I don't, we were in a war, and Sherman was in it to win it. "War is Hell", coined by the man himself. You don't want the hell to come down on you, don't commit treason in defense of slavery.
Sherman targeted civilians and burnt practically anything in sight to the ground on his infamous “March to the Sea.” Now, there has been some debate among scholars regarding to what extent some Union soldiers went rogue without being directed or ordered by Sherman to do more of the heinous sh*t, but I don’t believe there is any doubt Sherman regularly violated what we know today as the Fourth Geneva Convention. And I have no problem condemning that.

I will add one aspect of the Civil War that is often overlooked is the fact most white Southerners were dirt poor and not much better off than black slaves. In fact, Frederick Douglass in one of his autobiographies wrote about how he would provide food for a few poor white boys in exchange for them teaching him how to read and write.

Set "them" on fire ... the houses or the people? Either way, I'll allow it. Stop being lazy, wanting to own people and trying to kill people to separate from the country, only to then try to tell folks how the country should be run. Unfortunately, for many down that way, the lesson was not entirely learned.
Very few Southern white people during antebellum or the Civil War were lazy or owned slaves.

Very few Southern white people during antebellum or the Civil War were lazy or owned slaves.

Looking at individual white citizens (including women and children who did not legally own property), only about 5% to 8% were direct owners. However, when calculated per household or family unit, the figure rises to nearly 33% across the entire South. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

measuring by households reveals that nearly one-third of families in the Confederacy directly owned enslaved people, with percentages reaching nearly 50% in states like Mississippi and South Carolina

Lazy or dumb, they weren't economically viable States without owning people.

Lol.

Southerners are some of the whiniest, two-faced candy azzes on the planet. They talk so much sh*t, but curl into the fetal position, as if they just encountered General William T Sherman, whenever someone actually gets in their face.
Those boys from Aintry must've done a real number on you. Take care, God bless.... and let the healing begin.

I don’t think your history is accurate. Sherman violated the constitution consistently destroying private property and forcing people to quarter his solders. As you know Lincoln’s stance was that the South was still part of the Union the entire time. When they took Columbia, SC solders would go and dine at people’s homes and then set them on fire after dinner. Such honorable behavior.
Sheesh. Couldn't they have just shot their hosts like ICE does? Ingrates ...

This white nationalist garbage certainly isn't limited to South Carolina. Check out this story out of Nevada, where the crowd at a Trump Rally in Las Vegas booed at the mention of a police officer who was ambushed and shot to death recently. They booed because Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo mentioned his name, Austin Abdelnabi. Lord knows MAGAts have got to boo anyone with an Arabic or Muslim sounding surname ....

A Trump rally crowd booed a fallen officer seemingly because of his name

Yep Sherman marched through my little country area dumping dead animals in well , killing all the livestock , burning all buildings, with lots of rapes , crimes of stealing private property all in the spirit of war crimes

Today that would be tried as War Crimes and since there is no Statue of limitations on War Crimes

Let’s seek reparations from the Feds for all the War Crimes

When i lived in Chicago i saw more overt racism then my whole childhood, additive, growing up in SC.

This is true that I have seen more racism in the North than in the South

I am skittish about going to areas of Chicago , Memphis and Atlanta to name a few as Black folks in some of those areas are very racist

Don’t leave out Orangeburg South Carolina and South Carolina State as they can be pretty racist and the drug areas are open season on killing particularly Black Folk

Not many white because we know for sure it would be die white blotch and bang bang you dead

Serious question. Can you read for comprehension? What part of my post suggested Sherman was a nice guy? And what part of my post suggested Lincoln’s primary goal was not to save the Union (because I never mentioned anything about it at all)?

And, FTR, I am aware of the dishonorable behavior of Sherman. And I condemn it and will admit it was wrong. It’s really not that hard to acknowledge bad behavior is bad behavior, right? Unless, of course, your skin is as thick as fatpiggy’s and “sticks and stones…” when it comes to taunting children. 😂.

Shirley you understand I am being facetious about all that Civil War/KKK sh*t just to get a rise out of fatpiggy, right? I mean, I actually live in a former Confederate state. A lot of great people (and a lot of dumbazzes like piggy too). I get clowned on about being from Iowa and being “cornbread” and sh*t like that. I have plenty of inbreeding/NASCAR jokes. We all have fun. ☺️

I do travel soft ball with my granddaughter and taunting children by any person for any reason will have my attention to step up and say something to anybody

This is my take as well. Easy to pick on the South but these blatant and dare I say PROUD displays of racism and xenophobia have become normalized due to MAGA nationwide. Hell, just look at what elected MAGA officials were saying about the Michigan Democrat nominee this weekend as an example -to zero consequences.

But since your sucking off Yankees this morning, was it racist that Lincoln wanted all the blacks sent back to Africa. Just curious how that was received by you morons.

Even someone as dumb as you should understand how wildly racist that is.
Of course it's racist and out of line if we are going off the headline (I have not watched the video nor heard the whole story if there is one).

However, people make racist jokes all the time. Black people make racist comments all the time too. People make jewish jokes. Polish jokes. *** jokes. We usually don't let it bother us because we have thick skin and know what a joke is. Not thread worthy.

Their team should be charged with a forfeit and be disqualified. Shocked that this occurred in the birthplace of the Confederacy.
I'd probably agree with you, but would want to hear the whole story before passing judgement. But yes, forfeiture would be an appropriate punishment. Probably just a little intra-squad dust up. I doubt it was totally unprovoked.

How? Who is going to pay the reparations?

No one alive today owned slaves. No one alive today had anything to do with slavery. Why should I, a white guy who you want reparations from, be punished? Is that going to make society more fair going forward? Or will the people paying the reparations be happy to be stolen from? Two wrongs will never make a right, it just makes two wrongs. That is not going to fix anything.

It's the Republicans and the Republican party that are obsessed about the trans "issue". I doubt there has been a single thread created on this board or the other board by a lib/Democrat per the trans.

It was a Little League baseball game and fans were chanting racist tropes at children. Odd behavior by most people’s standards.

Yes, every one of every color and stripe can be a piece of sh*t.

Sure. We should probably return to crying about a misdemeanor conviction in Minnesota. Keep that going at least a few more months.

Btw, you’re a f#cking idiot. No offense.

We are taught to not ever say that to Black people but better yet we don't think of them as "different" because of their skin color.

Then again, we fought on the winning side of the Civil War.

You were taught to never say "Chocolate poptart"? You are aware that is what they were saying, correct?

I have never heard the term chocoalte poptart before, i assume a poptart is a term for a soft baseball player and chocolate is because of his skin tone, which we all know dems love to aknowledge everywhere all the time.

I think Fagnar is the fruittart for starting a thread about it.

You know, i was taught everyone was equal and to ignore skin color also. Somewhere along the way we got lost. We have a whole political party that has adopted a DEI platform which is based on skin tone. It's why i am so opposed to it and I always argue for a colorblind, merit based society. Yet, the Fagnars of the world call ME the racist. LOL

Just saw this reparations thing again

If white society had paid reparations in 1960 with no public free handouts after 1960 under Lyndon Johnson as president there would probably be today the people that got the money broke with no more handouts.

I saw where we have spend like 40 trillion dollars on handouts to black folk since 1960.

To be clear I am 100% against reparations and DEI with a firm support for equal opportunity and meritocracy

Earn it not a hand out
