Just so I understand. You are good with the socialist benefits YOU receive. It is the socialist things that others want that you disagree with? That is your stance?
nope, not at all. I don't receive any of the socialist benefits other than social security, Medicare (and I'd get out of that if I had a choice)and in reality, I followed the rules and paid my share into the "trust" to support myself and others.

I'm fine with all the social programs that exist, and think we need to expand some - like child tax credits and child care - and reduce some others ( or make individual responsibility more of a determinant) like medicaid, welfare.

I'm one of those more than happy to pay my taxes. I think Bush 2 made a mistake by eliminating federal taxes on the bottom 50% because I think everybody should have some skin in the game. I'm even OK with taxing real high earners, but I'd do it through a surcharge rather than the gyrations we'd go through with a wealth tax.

So, nope, you have me pegged incorrectly

So you don't receive any socialist benefits except the socialist benefits that you do receive. Brilliant.

I see the questioning..I contributed the maximum to social security every year...it's not an option. had I been given the chance/choice I would have opted out. I can get better returns on my money by investing myself. ..I don't need or want Medicare...government requires it.
I'm forced to contribute to the socialist military. I don't think you know how socialism works.

well, if you think the military is socialist, then, you are right, you and I don't see socialism in the same way.

" Socialism is an economic and political system where the community or the government owns and controls the main parts of production—like factories, tools, and land—instead of private individuals. The main goal is to share wealth fairly and make sure people work together to meet everyone's basic need.

Key Ideas of Socialism
    • Public or Worker Ownership: Factories and resources belong to the public, the state, or the workers, rather than private business owners.
    • Fair Wealth Sharing: The system tries to reduce big gaps between rich and poor by making sure resources help everyone.
    • Focus on Human Needs: Goods and services are made to be used, not just to create large money profits for a few people"
According to AI, "socialism in simple terms"

Government controls absolutely everything when it comes to the military. The whole system, from the government owning all the land and infrastructure, to the shared goals that everyone under that system gets a fair shake and operates under the same rules, to the common goal of helping and defending the general population in a homogenous way, is pure socialism.

Again, you don't seem to understand what socialism is.

well, I was in the army for 20 years and I didn't get to share equally....

If you're so hot on socialism vote that way

There absolutely is equality in the military. The government has strict authorities and rates of pay based on classification. You'll never see one general making $300k, another making $3 million, and another making $30 million. But you will with the free market and say, CEOs.

You're only proving my point here.

I don’t think something anyone with half a brain new already is a “bombshell” but if it breaks through some numpties’ cognitive dissonance, I’m all for it.
Yah, the bombshell lead in is stupid but the reminder that this was an unnecessary war of choice is not. ;-)

what a surprise. Mark Warner has an opposite opinion than donald Trump.

This would be newsworthy if Warner agreed with Trump.

I doubt you'd find many people who think that Iran was an "imminent danger". But I'd also doubt you'd find unanimous agreement in the definition of imminent in this instance.

Now if Warner had taken the position that the US should not have initiated this war, he'd likely find more people to agree with him, me included.

I think we can both agree that Trump has been a complete disaster with this war. In fact it's possible to argue that he's been corrupt with the way he's lied repeatedly about it to insider trade off it.

Except we all know he's right because he was persuaded by Bibi to do it, unlike the previous sane presidents that came before him. He also stupidly believed he could end it in a few days and the Iranian people would rise up and take over which is another reason he's completely unfit to lead. And before we forget, he bombed them even though a deal had been presented right before they killed three levels of leadership and 168 girls in a school that he still won't take the blame for. It's a shame we have such irrational imbeciles running this country - it's not like we weren't warned.

"In the weeks before the June 2025 strikes, Oman's foreign minister, who was mediating US-Iran talks in Geneva, said Iran was offering to give up stockpiling enriched uranium as part of a deal with the US, describing it as moving toward "zero stockpiling." He also said there was agreement that the material would be downblended to the lowest level possible and converted into fuel, with full inspector access if a deal was reached."

We had other options

Drone hits storage tanker at Egyptian port in major Middle East escalation, security firm says

By Marwa Rashad, Mohamed Ezz and Yasmine Ghania

LONDON/CAIRO,/WASHINGTON, July 29 (Reuters) - A drone hit a U.S.-owned gas storage tanker
at Egypt's Mediterranean port of Damietta, British maritime security firm Ambrey said in an initial assessment on Wednesday, and U.S. President Donald Trump vowed to retaliate against Iran for an overnight attack, as the Middle East conflict appeared to expand beyond its main fronts.

The incident, which Trump said he had been briefed on, came amid a sharp escalation in the conflict, with Iran firing missiles at U.S. forces in Jordan and the United States and Saudi Arabia striking Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq.

Trump vowed to retaliate against Iran for firing on U.S. troops days after he halted air strikes.

"So it's our turn," Trump told reporters at the White House. He said Washington would see if there was an agreement with Iran at some point, "but we're going to hit them very hard."

Iran confirmed overnight that it had fired on U.S. bases in Jordan and at ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and also spurned an Omani proposal to jointly manage the strait.

Trump had said operations against Iran would last only a few weeks when he launched them in February but fighting has now gone on for five months with no end in sight.

Imminent danger = a deliverable nuke.

IMO, they weren’t anywhere close to that which is why every other president told Bibi no. Unfortunately, he was able to talk the orange idiot into war.

I don't think anybody thought Iran had a deliverable nuke....at least I didn't. I believed the Iranian negotiators who said they had enough material to make 11 nuclear bombs, but I don't think the had the capability to deliver any of them, yet

Are you in real estate? I think you could really bolster the Witkoff and Kushner power negotiation team.

A deliverable nuke is too late, obviously.
