As you and I have discussed my derision for the DSA is not that it includes these things.

It is the bat sh*t crazy stuff that should not be welcomed by a major political party (abolishing police, taking over major corporations, house electing the president, etc).

But yeah, to MAGA I’m probably a socialist despite the fact I don’t want any government ownership of the means of production while Trump is all for it.
Then maybe the 'moderate' wind of the party would support the issues the people want. Then they wouldn't have to support DSA members. Until that time, stop blaming them for supporting the people who will do what the people want them to.

I still don't know who Piker is. Is he Liberal Joe Rogan - taken in by the next shiney object that tickles the liberal fancy, or is he Liberal Tucker Carlson - smart but far too opportunistic and willing to echo chamber the Left for wealth, fame, and power?

LOL.... No wonder you still believe in the democratic party.

He's Hasan Piker. Period. Carlson and Rogan are perfectly normal compared to Piker.

A lot of moderates seem to want to live above the system that actually exists and can moderate candidates, seemingly in favor of the hope that if enough of them take no action things will shift to their liking.

I disagree. To me moderate doesn't mean having nothing to stand for...it means recognizing neither party has a monopoly on good (or bad) ideas.
The GOP is absolutely bereft of ideas beyond making the rich richer and keeping fewer than a dozen trans people from participating in sports. Oh... and kissing Trump's cratered ***.

Sorry Belem, but I call them like I see them. I don't see why the "any port in a storm" philosophy makes any sense when the port people are choosing is literally advocating for Soviet Union style socialism. I am all for Sweden or Denmark or Canada style social services, but the DSA platform is WAY to the left of that.

So I call them like I see them and from what I see the DSA are off the reservation with an unworkable platform and morons for spokespeople. Sometimes the tent should not be as big as the dems try to make it.

I voted too far right for the Repubs and I'm not sure what to vote for with the Dems. The normal Dems are not too far left but many of the loudest ones are way too far left.

Hard to be the leader of a cult of the members don't know who he is.

LOL... He's your cult leader. That's who he is.

Google is your friend. You should understand what is going on with your own party and who is leading it.

So your position is that Mamdani is going to try to implement soviet style socialism in NYC?

Try? Maybe...not sure. Succeed? No chance. There are too many guardrails for it to be successful. My big beef has been the philosophy and embrace of a failed economic system that simply cannot work.

This was my literal field of study in undergrad (comparative economic systems between socialist countries and capitalist countries). Imagine you had the fact base of history behind you and you watch people who are too young to have experienced the reality of socialism be fooled into thinking it is somehow a better model than it has ever proven to be. I guarantee you would be upset by this. Why do I know this? Because it is akin to the right's embrace of facism which is similarly a failed political model and I am sure you are certainly aghast at that. As it happens so am I...but I also think this leftward lurch towards the DSA is very foolish on the part of the far left dems.
