Interesting, hope he and his family are okay. Seems like a big blow to the program. I don't suppose a GM departing this late in the offseason will cause any players to leave...

Agreed. I am trying to stay as optimistic as I can with UK football but I feel like a battered wife over the years and I keep coming back for more beatings.
He came here with Stein and his leaving so quickly is certainly odd, to say the least.

I just read this on ESPN. This is strange. I hope we can get someone of a similar caliber. He seemed to be doing a good job if our recruiting was a measure of his performance.

The dude was making 500k/year. It makes you wonder what would make him walk away from that.
You know that was kind of a loser thing to say when there's so many parts to a football team. Yea he's the head man but even then there's people behind doors just as important if not more important than him.
I could see where that could rub some people wrong that have been working their *** off. Stein could have said because my staff and the players we've gotten and will continue to get. Didn't have to be completely self centered because he's believing his own hype from a desperate football fanbase that's been getting blown out by Louisville.

For sure. There's a reason it made the front page. Espn doesn't think we are going to make anymore noise than we ever have. It was on the front page because it was a odd statement to make as a head coach.
Now one of his main people leave before the first season started. Not a good look as much as BBN wants to hype this guy up. He's never been a head coach. And he's supposed to come to the SEC and say Kentucky is going to be good because of him.
Yea you're right. Extremely narcissistic..and I'm sure any grown man working for him found it offensive. I would if my boss said that. I put in all these hours and the boss says we did this because of me.
I'm sure the GM had a major part in getting a lot of players here while Stein was still in Oregon coaching.

I assume these guys are good buddies and Stein explained the comment, as a sort of branding/attention thing. I suspect Stein knows how to manage relationships.
If not, our outlook isn’t as good as I expected. But to conclude the guy left a good job because Stein hurt his feelings seems very far fetched to me.

I'm not saying he left because of Steins comments. But regardless he made the comments then a week or two later this guy leaves. Even if he left for his own personal reason it's just a reminder that you can't be talking before you play the first game of your career.

Imo this is a bigger loss than this board is recognizing. He was the architect of Oregon rosters and a catalyst behind our roster success so far.
