I kinda wondered if, in a five for five world, gray shirts might become a bit more frequent.Great news.
Perhaps, but he's not grayshirting. He's taking the Nick Lee/Levi Haines senior year at NLWC.I kinda wondered if, in a five for five world, gray shirts might become a bit more frequent.
Correct my understanding: I thought the Nick Lee / Levi Haines approach was the definition of grayshirting.Perhaps, but he's not grayshirting. He's taking the Nick Lee/Levi Haines senior year at NLWC.
I won't be surprised if this happens more often with 5 for 5. He probably thinks he has a shot at starting 149 next year with Van Ness graduated, so why not start training for it now?
Establishing in-state residency doesn't hurt either.
Didn’t you know that Cael has given up recruiting because DT is so much better at it than him. We’re just getting the scraps nowBTW: Mario Hutcherson, Cam Howard, and Sammy Sanchez should commit to PSU, move to State College now, and spend TWO years at NLWC while taking high school classes online.
I mean, why should they be limited to 1 year of NLWC training?

Nevermind @El_Jefe i need to go to bed…Correct my understanding: I thought the Nick Lee / Levi Haines approach was the definition of grayshirting.

IIUC grey shirt is what many are speculating JJames may do if Levi wrestles this year… having finished high school with his class, then taking a gap year before starting full time college.Correct my understanding: I thought the Nick Lee / Levi Haines approach was the definition of grayshirting.
Ryder skipped his Sr year in NY and moved as wellIIUC grey shirt is what many are speculating JJames may do if Levi wrestles this year… having finished high school with his class, then taking a gap year before starting full time college.
Nick Lee, Levi, and CS are skipping their last year at their high school, presumably finishing that degree online ( unless they had enough credits to graduate a year early, but didn’t reclassify and enrolled a year early).
"Skipping your senior year" does not involve wrestling for State High. Also, that runs afoul of PIAA eligibility rules.Skipping your senior year is just That. You move to State College during your Senior year of High School and train at the NLWC. You take your senior Classes online or Enroll at State College Hich School and basically wrestle for the High School while training at the NLWC.. In Gray Shirting.....you have graduated High School and then choose to "Gray Shirt" which involve NOT enrolling aa a Full-Time student at PSU while also training as much as possible at the NLWC and officially enrolling for your as YOUR Freshman year even Though you graduated High School a full year earlier. Got It?
Thanks for that clarification. I couldn't see how PIAA would allow that."Skipping your senior year" does not involve wrestling for State High. Also, that runs afoul of PIAA eligibility rules.
Kasak tooIIUC grey shirt is what many are speculating JJames may do if Levi wrestles this year… having finished high school with his class, then taking a gap year before starting full time college.

Actually, it's the exact OPPOSITE of a grayshirt year. In a grayshirt year, the athlete takes a year off of college without eligibility penalty. For example, if Jayden James (who has graduated from HS and is young enough to do so without penalty) takes a year off before going full time as a PSU student and athlete this year, that would be a classic grayshirt.Correct my understanding: I thought the Nick Lee / Levi Haines approach was the definition of grayshirting.
I am in my 60's now, too. It's sometimes tough to pull a thread of a thought out. You younger bucks should be grateful you aren't old yetGoodness, I’m so grateful I have all of you to help me correct my brain fart (even if after I corrected myself). It’s comforting to know you all have my back as the cognitive decline reaches its inevitable conclusion.![]()

An interview yinz will like...
Brands and DT are after him hard!Maybe Tom and Terry will get a leg up by driving to PA in a snow storm and shoveling the family’s snake pens. They’ve used similar tactics before.
Didn't Brooks go to Olympic free style place in Colorado for a grey shirt?Actually, it's the exact OPPOSITE of a grayshirt year. JTS did pretty much everything he could, except he didn't shovel any snow.
