Not to get all theological, but you’re taking that passage out of context. What does the rest of the scripture say after that?
it means rich people have no shot at receiving eternal life.
they have their good time now..

Luke 16:25
in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

or as Joel Osteen says.. "your best life now!"
because you're going to hell later.

Actually, according to the Good Book, it's not money that ruins everything, it's the "love of money" that ruins everything. You can have nothing or everything. It's how you view it and what you do with it that makes the difference. Too many rich people love money so much that, even if they become the world's first trillionaire, it's still not enough. Other people have nothing, but they aren't envious. They work hard, help others, and generally do the right thing.

What we're seeing now is that so many super-rich LOVE money. They can't get enough of it. They don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. And at the top of that list is your MAGA dictator and the South African madman Musk. But there are many others, including Bezos and Zuckerberg, who are right there with them.
You never seem to know what you're talking about. Little man syndrome.

Does that mean Donald Trump is going to hell?

Do you know what the cutoff would be for those too rich to escape hell and those who have a chance to make it by the skin of their teeth?

500k? 1 million? 100 million?

?

I guess nothing is official until it is, but what I'm reading in this thread, Banks won't be back.

So all of that waiting just for Banks to go elsewhere anyway.. Now that's what I call anti-climactic. Good luck wherever your next stop is, Tavion.

I think the sense is that Ben moved on not knowing if he would get the fifth year.. I'm guessing he and Tavion had that discussion.

The “love of money” is certainly not a political left/right thing.

Nor is it a recent phenomenon ("What we're seeing now is that so many super-rich LOVE money"). The ultra-rich and elite have always loved their $$$ as long as there has been money to be made.

Let me follow your logic all the way to its conclusion. Most average families in America rank in the top 20% of wealth globally. Does that exclude every American? What about wealthy men in the Bible like David, Solomon and Abraham? Are they in hell, according to your “if you’re wealthy” you have no shot. See when you start thinking logically it doesn’t make sense. The Bible never said wealthy men go to hell. It’s your interpretation that’s the problem. Why don’t you read the whole interaction and stop being a Bible butcherer? I bet you didn’t know the Bible was never meant to be read and interpreted in single verses. The chapter and verse divisions in the Bible are were not a part of the original manuscripts. They were added centuries later as a reference system to make it easier to locate passages.

Acts 13:33
God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

this is the problem with the world today... people want to argue about what the Bible says... when they have no idea what the Bible says... and worse yet.. they don't believe it.

you bring up David Solomon and Abraham... wealthy people in the Old Testament... well.. there's a new testament that has a new covenant based upon better promises.

in the Old Testament God used his people to be the representative nation for the whole world... these men that you mention.. they all failed.
so this idea of setting up kings and kingdoms on earth.. it doesn't work.

so Jesus comes along and breaks that barrier between one nation of people and the rest of the world... now making the kingdom of God available to whosoever believes in him... and not only that. he sends his spirit to dwell in those that are chosen by God.

those of us chosen by God know the truth... it's simple and easy.

today.. in this world... ain't no rich man going to sell all that he has, give to the poor, and follow Jesus.

if he did.. he wouldn't be rich.

no no.. they have their good times now... but those of us born of God, we suffer this world... and our good times come later.

having money is not a measure for being a good person.
in fact, you're better off being poor and having no money at all.

the reality is... we are all evil.
there is only one that is good.. and that is God.
the reason Jesus comes in the clouds on the day that he comes.. is because we are near a point where nobody on earth believes God anymore.

think about what you said "original manuscripts"

there are no original manuscripts... had you known what the Bible says.. you would have known Moses smashed the originals.

no no... the word of God... it comes directly from God above.
these words are live streamed from God... even long before there was any internet.

the word of God is a living spirit

it's funny... you believe God can resurrect you from the dead... but God can't speak English?

that's a strange God you worship.

Acts 2:8
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

1 Corinthians 13:8
whether there be tongues, they shall cease;

1 Peter 1:25
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

People tend to over complicate the story of the rich man. He was a young man who was rich and came to where Jesus was and asked Him how he could have eternal life in Heaven. Jesus, knowing he was rich, told him to go and sell all that he had and give the proceeds to the poor, and then, come back and follow Him. The young man went away sad because he preferred worldly riches over the Heavenly riches promised to followers of Jesus. The Lord then pointed out how it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Would you prefer to have worldly riches that will not last? Or, would you rather have riches that God has guaranteed you in Heaven, such as eternal life, perfect bodies, freedom from sickness and pain, and fellowship with God forever?

