I'm not even joking. I think women's basketball is multiple steps behind men's to begin with, but when we were rolling and I was watching more games, it did not seem this bad. Watch these highlights from today's WNBA All Star Game
I'm really not so sure. Something is different about the WNBA.No, the top women’s college team might have two players good enough to play in the wnba
Well, like most things on this board, I don’t really know much about what I’m opining on, I’m just going off the fact that very few college players are able to make a pro team. And I’ll dog the wnba as much as anyone, the product is boring, but that clip above is the selected worst from their game. No, I did not watch any of it or know it was on, but I think both teams scored over 120 points, so they did some things correctly.I'm really not so sure. Something is different about the WNBA.
I think Geno or Staley's teams could win the WNBA, right now. Vic and a few others could make a playoff run.
The worst WNBA team would beat the dog shlt out of the best college team, don’t be dumb.I'm really not so sure. Something is different about the WNBA.
I think Geno or Staley's teams could win the WNBA, right now. Vic and a few others could make a playoff run.
They aren’t about making money. Until we all realize that, we won’t understand the league. It’s there to create more NBA fans……women. The WNBA’s best shot at making money is Caitlin Clark. Sophie Cunningham has gained attention too, but largely because of her connection to Clark. The problem is that too many players keep fighting the league’s biggest draw. The NBA has paid the bills for years, and Bill Burr’s joke still fits: plenty of women criticize men for not supporting the WNBA, but all of them do not watch or buy tickets either.
Eerily similar to the little league world series announcers.I love how for the most part, the announcers seem to portray this as good basketball.
No chance. Even the worst WNBA team would smoke the best college team.I might believe the best college team could beat the worst WNBA team. I don’t know how big the disparity is between teams in that league.
I don’t believe there’s any chance they’re beating the best though.
No they wouldn’t. They’d get destroyed.I'm really not so sure. Something is different about the WNBA.
I think Geno or Staley's teams could win the WNBA, right now. Vic and a few others could make a playoff run.
Easily. The best boys high school team would beat the WNBA champions.
The worst WNBA team would beat the national champions by 40 points if it wanted to.I might believe the best college team could beat the worst WNBA team. I don’t know how big the disparity is between teams in that league.
I don’t believe there’s any chance they’re beating the best though.
I've never watched the WNBA, but is this an all star game? If so, from what i read, even NBA players put little effort into all star games.
Even at their peak, Alabama had maybe 6 or 7 all americans and maybe 10-15 future NFL players on it. And every one of those players was not as good at Alabama as they would be with more experience in the NFL. Alabama would have had a few players who could compete vs the worst NFL team. But would have zero quality depth and would have several holes even in the starters that real NFL players could exploit over and over. This would be like sending Gulfport to play Mississippi State. A mismatch.Someone once told me they thought Alabama football could beat a bad pro team.
No. Just no. The Browns could have spotted Alabama 21 points and still beaten them. Sure, Alabama was a great college team at that time, but they would have at most half their team that could even make the pros, and that's being very, very generous. By default, everyone on the Browns is in the pros.
It's just not even close. When you go up a level like that, the upper level is going to win. The teams in the WNBA would beat any college team.
Horribly bad take. Not even that big of a WNBA fan but the Aces or Liberty would wax them by 20The best boys high school team would beat the WNBA champions.
I agree with you, but they are doing a poor job. Men make up a higher percentage of WNBA viewers than women. It does a poor job at creating more fans. For example, my wife has never watched an WNBA game, but will watch the NBA with me.They aren’t about making money. Until we all realize that, we won’t understand the league. It’s there to create more NBA fans……women.
If you look at an NFL roster in most cases each of those players was either the best player on their college team or in the top 5. There are exceptions of course but you could say every NFL roster is a college all star team.Even at their peak, Alabama had maybe 6 or 7 all americans and maybe 10-15 future NFL players on it. And every one of those players was not as good at Alabama as they would be with more experience in the NFL. Alabama would have had a few players who could compete vs the worst NFL team. It's bad. I don't care what anyone says. Sure there can be some compelling games, but it's a tough watch in general.
No it’s not. A good high school boys team would beat WNBA players.Horribly bad take. Not even that big of a WNBA fan but the Aces or Liberty would wax them by 20

So the top teams in the women's college game is better than the WNBA.Shlt yes.
So the top teams in the women's college game are all worse than the worst WNBA team. The worst WNBA team would beat the dog shlt out of the best college team, don’t be dumb.
It would be the other way around. A good HS boys team is going to have huge size, strength and speed advantages that just can't be overcome.Horribly bad take. Not even that big of a WNBA fan but the Aces or Liberty would wax them by 20
Let's just say a men's team that failed to qualify for the NIT would DESTROY any women's team, college or WNBA.
The best boys high school team would beat the WNBA champions.

Ok, but...so what? The thread question wasnt about if boys could beat a WNBA team. It was about women vs women.
Can we sticky an SPS fact at the top of the main page? "SPS collectively knows a top 100 men's college team, and even the best HS boys team, would beat any women's college basketball team or any WNBA team."
That sticky might then keep such a non-sequitur from being forced into conversations like this.
My point was that they had freshman who would did not have the talent to be in the pros at that very moment, but ended up making the pros.Even at their peak, Alabama had maybe 6 or 7 all americans and maybe 10-15 future NFL players on it. And every one of those players was not as good at Alabama as they would be with more experience in the NFL. Alabama would have had a few players who could compete vs the worst NFL team.
