Doesn't want you? Are you messaging us from an illegal settlement in Israel?

You should understand the DSA requirements. They don't want any Zionists in their organization. I get it, it's easier for you to blindly follow than actually have a thought. There's very MAGA of you.

Where does it explicitly state that and where do other parties state that they want zionists?

The most fervently anti-zionist people I know are both Jewish and DSA supporters. But sure, we're all just MAGA out here because we disagree with you.

Maybe instead of laughing at posts you should do some research. Read about DSA Resolution 22 and what it means. Below is a link to the Orlando DSA and it specifically says, "We hope with R22 and our own local resolutions that we further solidify that no Zionists will be allowed in DSA. Not today and not tomorrow." You really should educate yourself instead of aligning with anything that isn't trump.

You can take your opinion and shove up your @$$. I don't care how many companies trump is extorting from. You idiots have spent that last 12 years focused solely on trump to the point you don't even see the next threat to our democracy. You're willing to accept evil just because that evil is against trump. You people are fools. Any group that is anti-Zionist will easy be anti-Christian or anti-Anything down the road. It's called extremism and you're ok with it, but there's no way I will.
Thank you for acknowledging you’re pro-communist. Now we all know what we’re dealing with. I appreciate you outing yourself, Yuri.

The DSA is actively Anti-Zionist. That's extreme. If they were Anti-Christian, I would call them extreme. If you want to be Anti-Zionist, you should have said that earlier.
Every post you prove my point. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

i'm able to parse a difference between anti-zionism (especially what zionism has morphed into today) and anti-semitism

i realize it's a widely held belief among some that those are fundamentally the same thing. i don't agree with that. it's not substantively different (to me) than people saying criticizing actions of the state/govt of israel is anti-semitic.

zionism is essentially jewish-nationalism. we can talk about the contextual differences between that and christian nationalism (of which there are many), but i think you absolutely be against a religious/enthonationalism without it automatically or necessarily progressing to persecuting or discriminating against that religion or ethnicity.

Imagine your friend has a bunch of neighbors who wanted him and his rather large family dead, because they were different from the neighbors, and allegedly stole their special land. They've explicitly stated this ... like ... a lot. "We want them dead ... it's all we want ... it's what we live for." They've even acted on it, killing members of your friend's family before. You've supported him during this period of time, and, in return, those neighbors of his have killed some of your family, too. At some point, the neighbors launch a horrific sneak attack, killing more of his family members. In return, your neighbor retaliates and kills a bunch of his neighbors, and keeps hunting for more of them, as they go hiding. And you decide that his retribution is too much, so now you support the neighbors who killed his family members, and your family members. Even though they still want to kill your friend, and you.

I really wish people would stop correlating having a moderate position with being pro corporate money in politics. I bet if you surveyed regular moderates you would find most of us are against Citizens United and corporate involvement in politics. It just happens that many career politicians happen to be moderate and also in the corporate sway.

But having a ruling class carve out financial benefits for themselves is not unique to moderates or capitalists or the United States. I can point to EVERY socialist nation throughout history and demonstrate that the same tendency for the controlling few to carve out elite benefits for themselves. In fact it seems to me to be more of a thing in socialist countries than capitalist countries historically.

Moderates aren’t the problem, corporate influence in politics is the problem. I am all for voting out Schumer, Jeffries et al, but I won’t vote for a socialist as a replacement.

The next moderate candidate to not be a protector of corporate interests will be the first.

i'm fine with saying I don't support the DSA

i'm not fine with saying I don't support any politician that has ever had a connection or been accused of a connection with DSA

i don't think every political movement or ideology that I disagree with is an insidious plot

You need to take Top Gun a lot more seriously to get there.

What happened the last time the DNC put their finger on scale in favor of moderate candidate over a democratic socialist?
The immature extremists pouted and didn't vote, rather than supporting the team ... and that preferred moderate didn't win, and another extremist won and the country went to sh.it. Thanks for reminding us that extremists aren't team players and extremists are bad for the country.

Now you were saying something about how we should be good boys and girls and support the less popular extremist ... otherwise an extremist will take power ...

And?

This does nothing to address anything I said. Other than that ... gold star.

AI Overview

Yes, the vast majority of Bernie Sanders primary supporters did vote in the 2016 general election, with roughly 74% to 80% casting their ballots for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

However, post-election data analyses (such as the Cooperative Congressional Election Study) revealed that a notable minority of his primary voters chose alternative paths:

    • Voted for Donald Trump: Approximately 12% of primary voters who backed Sanders crossed party lines to vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump. This crossover group was large enough in number to exceed Trump's margin of victory in crucial swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
    • Voted Third-Party or Skipped: Another 12% to 14% of Sanders supporters chose to vote for third-party candidates (such as Jill Stein or Gary Johnson) or did not cast a ballot in the presidential race at all.

