There have been 20 incidents of gun violence in schools in the US.

For comparison’s sake, there are fewer than 10 known transgender athletes competing in sports.

Discuss.
What’s there to discuss?

We have a culture and legislative/judicial problem, not a 2nd Amendment one. Transgender people are real people, deserve respect, deserve to be valued, and shouldn’t be subject to bullying and harassment. There also shouldn’t be biological males competing in girls sports, as they are separated by sex, not gender, for a reason.

I see this from both the left and MAGA Idiot Brigade all the time. And I don’t understand it. Why do you guys think putting out a false dichotomy (and weird ones to boot) somehow strengthens whatever rhetorical point you believe you are trying to make? I can promise you, it doesn’t strengthen a damn thing.

Never miss an opportunity to both sides a catastrophic public safety threat with a statistically negligible anomaly.

My personal opinion, these are two completely unrelated subjects. You don’t want a discussion. You want to start a right vs left argument. Congrats, you’re a fvcqing moron.

The right makes one of those subjects a pillar of its 24 campaign that continues to trigger its mouth breathing supporters and completely ignores the other. Not much of an argumemt, just a simple.fact that you seem to be cool with

Only in America do we have to worry about how to defend our students against school shooters. After Sandy Hook it was chosen that guns were more important than the lives of children. One kid dies from a lawn dart - banned!! The number one killer of children in America? None of y’all want to do sh.it about that. Guns are more important than the right to live. It’s really that simple until changes are made. Another thing, again, that the rest of the civilized world does better than we do.

16 Since Jan 1st to Aug 3rd.

But you are claiming 20 since August First?

Nobody miss this gem. He said incidents involving guns. That includes more than school shootings.

Imagine flexing over "only 16 school shootings" and thinking you're making a reasonable point. A decent society would move heaven and earth to make it 0.

I don’t know where to begin with this it’s so fugging stupid.

Give your prediction of what would happen if all guns were banned tomorrow. Go.

So the REST OF THE WORLD is stupid, but you gun guys are the smart ones? JFC. Refute what I said. Kids were and continue to get MASSACRED. What gets done about it? Nothing. What’s the number one killer of kids if it isn’t guns? Don’t act like it’s not guns. It’s guns.

Australia hadn’t had a mass shooting in a decade. When they have one they actually ATTEMPT THINGS. We don’t.

Also, I’m not for a full on gun ban. I am for banning weapons that were created to kill mass quantities of humans. They are unnecessary. There isn’t a NEED for them. Some just WANT them.

Seems pretty simple. The right is obsessed with where a tiny percent of the population goes to pee, while ignoring kids getting killed. It's a matter of priorities. The SCOTUS has ruled, but every Republican in Iowa is running on GuRLz SpORtZ.

The number one killer of children in the US is abortion. Second place isn't even close and it's also not gun related.

I was actually trending towards gum restrictions, and then covid happened. Once I saw what the government was willing to do I decided I needed more guns.
Make sure you go and pick up a suppressor or two now as well. No more ATF screening required :)

We should try to stop this too

Chicago homicides in 2026: 253 people slain.
We can't stop it! PedMaller already told us trans people are 16x more likely to kill, so obviously we need to identify the trans people responsible for those 253 Chicago homicides and deal with that group first. Can you pull the data and tell us how many of the 253 were trans? You know... for the sake of the data-driven approach. 😏

Both are caused by mental illness.
Oooh what a smart, not lazy answer. If that trite soundbite had an ounce of sincerity to it, it should make you wonder why Trump gutted funding for mental health programs. I bet it doesn't, though. I bet you haven't spent a single second pondering that one. I also bet you send all the Ts & Ps that you can muster.

We could start with an accurate claim.

No, the claim of exactly "20 incidents of gun violence in schools in the US" is not accurate as a standalone or total figure; it depends entirely on the definition and time frame, and under common trackers the numbers are either lower (for narrow definitions in a single recent year) or far higher (broader definitions or multi-year totals)

One of the "20" (AI claims 17) was not actually on a school campus. It was at an aduly community resource center

Okay, Tom, so here goes:

1. America has a culture problem and a too lenient judicial system problem. That’s the first issue.

2. You know what else is unique about America compared to most of the world? Obesity. And lots of it. Banning deep fat fryers should solve the problem, right? IMG_3280.jpeg
So, let’s talk about getting rid of Hostess products and Popeyes first then we’ll get to violating the second amendment.

3. Again, what is your solution for getting rid of guns? I hear all the time the Liberal Idiot Brigade cry, “Guns, guns, guns!” like they are Jan Brady, but I never hear a practical approach for how to violate the second amendment or a solid explanation for how making most/all guns illegal will put so much as a dent in the problem.

So, tell us, Tom. Convince us how completely axing the second amendment is going to stop gang violence and public mass shootings. I’m all ears (or eyes in this case).

Simple, return it to what the Founders said, and not what the Federalist cult wants. "A well regulated militia"... Have all the guns you want, just follow a few rules. Violate those rules, lose your guns. You need to pass a test, get your eyes checked, and drive a car on a probationary period to get your full license. You need insurance to drive. Every few years you have to pay a fee and get your eyes checked again. It's pretty simple.
