We might get a prime time game against Michigan, should be a top 20, maybe even a top 15 matchup at that point.22nd isn't too shabby, should certainly be bumped up by that week 4 matchup if we can not implode.
Undefeated?Every team is 0-0 and you are what your record says you are.
That's fair. With a decent quarterback and a DL that grows up it could certainly happen. Very possibly even better.Undefeated?
agree. they exist they are entertaining and generat clicksUntil November, football polls are about as accurate as the 30-day weather forecast, and even less meaningful. IMHO, of course.
0-0Every team is 0-0 and you are what your record says you are.
Yikes, we are a zero win team.Every team is 0-0 and you are what your record says you are.
Memba when Northern Illinois beat us when Rudock was our QB?I don't care what anyone says. I'm terrified week 1. We could be playing the college of the blind and until I see us actually play, I worry. So many questions on this team.
Jordan Lynch was a beast for that team. Really thought we were about to relive that atrocious 2012 season.Memba when Northern Illinois beat us when Rudock was our QB?

NIU beat Iowa in 2013 at home. 2012 was in Chicago.Jordan Lynch was a beast for that team. Really thought we were about to relive that atrocious 2012 season.
Was the home opener if I recall correctly and talk about a kick in the pantsJordan Lynch was a beast for that team. Really thought we were about to relive that atrocious 2012 season.
Pretty sure he knows that.NIU beat Iowa in 2013 at home. 2012 was in Chicago.
Both teams play hardI don't care what anyone says. I'm terrified week 1. We could be playing the college of the blind and until I see us actually play, I worry. So many questions on this team.
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one confused by that response.Pretty sure he knows that.
The polls added interest to the game, and in doing so, spread interest to the rest of college athleticsUntil November, football polls are about as accurate as the 30-day weather forecast, and even less meaningful. IMHO, of course.
Everyone loves the early polls, whether they want to admit it or not. That’s why these discussions about how worthless they are crack me up so much. The polls added interest to the game, and in doing so, spread interest to the rest of college athletics
My personal belief is that no official poll should be released until after Week 1 (that includes Week 0 games).
If local media, even those acknowledged as voters for the AP Top 25, want to publish their own preseason all, they would be more than welcome to.
But, no team can attach a number to its name until a live Week of games have been played.
Just my two cents.....
Just gets the hype going and means we are close to gamesEveryone loves the early polls, whether they want to admit it or not. That’s why these discussions about how worthless they are crick me up so much.
More like there are people that appreciate the early polls because it gives them (primarily the media) something to talk about.Everyone loves the early polls, whether they want to admit it or not. That’s why these discussions about how worthless they are crick me up so much.
Kind of like it feels like the team plays worse when put against high expectations?Sounds about right considering all that we lost. Sometimes I kind of prefer to be unrated, because it feels like the team plays better.
Go Hawks!
While I agree, we're at the point now that the CFP is the only poll that actually matters. When that comes out no one pays any attention to the Coaches or AP. But gotta have that number next to a name for hyping up games. The polls added interest to the game, and in doing so, spread interest to the rest of college athletics

Preseason polls can end up playing into the first CFP poll. While I agree, we're at the point now that the CFP is the only poll that actually matters. When that comes out no one pays any attention to the Coaches or AP. But gotta have that number next to a name for hyping up games.
