I'm not disagreeing with what your MC alum friend said but it's just a different era and generation of kids that's all gimme and a lot of sense of entitlement. Now that money is on the table with College NIL deals and high schoolers getting agents it's just a new era that a lot of us are wrapping our heads around. Sad thing is it's going on at most schools. I know a ton of BR alums that are pissed that BR is no longer the "Neighborhood School" and they sold out but a lot of them were the same ones several years ago that were complaining that they never win.....damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Tell your MC friend that no student there is getting a free ride, someone is paying on their behalf either through a funded scholarship where it's funded through the family or the originators.....mostly alums. And back in our days at MC very few scholarships were given because not many existed because the cost of tuition was a lot lower because of higher enrollment and less expenses.....it was just the old building and a gutted out classroom as the weight room. Improvements and additions had to be made.
The way we were coached, disciplined, talked too, treated, it just wouldn't fly in today's time. I feel like the old guy when I was a kid saying "That damn Rock and Roll"

, but it's true.
