I wouldn’t say forced when our ADs continue to sign on extending the series. With new big 10 with 4 west coast teams plus 9 game schedule I’m ok with isu. Hypothetically even if series ends tomorrow let’s be honest we aren’t replacing them with anything better and more likely to play a MAC school instead of SEC Big12 team. And it takes two to tango for all the schools on our wish list to play.

Don’t get me wrong think it would be fun to play a home and home with other P4 but with trend of things it’s less likely to happen. Where you see more P4 schools backing out of future home and away series like Nebby cancelling series against Tenn that was to be played last and this year.

If Iowa vs Iowa State was meaningless it would not be on broadcast national tv this year
Yes and No. Being on NBC/CBS/ABC isn't the flex it used to be.

NBC is also broadcasting

Western Michigan @ Michigan
San Jose St @ USC
Rice (yes, Rice) @ Notre Dame
Southern Illinois @ Illinois
Western Kentucky @ Indiana
Eastern Michigan @ Wisconsin

to name a few...

This series is no more but Iowa continues getting forced to play the clones.
The IU-ND was supposed to play a 2 game set starting 2030. Other than the playoff game, these two teams hadn't played since 1991, and only 27 games total in both schools history.

The Eastern Mich vs Wisconsin one is the biggest head scratcher

That should have been an AM radio game only

I'd be good going to a rolling 3 games on, 2 games off series with ISU. During the 3 games on stretch, Iowa gets 2 home games to ISUs 1, then take a 2 year pause to do a home and home with a different P4 team, and so on and so forth. If ISU doesn't like that, then fine, they can cancel it, but I'd make that our offer. There's no reason we need to do an even home and home split with them because we aren't equal programs.....certainly not any more with the Big 12 being probably the bottom rung of the P4 ladder and the B1G being at the top.

Indiana's non con schedule? Wow...that will be like a total combined score of 200-0. Can't say I blame them though.

ND and NBC still have TV contract, so replace Rice with Sisters of the Poor and it would still be on the slate

Little side note rant about ND. They probably will get in after last year and crying about it. but if you look at their schedule they play 2 tough games (Miami & BYU) and 3rd against smu pretty tough. If they have 2 losses no way they deserve to get it. Schedule is a joke. Yet they whine and complain about conf teams like usc not bending over to fit them into their schedule full of conf games.

and KF deserves a lot of the blame for allowing this to become such a meaningful game
Got NO need for STATE. Would like to see them go to the MVC or better yet, the GLVC.

(of course it will be excellent watching us squash them this year)

While I don't totally disagree with your point....

The last 3 games you listed are Peacock exclusives, not NBC.
All ND home games are NBC.
NBC typically gets the #3 B1G game of the week, occasionally #2 and once a year gets #1. They'll end up with some clunkers, but not all of 'em.
Pretty rare for CBS to not get a really good game.
ABC gets the best SEC game every week.
