The big 12 did a conference deal with monster energy. It pays about 1 mil a year per school. Looks like a big L for the commisssionor Yormark. I’m not sure if they’re allowed to get their own or not.
Yeah, Monster really made out on that deal.

They would be my personal pick but it kind of ruins the self sufficient AD thing. Also Iowa would be criticized for directing hospital money to the AD instead of medical research.
Big12 needs to get a commissioner with business experience...Yeah, Monster really made out on that deal.

The University of Iowa Health Care is a roughly $4.5 billion enterprise that generated an operating surplus of about $317 million in its most recent fiscal year. It largely operates on patient-care revenue and functions as a self-supporting health system within the University of Iowa.
If the legality of a UI Health Care sponsorship on Iowa uniforms is in question, it’s worth remembering that the Board of Regents already approved Iowa State’s CyTown project, where university-owned land is leased for commercial development and private businesses operate on university property. That demonstrates the Regents have already approved significant commercial partnerships involving university assets.
Against that backdrop, a fair-market-value sponsorship between University of Iowa Health Care and Iowa Athletics would hardly be unprecedented.
thank you clowns for your white elephant venture.
Good point, some would see it as a bad look. But would it be a good look to be taking millions from a hospital?
Yes it’s called advertisingBut would it be a good look to be taking millions from a hospital?
What? Why not. Good grief it’s a sl dunk exposure.yeah, a UI Healthcare patch probably would not be a good look
UIHC already advertises all over every sport. Where have you been.Good point, some would see it as a bad look.
However, they spend money on advertising, they just pay non-profit rates.
The real issue might be whether the state would allow it.
Organization and Status
- Public Entity: Owned by the state and affiliated with the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
- Non-profit Mission: Dedicated to patient care, medical education, and scientific research.
- Revenues: Any financial gains are reinvested back into the hospital’s medical programs, facilities, technology, and community services.
Advertising and Marketing Activities
- Brand Campaigns: They launch regional marketing initiatives, such as the "Making All of Iowa Better" campaign, which highlights patient stories and clinical care across the state.
- Media Channels: Ads appear via local TV commercials, digital platforms, social media, and billboards.
- Dedicated Staff: The health system employs internal marketing and communications managers, and regularly partners with external specialized healthcare marketing agencies.
Advertising its own brand. What is wrong with you? It’s actually honorable.yeah, a UI Healthcare patch probably would not be a good look
It’s all about getting UIHC on the nationally spotlight. If you do t think the wave has had financial benefits you are nuts.$21M for a logo patch seems appropriate, that's $3M per wave at the Children's Hospital each year ...quid-pro-quo... sign the deal.
How much are they charged?UIHC already advertises all over every sport. Where have you been.
That doesn't pay our NIL bills now does it?It’s all about getting UIHC on the nationally spotlight. If you do t think the wave has had financial benefits you are nuts.

I've seen a lot of Iowa fan accounts on social media ask John Deere to sponsor Iowa with a patch. As much as I don't like seeing ads on jerseys, I'd be open to it if it meant that much extra money. Open to Casey's or Culver's too.
Sad but probably true. Pretty soon college football jerseys will look like arena fb jerseys or like European soccer clubs, where there's no name of the club on it just one giant sponsor name. Schools are now saying to hell with school spirit and tradition, bring on the cash!We knew this was coming. The fun won't stop at 1 sponsor.

True. And rising expenses can predominantly be defined as now paying their now professional athletes.the revenues somehow have to keep up with rising expenses

Yes it’s called advertising
Yep, Casey, Bandag, Deere, IH, somebody. We'll see what Beth can come up with. Culvers, probably not a chance. Their origins are deep in Wisconsin, and I'd bet its a cold day in hell before old Craig will be putting that on our jerseys.
That's good exposure for all the games televised on TNT.Yeah, Monster really made out on that deal.

Musco ain't going to pay anything within 20 galaxies of $15-$20 mill per year for a patch sponsorship. Even if they could I doubt they'd want to alienate ISU by "choosing" to sponsor Iowa.Musco Lighting has been a long time UI partner, especially when temporary lights had to be brought in for night games.
‘if no one sees their advertising will they really have made out on the deal? Seems like a waste of money.
Much much less, assuming that they are interested. At least I assume so because OSU enjoys far more eyeballs than Iowa. Most of the top ten viewership/game are SEC, led by Bama and Texas. When I looked it up I didn’t see Iowa in the top twenty. Ten of the top 12 are SEC.I am glad that Beth is taking her time, seeing what the market is bringing. If a bank is giving OSU $17M annually, what would the Principal Financial Group give Iowa annually?
Google Gemini has Iowa at #25, looks like it sourced a Reddit post from last year. Checked the post, the guy said he manually looked up all the P4 teams numbers and ranked em. He didn’t provide a source though.Much much less, assuming that they are interested. At least I assume so because OSU enjoys far more eyeballs than Iowa. And in the new market place where are they going to get the biggest bang for their buck?Same thing w/ Hy-Vee
Like I said before that's my concern, that the uniforms don't start looking like nascar jump suits....How many patches are allowed?
I know the Big 12 now wants more than one. lol
And he started the franchise in Sauk City Wisconsin. Like I said earlier Iowa or Missouri where they're building like crazy would never be an option.Wisconsin has Culvers at the moment.
One tidbit: Craig Culver, the co-founder of Culver's, went to the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, where he graduated in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in biology.

So, a company that originated in Kentucky, and has their headquarters in Tenn, (and has locations Nationwide) would pick Iowa?Dollar General?
Me be joking as it has invaded all the small towns in Iowa. Maybe Dollar Tree or Family Dollar? So, a company that originated in Kentucky, and has their headquarters in Tenn, (and has locations Nationwide) would pick Iowa?
Maybe we wouldn't want to be associated with that company just based off reviews anyway. They have the WORST reviews collectively of ANY company I've ever seen. They have an AVERAGE review rating of ONE on a 1-5 rating scale on 56 posted reviews. Literally every complaint you could imagine from poor quality, poor installing, and poor service trying to respond to complaints. I know some people don't review when their good with products, but I've never seen a company trashed like that one.
