Unhinged comment. Dylan had 31 TDs and nearly 5000 yards passing at NU with a 70 completion % as a true freshman and sophomore at NU while having multiple OCs in his freshman year and breaking his leg in his sophomore year. HB was 1-10 passing at Nebraska. He completed one pass. Absolutely insane.

Nebraska is so bad, the coaching staff so incompetent that a kid looking to make 2-4 million, break all sorts of records at his dad's alma mater is willing to leave for much less money, to sit as a backup on a good and competent program. This is an indictment of the leadership of NU not the 20 year old who was going to break many records at NU.

The truth will likely come out this year and he will just be a canary illuminating a future collapse like Wandale was...when talented people leave you are in trouble.
You need to cheer for another team . Problem solved.

I reject the notion that DR actually has better than slightly above average "arm talent". He cant throw an over the middle crossing pattern --or for that matter any crossing pattern correctly leading his receiver. has terrible footwork and zilch deep ball accuracy. he doesn't put any ZIPP on his ball either and gets poor spin. I sit here today in Moose Pass Alaska and stand by my statements that I made as far back as 5 games into his cosplay stay at Nebraska.

Dylan was not very good. Anthony will be a huge improvement. Possible Heisman contender. All he needs to do is get over his 16 fumbles and improve on his 49-29 TD to INT ratio. No big deal.

I don't remember Dom when he was 18 and leading a team of grown men, and incompetent coaches. Nebraska's 2023 offense was one of the worst in history and he had to walk in as a true freshman and take that on. He had Satt as an OC, his uncle as an oline coach. He performed admirably publicly, in the media, and on the field considering. I never expected him to last more than two years. If everything went perfect he would have been drafted, if everything didn't go perfect he would transfer to try to win something and get better coaching. It was always going to be the latter and we all knew it. He was actually one of the few top qbs to even return to their team after one season, which is pretty impressive.
It doesn't change the fact that we got the best he had to offer, which was mediocre at best. For the program to improve we needed a change at QB, to part ways with his overbearing family, and to free up NIL money.

This is 100% accurate. The guy throws mostly floaters. He actually makes it harder for the receiver to get YAC because he forces them to get his throw and doesn't hit them in stride. For a pocket passer he is very subpar.

I don't think anyone believes AC will be an NFL caliber talent, but if he can run this offense effectively it will be enough. Take EJ off last year's team and tell me what record we have.

Certainly didn't have a lot of chances to be that pocket passer when the OLine sucked balls his entire time in Lincoln.

I walked beans at my great uncle’s farm near Albion. Hated it but he gave me home brewed beer without my parents around. I was only 10 or so which made that a sweet deal in my eyes. I hated walking beans though. One year I was using a hoe and it was muddy as hell. I was barefoot because my boots kept getting stuck in the mud. Came down with the hoe and hacked into three of my toes. Blood gushing everywhere. My older brother carried me back. Got stitches. And more beer. 😂
Who was your great uncle? I spent some time around Albion back in the day.

Arthur Sarem. His family homesteaded the farm beginning in the 1880’s. 400 acres. Raised Black Angus beef. Been dead now for about 50 years. Don’t know who owns it now.

He was on track to break all sorts of qb records at NU....he was a semifinalist for freshman of the year. He was playing even better as a sophomore and was leading us to a win over USC to go to 7-3 when he broke his leg. He was good, not great and this is without coaching, accountability, and a competent predictable system.

What it did reinforce is that no 5 star should ever come to Nebraska, you will not get developed, you will not be protected...the adults in the room will lay everything at your feet because of their own incompetence, you will end up broken and when you leave the fan base is too stupid to recognize your talent.

Who cares?

50 and 60 year old dudes getting offended by a 20 something.

Looking much more foreward to a QB that can avoid sacks.

And yet here you are commenting on it. You were free to see the post’s title and just ignore it. So wtf dude? Do we really need another comment about how irrelevant comments are if they don’t line up with your comment interests?
Furthermore, it was also a comment praising our new QB Coleandra for his maturity. Which is a topic of interest to many. What kind of leader will he be in the locker room? Team chemistry is a huge deal. Raiola was a drag on team chemistry. I think Coleandra will be a huge step up
Are we still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? I mean Dylan Railoa

Dylan Raiola=Harrison Beck
Overhyped and overrated 5 star high school player. He will last at Oregon about one year before moving on.
This overrating happens a lot, which calls into question some of these ratings. Often times what you are getting with a five star QB is a player who has already hit their ceiling in high school. And then they come into a P4 school with an inflated ego that does not match their actual talent.

There's still time... he has eligibility and now with 5 for 5 just think of the possibilities!

And I am not talking athletic talent. Just saw an interview with Coleandra where he was asked about UNLV. Said nothing negative. Had praise and appreciation for his former coach who he called a father figure. Spoke of how difficult it was to leave there. In other words, he said all the right things. He said the things a mature person says. What a humble and decent person says.

