"Georgia running back Dante Dowdell, who transferred this offseason from Kentucky, was involved in a serious ATV accident recently and is being treated for injuries, Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart confirmed Tuesday at SEC Media Days.

Dowdell is being treated at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a hospital specializing in spinal cord and brain injuries.

"He's injured," Smart said. "We don't know when his return will be. I don't know the specifics of it, to be honest with you. It was a recreational vehicle, and he had some serious injuries."

Dowdell was injured during a visit home in Picayune, Mississippi.

"He's out of the really tough range, but as far as his complete health and coming all the way back, I don't know what that looks like in terms of this year," Smart said."

Still one of my favorite plays of the last few years. Him trucking Sanders was a great memory😁

No doubt the most unproven RB room in my 50+ years of following Husker FB. Hopefully someone steps up and shines.
Actually it reminds me of 2021. The staff was putting all its money on a true freshman, Gabe Ervin who wasn’t highly recruited just like Rule wasn’t. But the staff believed they found a diamon in the ruff. which wasn’t the case.

it's going to be okay.. they have to split time with a mobile QB.. thankful we got the Penn St. transfer though, I expect him and the freshman Rule to be the main contributors.
I've heard the talk about this kid and his potential... Seems like a ton of the talking heads are saying the same thing as you in that he's potentially the #1 or #2 guy... If he's really that good (hoping he is) then how in the world did he tumble out of sight? Literally everyone was ready to pick up the scraps from Penn State, how does the #3 RB get missed? something has me skeptical... pessimistically optimistic I guess...

When you have a coach who’s philosophy is to copy the NFL model by solely prioritizing the QB while treating RB like an afterthought, it’s not surprising this is the situation.

I heard on a podcast that he was hurt and is probably a year away from really doing anything.

I mean we had the best RB in the big 10 and his best games were Ls. Obviously our defense was trash and we needed to put up a lot of points to win and therefore relying on a 200 pound back probably wasn't going to get it done.

I watched the last year of his HS film and I wasn't too impressed. According to Tim Vergeese his Frosh and Soph HS film was much much better than the last two years. I THINK he said he lost a lot of explosion between those first two years and his last two.

What I seen on film was a bigger thick guy who was plenty physical and strong. Good contact balance and somewhat decent feet for a bigger back. What I DIDNT see was the explosion or speed. Both imo seemed lacking for such a highly rated guy.

Again I only watched Sr year film and to me he looked like a less explosive slower version of Rule. But again I don't get paid to rate these guys. Hope he's better than I think he is.

Last time I thought a highly rated back didn't look that good Dowdell looked like an entirely different back during the season vs the spring game. Hope this kid surprises as well.

I don't think he is the #1 guy by default.. I just think he is the situational battering ram that we haven't had when it's 3rd and 1 type thing. I like the freshman Rule to sort of be the guy, but he's lacking experience and Mozy might get some passes thrown his way.. they will all be situational I think until someone emerges.

Ervin was pretty good. Could have been better with a better O line. Most of the RBs we recruit are talented enough to be good college backs with the right O line play, QB and scheme.

I think he’s talented enough to look like an All American against our defense last year or against a Diaco D.
