Salary was 2mil a year? Dang thats good work if you can get it.

Unless it's Nebraska media, somehow the fans keep like 50 local sports media employed and Sipple is starting a 3rd show next month with Adam Carrikerwithin five years all the news and sports media will be AI, just think of the money the networks will save
Highly doubtfulwithin five years all the news and sports media will be AI, just think of the money the networks will save
Yeah, I think the "AI will replace all the __________ jobs" fear is a bit overrated. Just like when factory work started and machines and robots.Highly doubtful

McAfee has done more for espn than anyone else since the early guys who got it going. He’s the guy they needed and he’s delivering. Love him or hate him he’s bringing a lot of eyes back to espn.ESPN is paying Stephen A. Smith $20 million a year and Pat McAfee $30 million a year with a $30 million raise being negotiated. They might cut guys like this but they are overpaying the high end guys.
completely agree.. I think we are already seeing pushback on ai generated content online. Some of it is getting better, but is anyone really buying that AI based Thai Chi walking plan? (I have been getting spammed by those ads for a solid 8 months now)..well we'll have to see on that. I think there is always gonn ba a market for people in that job.
He is terrible. Can’t stand him.Salary was 2mil a year? Dang thats good work if you can get it.

Not necessarily. You can easily calculate their value. These bean counters are sharp.ESPN is paying Stephen A. Smith $20 million a year and Pat McAfee $30 million a year with a $30 million raise being negotiated. They might cut guys like this but they are overpaying the high end guys.
Most people are not smart enough to know the difference between AI slop and actual content. Or they are too careless to notice. And it's getting harder to tell the difference, but about half the new videos and news stories that come from generic sources are AI crap. I hate the stuff. I would love to see this pushback on AI content you are talking about but I haven't seen anything. These media companies care mostly about engagement, feeding people more and more crap that people get suckered into clicking on.completely agree.. robotics manufacturing will just continue to become more automated.. take for instance a local bottling plant that puts out 50 thousands cans of coke or whatever every day, and there are like 3 people that work there, and it's been that way for years now.
I think we might see the work week shift to a 4 day / 32 hour week though.
Not that I am defending him . Because I really never liked him personally. But I agree with him on the non player comment. To many of these reporters that probably never played in HS let alone the Pros are trying to give their views on how a player should act from a player’s point of view.
Hell yes. Whatever happened to journalists who would defer to the experts- former GMs, coaches, and players? Schrager has never played the game, never coached the game, and yet he acts like he knows more than everyone else. Not that I am defending him . Because I really never liked him personally. But I agree with him on the non player comment. To many of these reporters that probably never played in HS let alone the Pros are trying to give their views on how a player should act from a player’s point of view.
But you need to have played the game if you are going to analyze a player’s play like he did with CC Lamb in the segment in this thread. And that’s what I am talking about. There are certain things you can’t talk about unless you played the game.Wrong. You don't need to have played to be able to know what the hell you're talking about when it comes to sports. When it comes to anything, really. Do you need your oncologist to have actually had cancer in order to know about cancer?
It's called learning, and there are plenty of resources, history, examples, etc available from which to learn.
Yes. Most Nascar drivers have never driven a car before they join the circuit. They just read a book about it, maybe two. This afternoon I am going to watch a YouTube video on Nuclear Reactor Maintenance. Then I figure on going down to Brownville. I hear they pay well.Wrong. You don't need to have played to be able to know what the hell you're talking about when it comes to sports. When it comes to anything, really. Do you need your oncologist to have actually had cancer in order to know about cancer?

I see a lot of friends share videos that they didn’t know were AI and when they find out it was AI, they say it was still funny. As long as they find it interesting, I don’t think a lot of people will care. Most people are not smart enough to know the difference between AI slop and actual content. This popped up in another thread. The poster said that we should not criticize Rhule because none of us have been a D1 head coach before.Wrong. We aren’t taking about criticism in this case . He was talking specifically about a player on how was playing the game and doing or not doing specific things in that game.and Yes in my opinion you need to have played the game if you are going to talk about a player that way . And as far as rhule or any coach it depends on how you are criticizing them . If you say he just sucks as a coach because he has 59-60 record that’s fine. But if you are criticizing them for something specific in the way they are approaching their job you have never walked in those shoes you are off base IMOThis popped up in another thread. So like...the posters that bought into the stories of Frost playing golf and drinking...since that was "his approach" to his job, and those posters have never been D1 coaches, they were way off base!We aren’t taking about criticism in this case . I actually used the wrong word there. Approach was incorrect .So like...the posters that bought into the stories of Frost playing golf and drinking...since that was "his approach" to his job, and those posters have never been D1 coaches, they were way off base!![]()
What they need is a panel of 4-6 AI bots that yell and shout over each other with hot AI takes. And run it for 20 hours a day.I actually don't doubt SportsCenter goes with AI eventually. China is now going all out to compete with Hollywood via AI. Will it work? (Shrug). No idea. But The incentive is there to make it work and I think SportsCenter is more feasible than a feature film, so if China pulls it off with blockbusters - it's probable in the future.
Play by play for games? Probably never. That's the human element we need.
Highlights in the studio? Not out of the question at all IMO

That interaction was 10 months ago. I agree it is not the reason. As for Clark, he wasn't let go for that interaction. That's just July speculation. It was budget cuts. Happens to most former players who get ESPN jobs. After you are out of the game 10 years, time for some new blood.