So, not only did a notable portion of Sanders supporters just sit the election out entirely, and others voted for other "left" options, but a good number actually voted for a far-right extremist, instead of the far-left one. Extremist to extremist, rather than far left to less far left or middle. As I said ... if only the extremists had been team players, Hillary would have won. Instead, the extremists allowed Trump to take power ... and now they're crying that it's their turn, and the moderates better get on board and help them take power. Fawk off.

Oh, and how I voted ... primary/general: Obama/Obama; Obama/Obama; Rubio/Hillary; Biden/Biden; didn't vote/Kamala

So it’s a binary choice in your mind? We either get an addled octogenarian or we get young socialists?

That’s pathetic if that is the best the Dems can do. I’m as anti-Trump as they come, but I won’t vote for a socialist, because socialism does not solve the problems we have. And if you think it does you were not paying attention in history class.…

…kind of like MAGA and fascism honestly.

Slippery slope. I remember when the GOP said Project 2025 was just a vision.
I hear the same things about the DSA platform and honestly it feels like a playbook too.

Socialism sounds great until you (1) have to pay for it and (2) until the socialists get a taste of power. Do me a favor: name one socialist leader who ever brought growth and prosperity to their nation above the capitalism average. Just name one please.

But you can’t, because there are none.

Look, I’m all for things like Medicare for all. Just drop all the DSA nonsense. It is horsesh*t garbage and y’all are going to fumble the ball at the goal line in 2028 if you keep heading down this asinine path.

I understand why you don’t want the Schumers of the world. I don’t either. But can’t we just have the Buttigieg brand of dem? Why do you have to put forward people who don’t like f*cking Thanksgiving for goodness sake?

That's not even close to what I said. You being afraid the policies of a fairly unpopular and small group of people will catch fire does not mean I am stuck in a false dichotomy. I simply think you and everyone else acting like these handful of candidates with dsa by their names are a Trojan horse are making a mountain out of a molehill and it's leading to smart peopke saying dumb things like, They Have To Disavow These People!, when they don't even live in the same state or district as the candidates.

It comes across as panicky, shallow and reactionary considering the state of national politics.

Again calling it a small thing done by a few people is literally what MAGA said about project 2025. So from my perspective your embrace of an ideology that is unworkable, with no historical basis for success seems misguided, shallow and uneducated. Absolute MAGA vibes.

I have asked this multiple times here and no one has answered yet: if the DSA is only a molehill, and if it is not worth our time, then it should be trivial for the Dems to simply disavow it. But y’all seem to be embracing it, which I find to be peak lunacy. I thought the Dems were students of history, but I guess not! If that comes across as panicky then so be it. I would rather speak my mind then stay silent while the only semi-sane party tries to swing so far to the left they leave the rest of the country behind and lose my vote (and that of millions like me) in the process.

As to being in a different district than me sure. But I see the trend, the trend is not positive and so I voice my opinion on the trend. Keep in mind I studied comparative economics and as part of those studies lived in Russia just after the Soviet Union ended. I’ve seen socialism‘s impact firsthand. You really, REALLY should not be embracing socialism. It does not work.

We are just going to disagree on the seriousness of the only semi-sane political party embracing socialism. As to the socialist/MAGA stuff about you - I should not have implied you are a socialist or MAGAesk. What I was clumsily trying to say is that MAGA also down-played their own radical pseudo-fascist ideology as “no big deal” only to immediately execute their playbook when Trump took office. So this feels eerily similar to MAGA and therefore I don’t understand why anyone on the left would defend the DSA. But many of you are.

Anyway it is clear neither of us is going to sway the other so I will leave it there. Have a good night.

I don't know who I'll vote for but I won't be voting for anyone associated or accepting of the DSA. The fact that you didn't know about Resolution 22, do you think maybe you should actually do the research on the DSA, rather than blindly voting for them. Based on your history, I don't expect you to make any type of informed decision.

@dpic73 Care to come back and comment about how you feel now. After reading the last two pages, do you now see that there are multiple posters who actually are supporters and willing to vote for the DSA. You were thinking the DSA was a fringe group that no one actually supported. Hopefully you now see the truth and why there is a valid concern.

You keep getting 'defend' conflated with not being so scared I start freaking out about Dearborn MI. When this same group of people have hours of proof of them lying and carrying water for an authoritarian, I'll have joined you in your concern. Until then, don't hold your breath waiting to see me roundly and impotently denounce political candidates and threaten to vote third party in a race not yet decided.

This is all so familiar it's comical. I have never voted for a socialist or even been interested in standing with the tumbleweeds at the Johnson County Communist booth at the local farmers market. Yet, for my entire adult life I have had socialism and communism tossed at me as an insult or an attempt to scare me away from speaking about politics.

It doesn't work because it's hollow and devoid of historical context.
