Your first sentence is a very fair point. I just feel as an inch taller than Momcilovic and much more athletic that those numbers should be higher.

Let me restate, I would be excited to get Mitchell. I just don’t think the difference he’ll make will be on the defensive side.

I believe the difference he would make is being a 6’9” guy that can create his own shot and score when things aren’t going so well. Also being able to see over most defenders and he’s a very good and willing passer.
Athleticism certainly makes playing good defense easier! But defense is more about EFFORT and playing SMART.

Looks like YOU are the one NOT using your BRAIN. Stats also demonstrate what I said, where Mitchell only averaged 1.2 STOCKs/gm. That's not good for a player playing 33mpg. That's 1 every 28 minutes. For comparison sake, the past 2 years the 2 worst non-guards for UK in STOCKs were Almonor (an atrocious 1 every 51 min) & Kam Williams 1 every 21 min.
So, both statistics/metrics and scouting reports say Mitchell is a bad defender.

What's your proof otherwise? Oh, "because you said so". :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I’m not even gonna lie I don’t know what a “stock” is

Mitchell does not defend well, and does not rebound well. So, now you are just making stuff up to support your case. Just be honest and say that you value offense much more than defense and rebounding. I may not disagree with that, but at least I would respect it.
Look bro Mitchell was a starting PF in the sec he obviously can guard enough to not be a major liability.

5 rebounds a game in the toughest conference is rebounding well maybe not half as good as a player of his size should but he averages more rebounds than like half our team

seems like you’ve never watched him play a game and are basing your opinion off of evan Miya statistical BS

They both hurt Kentucky when we played them, I don’t see how we could go wrong with either one of them. Mitchell can score and was unstoppable at times and Kohler is a physical player who can rebound and score too. Whoever commits first I guess, I would rather get one than lose both of them if waiting was the reason we lost both.

I vote Kohler by a smidge. He is Andrew Carr 2.0 and can slide into the Center spot to spell Moreno and gives us injury depth if Frank can't stay healthy or god forbid Moreno goes down. Mitchell is the better player in my opinion, but I think Kohler helps the team (as currently assembled) more with his versatility and rebounding.

Whichever one wants to come here the most. Kohler commits today I’m happy as hell. Mitchell in a week, happy as hell. I still like Son of Saul’s idea and think Pope should get both of them.

I would be happy with either one. That said, when the choice is between a star player and a role player at the same position I'm always going with the star and let the coach figure it out. Jimmy's and Joe's over x's and O's. Mitchell also creates a lot of foul trouble for opposing teams bigs that doesn't really show up in the stat sheet.

Seeing him play in the SEC for a couple of years, I was shocked at his rebounding numbers being that low. He's very physical offensively, I just figured that he rebounded.

You mean like Garrison could score and rebound good enough to not be a major liability. On this board we complained for 2 years about Oscar's defense, and Mitchell makes Oscar look like Anthony Davis on the defensive end (ok, maybe a slight exaggeration, but you get my point)

And for the rebounding, if you don't consider the minutes those come in you are STUPID. 4.6 rebounds per30minutes is BAD even in the SEC. How did UK (also an SEC team) players rebound the past 2 years?
Last year: Moreno 8.4, Dioubate 7.7, Jelavic 7.6, Garrison 7.5, Noah 6.5, Oweh 4.4, K.Williams 3.4, Johnson 2.6, Aberdeen 2.4
2yr ago: Williams 11.2, Garrison 6.7, Carr 5.8, Oweh 4.9, Kriisa 4.2, Robinson 3.7, Brea 3.4, Butler 3.3, Almonor 3.3, Chandler 2.9, Perry 2.6

And no, I watched lots of games that Mitchell played in. Don't get me wrong, I think he is a good player (he's a slightly bigger Oweh except for defense). He just does not fill our biggest NEEDS (rebounding and defense). I'd take him over Hall. Just not over Kohler, who does fill our biggest needs.
And no I don't rely on anyone individual's statistics. I look at lots of sources. And I am a STATISTICIAN, and know that those who call Statistics "BS" are often simply mathematically challenged.

How hard is it just say their steal and block averages lmao
Some people get more Steals, others get more Blocks, some get a mix of both. Both stats are an act of taking the ball from your opponent (albeit the one doesn't guarantee your team gets possession, but more often than not it does). So combining them into one stat does make some sense.

So your telling me right now that you think given 30 minutes of play time that Jelavic would average 8+ rebounds and Trent Noah would average 7+
I don’t think so

Sorry Mr statistician your WRONG.

it doesn’t matter looking like Kohler to BYU anyways

If we could have either player and they are eligible from the start, I prefer Kohler. But I would be happy with either one, as long as Pope can get one of them to sign.

Funny how often Pope seems to be up against BYU in recruiting these days, I'm guessing he didn't expect that when he took the job.

I'm not voting because... I just want to get one of them. Definitely not going to complain about either guy.

Idk why he wouldn’t he took Chandler and Jaxson Robinson the first year and every year since that BYU has had more money to spend which means he hasn’t been able to get as many guys from them.

I prefer Kohler, but both players raise the team's ceiling.

Mark brings great 1v1 ability and passing.

Kohler is a strong rebounder and great shooter.

Mitchell.

Everyone is focused on how MM played when he was a Missouri Tiger. Well, that was a completely different system and he had to be the man there.

Kohler is good, but he’s not the athlete Mitchell is, so I think Mitchell has the ability to transform into what this team needs.

But I wouldn't complain about either one, because they are both damn good players and both immediately move us up a notch, maybe 2.

Well then you are STUPID. Not to mention you rounded up (I think it was 7.6 for Jelavic and 6.5 for Noah). Not to mention from watching games I thought Noah was a pretty solid rebounder, I'm actually surprised he doesn't calculate out to the 7's. Maybe he just got "timely" rebounds.

Can’t we all just get along because Kohler said no to UK

Mitchell is as close to an Oweh replacement that we can get. Currently don't have anyone to replace Owehs 20 PPG in sec play.

Obviously not the same game as Oweh. Production wise tho we need an Oweh replacement. Yes I understand there's people that think the furman guard is going to be Prime mamba but I'm not one of them.

Give me Mitchell even tho it's not a choice anymore.

If we want to have a chance at winning anything meaningful you have to get Mitchell. If you're a UK fan to the core and love your cats no matter what then we are ok without him.

Some people are ok being mediocre and beating some big teams every year. Some people want Kentucky to win a national championship.

Not happening without him and even if we get him it's unlikely. You need Mitchell to have a chance imo. Without him we are just another good team. Not great not bad but right in the middle. Not what UK is supposed to be competing for.

Get it done Pope.
