Disagree. Anyone can educate themselves enough to discuss something like that. You don't need to have done it to know enough to talk about it. Now, if you want to argue which one knows better about it, then you might have a legit point. The person with the actual experience in just about anything might know more than the person who hasn't done it.
You're point is moot. Talking about Nascar isn't the same as driving an actual car. Talking about Nuclear Reactor Maintenance isn't the same as actually performing steps for maintaining a nuclear reactor. Talking about CD Lamb's play isn't the same as actually playing. You're referring to actually doing things, not talking about them.
These guys were just talking about it. And just because they've never done it themselves, does not mean they can't be educated about it enough to talk intelligently about it.

Yeah. They ought to just fire the White House media pool and editorial writers - they've never been President. How could they possibly know what it's like being President or how to be a great President? Only our living Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama & Biden should be able to chime in.

This is the kind of corporate ******** that I hate. Some of these people were great at their jobs. They fired Ron Franklin about 10 years ago when his voice in college football was legendary. If they could, ESPN would get in a time machine and fire Keith Jackson in the 1980's.

The ESPN guy who this thread is about (I don't even know his name without looking) is part of why "I" can't stand ESPN. He's on there spewing political BS all over the air, a lot of it unfounded. He and SVP had to acknowledge and admit their LACK of knowledge on Lacey, the player who committed suicide. This of course came after a long RANT on ESPN about bad cops and racial injustice..
Enough! A lot of us don't tune out of ESPN as part of some virtue signaling - We're just genuinely tired of the crap. The "E" in ESPN is supposed to stand for Entertainment, not politics.
I don't watch ESPN but I'm familiar with Ryan Clark from his Steelers days. He's always been a talk first, think (maybe) second guy. I think he only got into ESPN to begin with because he played next to Troy Palamalu. Troy did it all and made everyone else around him look good. Otherwise, Clark is just a journeyman safety and those guys don't get network analyst jobs.
I feel like this is about 3-4 years late. I could be wrong but I don't know if it will really work.
I really can’t listen to women talk about sports…like at all. The only sports they actually know a damn thing about are the sports I don’t pay attention to.
Somewhat side note: I’ve barely ever laughed at female comedians either. Not sure what it is.

With a female stand-up comedian you are almost guaranteed to get your standard topics every night:
1. PMS, Menopause
2. Shopping, Out on the town
3. Gender Roles, Female body
It's not funny. A lot of them are bitching and griping more than they're laughing.
As for sports commentators, we all know how terrible Beth is on ESPN. BUT.... I'm in the northwest and the Mariners have a female color commentator who is VERY solid. She's a mom, normal, no drama and she knows a lot more about baseball than I do. She knows every pitch time the second it's released, tells you about every pitch thrown, why they're throwing it, and shares insightful strategy throughout the game. She predicts pitches, where in the zone it needs to be, etc.
The best part? She has NO chip on her shoulder - she's not trying to prove she's smart at sports. (nothing worse than being at a watch party and the one female tells you the entire game how much she loves football and knows everything - when she's actuallydumb as a fence post about it).
This baseball commentator is just enjoying the game and chatting it up with the PBP guy. It's the first enjoyable woman sportscaster I've ever listened to do a game.

Criticizing is different than acting like you could do better or acting as if you have any clue what he is responsible for or does on a daily basis based on your experience coaching 9th grade B team football. The comment was in reply to someone stating that coaching P4 football in 2026 is the same as coaching P5 football in 1990 whatever it was.
So I suppose, since Rhule has never been a 9th grade B coach...he should not act like he has a clue about those responsibilities?

This and I’m sure Schraeger played sports at some level. Just because it wasn’t the NFL doesn’t mean he has no concept of what it’s like to be a player.
