Uhmmm I know 100% human trafficking happens in the US...trainings and all....especially on major highways especially I95....i know about all, signs and tells and all that....my position was that yall was trying to make it seem like the US government was allowing this to happen to migrants
Like how you waited a day, regrouped, then come back and say “we” were saying our government was allowing this to happen. This isn’t just twisting it, this is a gutless response.

You are just a nicer version of the two sickos that are on your side. If you had any balls, you’d condone what they’ve been saying.

I actually contended that in my last post so he’s not entirely wrong. Every admin is responsible for UACs once they’re handed over from DHS to DHHS until they can be placed with a vetted sponsor due to the Border Security Act of 2002 and Fed Child Trafficking Act of 2008. From 2021-2024 the system was overwhelmed due to record border crossings. Our country simply didn’t have enough judges and courts to keep up with the millions of people crossing our border illegally. Did the Biden admin know that children were being trafficked? How could they not? Migrant children had been trafficked for decades. The more there are, the more that will be trafficked. Some traffickers were prosecuted during the Biden era. They didn’t completely turn a blind eye, but the crisis was too damaging to foreground it politically.

At this point, I’m not even sure what the other three’s argument is. Datt and duck have mostly limited themselves to demonizing a movie they’ve never seen and Boogie stops in to remind us that he seems genuinely befuddled by the topic.

Security, order, and humane. Keep saying your side is the humane side, yeah right. The side that favors abortion and some even up to birth.
Holy predictable hanging curveball, Batman!

Apologies for the mixed sports references, but that's not the slam dunk you think it is. It leads to digressive conversations into what constitutes human life, women's bodily autonomy, fetal viability, the death penalty, supporting children after birth, being pro-birth rather than pro-life, and on and on. Those are the same boring, stalemated debates we've been having for more than 50 years. Not interested.

President Obama's immigration enforcement was far, far, far more humane than President Trump's. Over Obama's entire 8 years, between 50-60 people died in ICE custody. Many have been alleged to be due to negligence, but none has been alleged to be from homicide. There have been 52 people die in ICE custody in just the first 500 days of President Trump's 2nd term, many of which have been alleged murder. I don't even know if that figure includes citizens killed on the streets of our nation under very suspect circumstances. These kinds of details give the lie to your attempts to equivocate.

The issue of trafficking shouldn’t be political. Yet Duck and Datt found what they think is a loophole. I guess if Tom Hanks had played Tim Ballard they wouldn’t complain. They are totally (and intentionally) missing the point. Both are too hung up on party politics. They may be educated, but they’re both stupid

Boogie as mastered the art of playing dumb.

He knows what he’s doing. Kind of. He dug himself a deep hole at the outset and instead of looking for a ladder he grabbed a shovel and took the gaslighting route.

Evidence? What evidence? As link after link was presented.

As we said earlier, there are issues to debate here. I just didn’t think the existence of migrant trafficking itself would be one of them.

Nah, it's called living life and not being bound to this message board...and in all honesty until I read what I read last night and got the understanding that it was assumed that I was oblivious to human trafficking I felt the need to say more...and I did, i reiterated it 2x, yall can now assume whatever you like...

And I never said migrant trafficking wasnt a thing...i just challenged the accusation that it was directly being fomented by the government...so now Trump has gutted safeguards to help with the mistakes that were....again my only contention was that it can't automatically be assumed trafficking is involved just because a child is unaccounted for....many migrants that travel all over the country from farms to farms seasonal def seem like a number that can easily become unaccounted for and be perfectly alright or unfortunately worse...right???

Already asked and answered.

You didn’t use the word ‘fomented’ but ‘allowed’. Two entirely different words with entirely different meanings.

You’re good at word salad. You may have not been as defiant on trafficking as the other two stooges, but you sure haven’t said “Yes, you guys are right, human trafficking is a serious, and horrific crime against children.” Instead, you asked for receipts, evidence, or whatever, then come back after regrouping, bring up some more garbage saying we were accusing this of being ‘formented’ by the government.

If this was poker, you should have folded.

No one ever claimed that every UAC was being trafficked or abused. Adult farm workers aren’t UACs so they haven’t been the primary focus of this conversation. If they’re UACs working on farms, they’re likely being trafficked and exploited to some degree.

“So now Trump has gutted safeguards”…
That’s a misrepresentation of what I posted about his cutting funding for DOL initiatives to combat global trafficking.

No I was repeating, I just used safeguards instead of DOL initiatives, chose not to go back for the exact wording...thats on me...

I know you won’t, but you guys should be embarrassed that you twisted something that’s real and terrible. All of us should be on the same side here.

Just because politicians and the media have made this political, doesn’t mean we have to. This topic has shown who on here are decent people, and who’s not.

Fair enough. To me, foment implies intent. I don’t think Biden intended for children to be trafficked, but I think the rise in trafficking is a foreseeable consequence of his negligence at the border. Just as the rise of ICE detainee deaths the past 18 months is a direct, foreseeable result of Trump cutting medical funding to detention facilities at the same time the number of detainees surged.

Edit: I misspoke. This article describes the funding situation more clearly. I’m not normally in the habit of using Mother Jones as a source, but it’s consistent with what an investigation led by Sen Ossoff revealed. Bottom line is some of the detainees aren’t receiving needed medical care, and this has led to at least some of the 52 deaths in ICE custody the past 18 months. The payment freeze to specialists and outside providers began in October and is ongoing.
