I will defend them. They generate growth and jobs, and are likely to assist in making most of our lives better.
Development has some level of downside. But I’d rather live next to a data center than a factory, and both are necessary for a high functioning society in the 2020s.
Even better … many can be built somewhat away from populated areas.
That last line is the problem, they don’t want them in the middle of nowhere because the infrastructure isn’t there and the projects don’t pencil out.

Longer-term satellite records generally show a gradual decline in global burned area over recent decades, largely because of land-use changes and reduced agricultural/savanna burning in the tropics, even as extreme fires in some forested or WUI regions have become more intense or impactful in certain years. I don’t think people have an issue with that. They just tried to put one in the middle of a residential area next to a church property in my community.

Environmentalists have to be going crazy about using natural gas to generate the electricity. Kevin O'Leary is Mr Shark tank but this one is mega sized even for him. I wonder if it is a negotiating tactic to get a smaller one ultimately approved. The article mentions Utah already ia asking to have it dramatically reduced in size (by 75%?).
