I don't receive any of the socialist benefits other than social security, Medicare (and I'd get out of that if I had a choice)and in reality, I followed the rules and paid my share into the "trust" to support myself and others.Just so I understand. You are good with the socialist benefits YOU receive. It is the socialist things that others want that you disagree with? That is your stance?
I'm fine with all the social programs that exist, and think we need to expand some - like child tax credits and child care - and reduce some others ( or make individual responsibility more of a determinant) like medicaid, welfare.
I'm one of those more than happy to pay my taxes. I think Bush 2 made a mistake by eliminating federal taxes on the bottom 50% because I think everybody should have some skin in the game. I'm even OK with taxing real high earners, but I'd do it through a surcharge rather than the gyrations we'd go through with a wealth tax.