Compare that to Raiola’s immature smack talk about Nebraska cornfields and our lack of talent. Even if you think that, out of gratitude for the $millions we gave him and the love we showed him, he should have kept his mouth shut or just mouthed platitudes about being “grateful but it was time to move on”. He said the things instead that an arrogant and immature person says.
I also wonder if the Raiola family as a whole hasn’t poisoned the wells with bitterness. We did fire his uncle after all.
It's just kind of the way entitled young athletes think these days. They go to all of these camps which parents pay a fortune for. They are recruited now in JHS and HS and promised huge sums of money yet they totally lack mental maturity. I miss the days of the 70's, 80, 90's and even the early 2000's when college football was not controlled by huge sums of money to the coaches and now players. Indiana surprised everyone last year but realistic how many schools are able to compete for the NC? I say about 10 at most. Yeah I will watch some games this year but the first four of so games for each school are just warm ups. Watch the first half and then go do errands or go to bed.

The sad part is that I don’t think he’s as unathletic as his fear of taking a hit makes him look. I still believe he’s athletic enough at that size to be an efficient runner in scramble situations. He didn’t have to be Crouch to move the chains.
He had a few runs that were surprising. But only a few. He is a decent enough athlete to effectively scramble. Either he has been coached to avoid it or he never had to develop that instinct. And from what I saw of his HS film, he sidestepped blitzers effectively at that level. But that ain't the B1G. Hell, QBs don't get to hold the ball for 5-6 seconds in most college FB conferences.

Probably the first full beer I had was a Ballantine Ale my old man gave me after we loaded the last grain truck of the day.

They ran a little zone read option with him in that Polynesian all star game in Hawaii. He looked okay running the ball there. I was generally unimpressed by his passing in that game.

Was wondering what took so long for this. I never disliked the kid. Didn't care for the slick cornfield reference but otherwise he wasn't wrong.

But yes he rarely if EVER put ball on an open deep WR. He would almost always lob a pass up and end up putting a WR in a jump ball situation where it should've been a TD. Or just flat out under throw guys.

I was never impressed with his arm strength even though he could throw it 75 yards. He rarely zipped passes. They all seemed lobbed or guided. Almost like he was aiming. Kid was accurate short and I'll give him that but otherwise it wasnt the best.

Our OL was atrocious with and without DR

Absolute trash unit

Emmett is Barry Sanders too lol.
Though OL wasnt good at pass pro. But Dylan did them no favors holding on to the ball and being a statue in the pocket. Can't blame them for that inner tube Dylan wore for 2 years either. So like most things it was somewhere in the middle where both sides deserve some blame.

So I'm assuming the OL run blocked well right? Or is EJ the next Barry Sanders? OR even better is Barthel the assistant coach of the year with his development of EJ?

😆 🤣 😂....looking forward to your answer sir.

EJ did it all by himself

One of the greatest individual efforts in NU history

Broke 2x more tackles than any other back in week 1 of preseason this weekend, too

For those saying he doesn't step into his throws...
1. Imagine your unc is the offensive line coach of the worst pass protection unit in the country
2. Your dad will kill your unc if you get hurt
3. The coaching staff cannot effectively create a safe pocket so they create a system where you literally back away from contact and throw in a short passing game.
4. Any time on 3rd and long you try to stand in you get killed, end up breaking your leg.
5. Fans criticize you when you don't throw deep when everything called is either a clear out or a short pass because the line can't protect long enough.
In a competent situation he would have sat as a freshman and learned how to throw with decent protection...he is going to do that this year and maybe the next. We'll see if he is better.

So the next Barry Sanders it is!! 😂😂😂

I love EJ I really do. But I have to laugh when I hear takes like this. OL sucks and didn't block anyone. RB coach can't coach his way out of a paper bag. RB did it all alone. Sounds good. NFL should be a piece of cake.

Come on bruh you can get your point across without falsifying stuff.

5. Dylan had ample opportunity PLENTY of times to throw deep. When he did he lobbed up passed to some open guys which gave DBs time to recover and catch up. More time than not they were under throws OR he just held the ball.

1. Not good for sure but worse in the country? False again.

2. Maybe 😂

What are we gonna do about how having an all BIG RB should've opened him up to really throw it down the field but he was never accurate enough deep to do it.

Also what are we gonna do about that fade that he hasn't learned to throw in 2 years? That in the OL too? Or is that on the OC? Or the QB coach? Or is it his "personal" QB guru?...OR are we gonna give him some blame for the stuff that he COULDNT/DIDNT do well?

If I didn't know any better I'd think you was Dom with how you deflecting blame for anything that kid did wrong.

Was he put in a tough situation? You damn right he was. Do RHule and company get some blame for that? You damn right they do. But let's not act like his dad didn't WANT that. He came to UNL because his family WANTED him here. They knew exactly what that meant. You don't get to ok everything and then when **** goes left blame the coach and act like your son did no wrong on the field.

Say what you like Rhule can't throw the deep ball to open WRs for him. He also can't throw that fade in the end zone to him. Rhule doesn't "lob" and "aim" passes to open receivers 35+ yards down the field. HES gotta own that. Just as the OL has to own when they blow pass pro and he gets killed immediately. He's gotta own when he has ample time and sits in the pocket like a statue and just holds onto it forever and gets sacked . While some guys look to blame "others" for it.

He's a big boy. Got paid a lot of money. Wish him well. But as fans we need to place blame for all. This stuff was never one way regardless of how we try and paint a picture. Dom, Dylan, Rhule and even Donnie all have plenty of blame to go around. Nobody gets a pass imo.
