot because of roster limits. If anything, you would think the short term remedy is to increase roster caps to keep the high school kids from having nowhere to go.Why did the NCAA make this rule for only the 2022 HS Grads? Everyone else got at least 5 years of eligibility but these guys only got 4. Seems like they wanted a showdown & it blew up in their face.
Diego Pavia enters the arena. . . but nobody can see him.
Don’t be surprised if this happens.
Life can be unfair. Good lesson for them to learn at an early age. Now that you can pay players real money, having older experienced guys far out trumps a high school kid.I may be missing something here, but by allowing players that have already played 4 years under the rules in place during their career, collected their schollie/NIL/whatever, and moved on to pros or got jobs…these Judges are completely F’in the juniors and seniors in high school which I predict will be the next lawsuit. Those high school players that have been committed and played by the rules, have yet to step foot inside the locker room, collect their NIL, and may be with nowhere to go, are now getting pushed aside or dropped thanks to these losers suing to come back. How does a Judge choose former college players and sacrifice those in the next generation that have been preparing to realize their life long dream? None of it makes sense as the real harm/damage falls on the high school players.
Wow, the bigotry against short stacks is glaring. You should be ashamed. He did not get the job for a part of the Lollipop Guild in the remake of the Wizard of Oz, so he needs job.

This has nothing to do with fairness. Or if you want to go down that silly road how about life’s unfair for the 2022s who already got their shot in college (and clearly missed)…and having older experienced guys in terms of grown men currently on NFL rosters makes zero F’in sense in “college” sports. Just let the 2021s, 2020s, and every year come back = what makes the 2022s special? I’m sure there are 2019 players that never made the pros that are still in good shape and looking for a year of football and a NIL check.Life can be unfair. He hates spiders too?!The correct phrase is "vertically challenged" you arachnophobe!
Ben Mauk texting from a Cincinnati nursing home to his agent--"am I finally allowed to play a seventh season?"Matt Groethe still have eligibility?
Seems really shortsighted now, but when the rule change was made, the 2025 season was over and a class of 22 kid who played all four years had exhausted his eligibility and was on to real life. If he redshirted a year, he could still play in 26 anyway. The NCAA was thinking in terms of college kids playing sports, not professional athletes trying to land one last contract. Why did the NCAA make this rule for only the 2022 HS Grads? Apply it to the 21s…20s…why are the 22s special? The rule was passed on 6/23 so the 22s were not even in college at the time especially those praying for a NFL spot. It’s amazing they even have standing to bring a lawsuit as they were not student-athletes.Yeah that’s the thing - any 22 kid who took a redshirt still has eligibility. The players applying for this never redshirted. From their perspective, a rule was just implemented defining the parameters of an eligibility window to be 5 years from high school graduation or birthday. These players meet those requirements outside of the rule makers deciding that that these new rules will only apply to kids who entered college in 23 or later. It makes sense why the 22s are suing. The rule goes into effect this coming year and the 22s currently do meet the eligibility requirements stated except for the caveat that it will only apply to 23 class and beyond. Seems to me, if your putting this into effect now, it should apply to everyone the same as of the current year.

You are missing the point - these 2022 athletes were not in college at the time the rule was instituted. They were in training camps, working jobs, playing video games in their parent’s basement, etc. They were done - got their 4 years under the rules in effect during their career. Had the 5-5 rule been instituted in let’s say February while they were still on campus I’d be more inclined to see why the 2022s are “special”. And the Courts are focused on “harm” when it comes to injunctions. I would argue the greater harm is being felt by those incoming and first year players that are being dropped. They have no options as rosters are full and their ability to earn future NIL will be much less or even zero now. They are special because they meet the rule requirement.
And the 21s and 20s dont.
It's not that difficult to understand.
Eligible players for 2026: Within a 5 year window from graduating HS.
2020 players - their 5 year window ended in 2024.
2021 players - their 5 year window ended in 2025
2022 players - their 5 year window ends in 2026.
In 2027 - anyone within a 5 year window will be eligible. Regardless of prior years playing.
As mentioned, Tariq Francis (class of 2023) will be eligible for a 5th season despite having already played 4 seasons.