The argument confuses a personal command with a universal command. In the Gospels, Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell everything because wealth had become his idol, not because owning property is inherently sinful (Matthew 19:16–22; Mark 10:17–22; Luke 18:18–23). Jesus exposed the man’s heart, and when he walked away, it revealed what he loved most. If Christ intended that command for every disciple, the New Testament would consistently require it. It does not. Zacchaeus gave away half of his possessions and repaid those he had wronged fourfold, and Jesus declared, “Today salvation has come to this house” (Luke 19:1–10). He was never told to sell everything. Joseph of Arimathea remained a wealthy man and used his own tomb to bury Jesus (Matthew 27:57–60). Lydia, a successful merchant, opened her home to the Church (Acts 16:14–15, 40). Philemon hosted a church in his house (Philemon 2). None of them were commanded to abandon all their possessions. Scripture condemns the love of money, not the possession of wealth (1 Timothy 6:10).

The earliest Christian writers understood this distinction as well. St. Clement of Alexandria wrote Who Is the Rich Man That Shall Be Saved? to answer this very question. He concluded that Christ was calling people to remove the slavery of greed from their hearts, not requiring every Christian to become materially poor. St. John Chrysostom taught that wealth becomes good when it is used generously for others. St. Augustine said the problem is not having riches but allowing riches to rule the heart. This has been the consistent understanding throughout Christian history. Voluntary poverty has always been recognized as a calling for some believers, but never presented as a universal command for all. If selling everything were required of every Christian, the apostles would have taught it plainly. Instead, they instructed believers to be generous, care for the poor, support the work of the Church, and provide for their families.

The argument also falls apart logically. Jesus did not say it is impossible for a rich man to enter heaven. He said it is difficult, and then immediately added, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). If every Christian had to sell every possession, there would have been no homes for the early Church to meet in, no resources to support missionaries, and no means to care for widows, orphans, and the poor. The New Testament repeatedly commands Christians to work, provide for their families (1 Timothy 5:8), be generous (2 Corinthians 9:6–11), and use their resources for God’s kingdom (1 Timothy 6:17–19). The consistent teaching of Scripture is not that every believer must own nothing. It is that nothing should own the believer. Christ calls every person to surrender whatever stands between them and Him. For one person that may be wealth. For another it may be pride, power, comfort, or reputation. The issue has always been the heart, not the bank account.

Good points. In the end, it will not come down to who is or who isn't wealthy, or how they choose to spend what they have. In the Old Testament, before Jesus brought salvation to the world, the prophets and those who "Walked with God" by following His commands, such as Abraham and others, were credited with righteousness for doing so by God himself. Having money or wealth is immaterial, since Christ died once and for all for forgiveness of sins, as God demands perfect righteousness to enter His kingdom. The only way to accomplish this is to be "Born Again". There are no other ways to achieve this. Nicodemus, in the cover of night, asked Christ how this could be and how to achieve it.

Comrades:

THIS is what counts. Matthew 25:31-46. The Big Guy himself talking.
Keep this in mind. There are a lot of really good and kind people in Hell, and there are a lot of evildoers in Heaven. How can this be? The only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. Outside of that, there are none. You must repent of sin and be "Born Again" to enter Heaven. You must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins. Paul said in Ephesians 2:8-9 that you are saved by grace, through faith in Christ and Him alone, and not by works. . This was hotly contested during the Reformation by the Catholic church, opposing Martin Luther's view supporting Paul. In Romans 10:9, Paul said that if you declare with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.

Gates, Bezos, Zuckerburg. Cuban, Buffett, all Dems. All richer than Trump.
I’m not sure I agree nor understand why you responded with this. Most of those guys are A-political. They support both sides to protect their empires, especially Bezos and Zuckerberg.

This forum is just as believable as any passage from the work of fiction everyone seems to be quoting. I prefer people do decent things without having to think they're being watched by a mythical sky being regardless of flavor of that being.

Also I think Ben had to either **** or get off the pot in regards to waiting on Banks.

What makes you think Ben is waiting on Bank's return? He said originally he wanted him back but that was before Bank's separation post. I don't think he's coming back and I think Ben is ok with it
