I don’t think that would survive a legal challenge. Not sure how Congress has the authority to mandate a limit on the number of teams a conference can have.
The same authority they have to impose anti-competitive legislation to limit how much of a sector an entity can control. They USED to be assertive in this arena. Not so much these days.

It's a MAGA Congress that bows to a dictator and funds illegal wars but can find no money for health care, education, housing or anything else--unless it benefits billionaires. What the hell would you expect?
Really. Did you stay up all night thinking about what to write. So sad.

FSU would be welcomed into the BIG. They bring academic and athletic value. It gets the BIG into the Florida market. Miami has absolutely no value to the conference.

other way around.
I agree.

If they want to get into Florida, then Miami is the best option. I also think that they would prefer GT over FSU as the “travel partner” to come with them…if the “19-max” rule isn’t implemented.

With all of that, ND is still the ONLY remaining target that makes sense or the conference really wants, and maybe Stanford if ND demanded that they also be added to seal the deal.

I like to watch Colin Cowherd's show. Yes, he is an arrogant blowhard, but he's pretty smart and does his homework.

He says CF is the best it's ever been. More kids staying in school. Teams with more experienced players that can run more sophisticated offenses and defenses. Talent can join forces at a place like Indiana, and with the right coach can win a Natty.

In short, it's becoming more like the NFL. And since the NFL is the most popular sport in the country he counts that as a good thing.

I think he's missing a key point - we already have an NFL. Do we need two?

Besides, the NFL has intentionally established a system that creates parity. There is a salary cap. Bad teams get to draft the best players. Top teams have tougher schedules. Math determines the playoff participants, not judgment. The smart, well-run organizations tend to float to the top. There are only 32 teams in the NFL and it's less about money and more about the organization and players assembled.

The FBS has 136 teams, and it's entirely about money. The more money you have, the higher your chances of winning and getting to the playoffs. And you can spend any amount of money to make your team better.

In life, the one's with the most money win. Sports, particularly college sports, shouldn't be entirely about money.

Wrong. The BIG has no interest in a small private university in Miami. FSU is a major research institute which is very important to the BIG.
Let's list out how bad this argument is. If you would like, I can continue with more of a list than this. There is almost no argument for FSU over Miami.

1.) USC is a private school
2.) Miami ranks 61st in the country for research funding
3.) They made the natty last year
4.) The majority of the population in Florida is in the south.
5.) Miami is in the AAU
6.) Florida State is not a member of the AAU
7.) Florida State currently sits with a $437 million dollar debt in their athletic department

Academics no longer matters, it’s just a bottom line revenue business. Of course Miami is the better program/financial decision.

Wisconsin and Michigan both voted against Nebraska for the AAU . I would agree that for the right program it might not matter as much, but it is certainly a variable to pay attention to.

How long ago was that ? id say we have moved quite far away from the amateur academic model that previously existed, every year.

2011, it's been a minute. I would make a tangent argument though, by stating that Michigan holds a ton of power for the league, along with USC they shut down the private equity deal last year.

If you were to add Fsu and Miami that would make Florida bowl games less attractive to the fan especially if you were to play at FSU or Miami in either October or November

Miami and FSU to the BIG.
Clemson, UNC ,Louisville, NCSt to SEC.

2 20 team leagues forming the super conference?

ND stays independent and plays the rest of teams and wins that NIT tourny regularly

Superleague playoffs are the real moneymakers...nfl- lite.
I would prefer to see North Carolina and Duke in the B1G.

Isn’t there already a salary cap in college sports? Each school can only spend around $22 million.

Imo they try and stop the NIL or regulate it they are just setting themselves up for another loss in the courts.
That's just it. They don't seem to be able to control what their calling "NIL" so in essence there is no cap...

I think that UNC would like the B1G better.

The Big Ten's university presidents vote on admitting new members. Every single school in the Big Ten is an AAU member except Nebraska, who was an AAU member when voted in.

At some point, the B1G will look like the NWO. Before you know it, we'll have Scott Steiner roaming the sideline in Ann Arbor...

Seriously, at what point will we see the B1G inviting schools from Canada and Mexico?

College football and basketball is the greatest it’s ever been for the casual fan that just enjoys good games on TV. The best teams are stacked with talent.

it’s not so good for fans of the “have nots”. Any player good will leave their school for a pay day.

the midmajors in college basketball have been destroyed. You likely will never see a midmajor make a final four run ever again. Not even sure what the point is of a conference like the Missouri Valley. They are now what JUCOs were.
