With this, Tavion can play for the Hawkeyes again. In his post on social media, he stated that if granted another year, he wants to be a Hawkeye again. His basketball IQ was very high, and his experience would be a boon for this team.

seems like it wont be at iowa :(

Maybe Iowa pulled the plug after that Pavia trial got delayed? I think that’s what they were thinking might get him the extra year originally before the 5 for 5 came out…

To my knowledge Iowa still only has 14 guys on the roster and could still add him. I would think they’d take him immediately, he would contribute (at a minimum) and fit into the system seamlessly.

I don’t think he would get a better offer this late in the process, although maybe Iowa has exhausted all its MBB NIL…

That was my thinking, that we had a spot open.

Yep, sounding like Banks has settled on going elsewhere. Hard to say if McCollum advised him to do that or if this is on his own accord. Sad, because I would've liked to see how he would've looked in another year under McCollum.

Sorry, I haven't checked into this board for awhile now. Why are we (or he) moving on?
In my unqualified and strictly amateurish opinion, I can only say that there are currently 14 of 15 roster spots taken. I'm hoping that Banks' post is a cryptic message for Hawk fans. :) And, with the likelihood of the NCAA appealing the judge's ruling, who knows where this will go?

Iowa already gave his number (#6) to someone else (Coon). You don’t do that when you are hoping/expecting a player to return. I think it’s been reasonably clear for a while that Banks wasn’t expected back at Iowa.
So, this is a Ben decision?

Guess or did you know that he was either moving on or Iowa was moving on from Banks?

Either Ben feels good with what he has or Banks sees an opportunity elsewhere; hard to believe Banks thinks he can learn more elsewhere but may be looking for more exposure. I’d expect a Kansas type move or he’s a fool or Ben moved on first.

I think it’s a case similar to Alvaro. The 3 and 4 positions are loaded for Iowa, they had to spend big for McKeever. Can’t fault Banks either as his pro career is likely limited.

NIL is going to make all the "not good enough for the league" players want to stay in college forever so they can get a paycheck. FFS just give them 20 years of eligibility and be done with it. Money ruins everything.

Actually, according to the Good Book, it's not money that ruins everything, it's the "love of money" that ruins everything. You can have nothing or everything. It's how you view it and what you do with it that makes the difference. Too many rich people love money so much that, even if they become the world's first trillionaire, it's still not enough. Other people have nothing, but they aren't envious. They work hard, help others, and generally do the right thing.

What we're seeing now is that so many super-rich LOVE money. They can't get enough of it. They don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. And at the top of that list is your MAGA dictator and the South African madman Musk. But there are many others, including Bezos and Zuckerberg, who are right there with them.

"it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven"

That's a quote from Jesus.

I could see Ben moving on since Banks hasn't been working with the team all summer. There is something to team building when there is a shared struggle. If someone skips all that struggle and joins the team after the fact, there can be issues. Or, Banks is looking for a payday which I can't blame him for.

Not to get all theological, but you’re taking that passage out of context. What does the rest of the scripture say after that?
