Needs to be the last Mormon pope ever tries to recruit
Welp, at least that doesn't force the decision between him and Mitchell.
We all knew it. BYU is owning Pope head to head. Wright was playing games, but still optics. Especially with national reporting over it. Then Chandler, now Jaxon. It was kinda obvious a dude who is like 15 minutes from campus would go there.

Mitchell in my opinion will be a better fit and I do believe we get him assuming this poltics iron out
His dad was pretty active with fans on X and seems like a pretty good dude.
Hopefully we got him a better payday. Once i saw where he was born and raised I never expected him here anyways.
I don’t think it cost us much if anything to take the call and we probably forced a competitor to pay more.

If I'm right in my line of thinking, Kohler's camp got the confirmation UK and Pope's primary target is Mitchell when he gets cleared. There's no reason to think he will not get the injunction to play.
Unfornuately for Kohler, he could've waited another day or two and (as long as it was before next monday) and ultimately followed thru the decision on Mitchell to see how that was going to pan out, then make a decision.
But it's best for him to go ahead and commit, since UK has prioritized Mitchell.
At least it makes sense to me. Apparently it did for Kohler too.
And I'm all good with it. Pope made his decision as to whom he was "all in for" and made that decision. It just had to play out this way because of the courts.

My favorite part was Jaxon’s dad doing all of these interviews saying no one knew anything…only for everyone to be right.
Why Pope continues to invite this type of negative PR is asinine to me. He’s lucky Mitchell will be committed in about a week so people will forget this “miss/whiff” but it’s still just being dumb.

Would rather have Mitchell in terms of upside...just worried we'll get screwed over and he won't be eligible.
Couldn’t Mitchell judge have a decision by tmrw or Monday?
I'd rather have the 3-headed MM(onster).... Momcilovic, Mitchell, Moreno. Kohler's rebounding would have been nice, but I think Mitchell is the better overall two-way player, AND Mitchell can absolutely take games over with a lot more consistency than Kohler.
Mitchell is definitely the higher risk-higher reward piece IMO.

I’d assume tomorrow but then Mitchell will have to enter the portal then make it look like there was some type of “recruitment” like Kohler did for a day.
I am not surprised, as I thought being Mormon would be the biggest draw to BYU for him. Hopefully, if it can be worked out, we land Mitchell.

He’s a good player. I figured BYU with the religious and local connection. I think it’s interesting BYU had more success in the ncaa tournament with their coach prior to Pope and more success in the postseason and recruiting with the new coach after Pope. Really makes you wonder why Brigham Young University basketball fans are way happier now that he is gone while so many Kentucky fans cling to the notion Pope is Hurley 2.0 and going to be great just because he played here.

I don't really care, but please stop losing recruits to BYU. In fact, just stop recruiting Mormons.
I’ve seen people say this was because of Mitchell. If Mitchell is a done deal why did UK have a 150 minute zoom with Kohler yesterday? Just to say no? I also worry that some high up people in the SEC are against Mitchell getting eligible and transferring to another SEC team.
You do your due diligence in case Mitchell is ineligible.
BYU > UK. We can’t even deny it at this point. They’ve won every. Single. Time.

They're pretty strict in their observance of these things. God always needs money, I guess.
