Because he got caught. So stupid. Cameras everywhere. I will die for the CCL but MC guys don’t try and sugarcoat this nonsense. Arrogance. We get it, you’re good. But stop sharing film of every practice like you guys are 85 Bears. You are embarrassing the CCL. Frank would have never put up with this.

100 percent agree. The inept Elmer Fudd honest mistake lie is embarrassing for a four time defending champion. It’s not a major strategic advantage but it IS a real bad look and damaging to the integrity of the program. Own it and move on.

And upon further review, the two practice penalty is absurd. Lemont volleyball, through actual ineptitude and not a contrived lie, didn’t know 36 regular season matches was one too many a few years ago. A few days before regionals began they were barred from postseason play that season. Pretty sure people lost their jobs for that one.

wouldn’t be shocked to see other programs point out inconsistencies like that. Lemont got the hammer dropped for a similar volleyball mistake a few years ago. MC just gets to self impose a pretend slap on the wrist? If people bark up that tree long enough they will likely get traction for a more suitable punishment.

Makes you wonder what other rules they may or may not have broke due to an "honest mistakes' .

I’m torn on this

it is obviously not a good look

if Illinois ever wants to be able to compete with Florida, Georgia, Texas and California

I believe that the IHSA needs to open up a little on the practice regulations

All of those states also have regulations regarding full pads to start the season.

I'm surprised that people are actually surprised/angry about the outcome. The IHSA is just like any other governing body in existence. At the end of the day, there is one set of rules for the elite (private schools) and another set for everybody else (public schools). Always has been, always will be.

A bit dramatic. How about some examples.

From now on, everyone must change their underwear every 30 minutes. And you must wear your underwear on the outside, so we can check.

In 1994 MC wrestling team wrestled in one too many tournaments even though it was the JV team that wrestled and not the Varsity and they were also banned from State Team competition which lead to lawsuits and eventually ended up with the team State Duel meet being cancelled.

They did own it. MC contacted the IHSA and basically turned themselves in for lack of a better word. Craig Anderson said MC cooperated fully and their punishment was the same as other schools that have violated the same rule in the past. The reason I brought up the wrestling teams infraction is because precedent had been set, same reason why Lemont volleyball for the same punishment. MC got the same penalty other teams have got....we just didn't hear about those other teams because they aren't MC.

I posted on earlier post the same thing you did before this punishment was handed down. If you did something wrong own it. They did. But people want more and are saying MC is favored. No they aren't, they wore football pants to practice a day earlier then they were supposed too....they weren't holding secret practices in April and they haven't been doing this all summer!! Should they forfeit the season or be banned from postseason for wearing pants? Did it give them any advantage? No. Honestly I thought he would get a one game suspension and that would have been more then fitting but like Anderson said, they gave them the same punishment as they had given other schools.....and I have no idea what other schools had gotten caught doing the same because nobody really gave a crap.

He made a mistake and error in judgment. Not too many coaches can throw the first stone here...they just didn't get caught. I know him well enough to know this won't happen again.
