WTH, not typical of my experience among State Fans. Apparently who ever vetted him did a piss poor job prior to his promotion.

I’ve lived in Mississippi virtually all my life. I doubt Ive heard that word a half dozen times in the last 20-30 years. You have some sh*tty relatives.

I’ve heard it way more than that in the last 20-30 years. But it is going away, at least among those who shouldn’t be uttering it.

I’m reserving judgement till it’s proven true. But if it is, I support his right to say it. I also support any consequences he experiences for saying it. No law against being dumb. Right Goat?

That ought to go over well with the walmart shooting.

Everything about that shooting just feels wrong and tragic.

If the folks in the car were really shoplifting and ignoring direct orders from LEOs, all with a toddler in the vehicle, obviously they created the situation for a tragedy.

But if all this racist crap that’s being reported about that police force is true, you just can’t allow that kind of cancer to continue. There’s gotta be accountability.

Their mayor and board of aldermen have not handled it well either.

Lived in DeSoto County and err body I grew up with said it especially their parents. My dad was a California Marine and made sure I knew it was wrong but I slipped up time to time back then something I'm not proud of and struggle a little to understand even to this day.

Appreciate the comments about my relatives though.

A little creative reporting. They should be fired

Only thing that’ll get a Mississippi Today reporter fired is an article about a black sheriff in Mississippi doing nefarious stuff.

I kid, I kid.

That correction doesn’t seem to change the takeaway that he may well be a bad choice temperamentally to head a police department.

NE Mississippi. Heard it all my life. (56 years) From family, friends, strangers, literally every category except my mother. Sometimes casually. Sometimes angrily. Hear it less now, but people who know me, won’t do it. Usually hear it from strangers who expect me to be fine with it. I’m not. It’s definitely less, but by no means rare these days. Mississippi can feel like the absolute best place on earth and the worst place on earth at different times and for different reasons.

There is literally nothing good that can come from posting that crap. It's strange what makes news these days.

I agree that it’s a terrible look. And Mississippi never needs more bad press.

But a police chief who talks like that in a town where the cops shot into a car and killed a back child is news. It just is.
