Tbf, I don't think "teaching a kid to punt or make a FG" is just an ESL issue. This has been an issue in all levels of youth football for a century. Heck, some places, like Carthage, the Great and mighty Jim Unruh... didn't even bother teaching it. They just went for 2 every time to avoid the extra coaching. Many schools have this problem, let's not lambaste ESL as being the champions of this... it happens everywhere often.I’ve been saying for a very long time there are 3 reasons why MC will always beat ESL year in and out. Even when ESL has more talent on paper. This takes care of one of those 3. I was always dumbfounded that ESL could put together so many athletes and couldn’t teach a kid to punt or make a FG. No prediction on the outcome of the 1st game of the season with a new QB & new O line. With the short field taken away and now having to defend field goal range it will come down to if ESL can overcome their other two shortcomings.

He will say coaching and discipline.Whats the other 2 short comings
I don't know if that is the two but if it is he has a more then legitimate argument on both.He will say coaching and discipline.
The plan is for it to be streamed. Logistics are still being worked out. That MC - EsL game
Will it stream anywhere?
Someone mentioned this before: Sunk likes to show off his toys.I don't know if that is the two but if it is he has a more then legitimate argument on both.
The lack of discipline has been brought up and discussed here for years, I won't beat a dead horse but there is a lot of dead ball penalties and offsides that just always occur with them and it's not that they have had this beaten in their by their coaches yet it happens more then not.
As far as coaching, and as mentioned above it's not his player development or prep, but when you go All Gas No Brakes you sometimes crash. When it works, you can't beat them, see Loyola in 2024. When it doesn't, you got to bump the brakes and shift gears, see Fenwick and Cary Grove. Maybe he has the "lives by the sword, die by the sword" mindset set.
It's discipline and stamina. He will say coaching and discipline.
Stamina? Last time they played, ESL outscored MC 26-15 in the 2nd half. It's discipline and stamina.
Gee, how did they lose?Stamina? Last time they played, ESL outscored MC 26-15 in the 2nd half.
I remember watching the MC/LWE game last year when a MC DL sacked Jonas, kid is down play is over, and the MC player held on to Jonas' injured leg and tried to roll over 2-3x times in a classless act. No penalty was called, funny how that works, right?

A legal tackle. Look at you justifying classless and behavior that should have been a penalty.View attachment 1377433
Maybe they were upset over the wrestling body slam that was done on Dowling by #97 that no penalty was called.....I don't know. Funny how it works
Penalties and giving up 21 in the 2nd quarter.Gee, how did they lose?
Lot of those penalties greatly approved MC field position and gave them short fields to work withPenalties and giving up 21 in the 2nd quarter.
Impossible to tell since they never got to run the play due to penalties. Honestly 19 penalties for 167 yards, if MC fans claim that penalties is something ESL has an issue with then ESL don't have much of an argument to prove otherwise. It was also an issue in 2017 and 2018 when we played in fact drawing them off sides ended the 2017 game by giving MC a first down and they were able to take a knee. Maybe it will he different this time, we shall see.So we agree, MC needed to be spotted those yards and do-overs to eke by with the win.
The score was 7 to 7 and the end of regulation. I guess that move stopped IMG from scoring as well. The ONLY reason that IMG and ESL was competitive was due to ten offensive e line doing the unified stand up and look at the side line move
that game is much different without them doing that
Show em off more! Trick plays! Trick plays! Kick it from the 50!Someone mentioned this before: Sunk likes to show off his toys.
ESL still only scored on one of those drives. Also, how did those penalties keep IMG from scoring only one TD? IMG was held to their lowest point total of the year, how did a handful of defensive offsides slow down their offense?Bro
The fake stand up and look at the sidelines to draw an offsides penalty extended 5 drives
that move isn’t legal anymore
that game doesn’t go into OT without that
They lost because Jack Elliott kept moving the ball at critical times with both his arm and his legs. And because it was a great team effort. Big players came up big in a big game.Penalties and giving up 21 in the 2nd quarter.
How much of Elliot moving the ball was due to 200 penalty yards against ESL?They lost because Jack Elliott kept moving the ball at critical times with both his arm and his legs. And because it was a great team effort. Big players came up big in a big game.
Besides penalties, ESL had three or four guys cramping up and needing a break. But it was a hot night in late August, so no criticism there. They got their second wind and came back strong.
August 22 is approaching.
Fair, but how much of that was in the 2nd half? Also, how many of those opportunities came because of penalties.View attachment 1378820
177 rushing 108 passing 2 TDs in his first start. Pretty good
I do know a lot but this was three years ago and your asking a pretty impossible stat. He did have a huge run in the 4th quarter to help burn the clock. Here is the game. All 213 minutes of it. If it was the 80's it would be 2 VHS tapes. Enjoy.Fair, but how much of that was in the 2nd half? Also, how many of those opportunities came because of penalties.
