I think for many people...the person they marry is not the person they were dating.

Dating is great, going out, drinks, fun, concerts, laying in bed, going to your OWN place when you want to get away for a bit, making plans without "checking in" to see if it is okay...

Then you get married and the man is expected to change. It was super "cute" that he was out with the guys golfing for 8 hours and grabbing beers when you are dating...but now it is time to hit up Home Depot to but plants and spend 5 hours digging holes.
I think is why more people are skipping having children. Children ruin intimate relationships. Children are amazing, and great, and can strengthen a friendship between parents but freedom is gone, and the longer the relationship is stressed the less likely you can just get it back when you are in your 50s. If you have supportive grandparents, or a large friend group who can babysit it is possible to maintain romance, but you aren't likely to get your "guy" time again without basically telling your wife you don't want to spend time with her.

Yep!

It is all a giant sacrifice.

What's interesting is that childless relationships have a higher divorce rate than those marriages with children (66% vs 40%).

Yes, you have the "stay together for the kids" factor, but not at a 26% rate differential.

I believe (and I could be way wrong) that when marriage ISN'T seriously viewed as a sacrament & couples don't regularly take part in church (specifically the sacraments for Catholics), that's when the trouble in paradise starts to rear its ugly head.

Of course having a childless relationship is going to have a FAR higher divorce rate. I know 3 people that ended their relationship with their spouses within 2 years after losing their children. Children keep bad marriages together.

Right, I acknowledged that. Just not at a 26% rate.

You are not wrong and this is what I have said all along. If you are getting married because you believe in the sacrament, that is amazing.

If you are getting married because "it is the next step" it is pointless.

Ehhhh, maybe.

Those of us with kids know that ages 0-4 are horrible. So even if you want to divorce at that time, you tend not to because of the insane amount of work.

So you stick it out for a bit...Kid(s) hit 10 and you think "well, I can wait a few more years"

Add in not wanting to pay insane child support and I can see where there would be that big difference.

Kids bring an insane amount of guilt when it comes to divorce. Plus, even though both parents WANT to blame the kid, they usually don't. Ha

I mentioned this yesterday...I ran into Home Depot yesterday and it was a nice morning here in Omaha. I have never seen so many dudes that looked so ******* miserable, shopping for plants and dirt. I am sure those dudes were totally looking forward to doing lawn work all day instead of golfing with their bros.

"My husband is THE Joe Anderson." Karen demanding her public parking spot in the neighborhood.

The young guys filming this are perfect. "This has to be a Reels..." one guy says as Karen goes off.

You've been duped. This is fake as is the one on the airplane.
The video being shown on the airplane is fake. But the innocent actually happened in a flight from NY to Atlanta they just upgraded the man to first class from economy where the woman remained .she was as not escorted off the plane.
