I am fine with it. Hampton has stud potential.
I’m glad Mark broke into the top 20, with a real quality player that isn’t hurt. Nowhere near the elite player he going to need I don’t think. Admittedly, I was almost certain without being absolute that Hampton wasn’t coming here. Not sure what we paid to get that done but probably a lot. So long before he got here I wasn’t thrilled with his game at all. I don’t believe he’s going to be that good freshman year. Having said that sign him the f up for this season. Mark is gonna need all the help he can get, and this is about dead in the water. He literally cannot lose.

U act like we have some juggernaut roster. This guy has talent and potential. He would be a rotational player for sure. Added another talented player is never a bad thing.
It’s amazing to me people look at this roster and think it’s a competitor lol. This roster is mid / tier 2. Somewhere in there, it’s not a championship roster, it’s not winning the SEC most likely, and we will be in a rinse repeat cycle middle of best season.

If someone actually looks at that roster and believes it’s fantastic, they have no idea what they’re looking at and likely have no idea what they’re doing here. They damn sure didn’t play that much is certain. This is a 10+ loss team all day everyday. As many as 14 I’d say.

Another sign that Hawthorne isn’t ready.
Hawthorne is EKY bait. Not impressed at all, do not believe he will be a factor at any point for the brand. He’ll go smaller to play after this season..

Celtic, you can keep those Arkansas State Troopers. Good lord man, that’s just Americas 6th branch lol. Guys ain’t playin. Easily the baddest State troopers in America.

So 3 guys his first year at almost 30 mins a game. Butler would’ve been there too if not injured. Then last year 2 over 30 and Collin around 30 and only not at 30 because his role wasn’t established early. He rides his main 2-4 guys around 30 mins a game then spreads the rest out. That’s what Almost every coach does as well.

If he reclassed today, he’s probably the starter at the 3.

Diallo
Wilkens
Hampton
Mom
Moreno

To borrow a phrase from Cal…I like my team.
That would be a terrible ides

- outside of Moreno….no defense or rebounding inside Mom averaged 2 boards a game last year
- Hampton is not an elite prospect like a John wall or Anthony Davis or KAT were. He is a high volume low efficiency player today that is maturing into his game
- there is no evidence Hampton will be a plus defender. I’d argue if Hampton wants to get to college, develop a bit , play barely and get ready for 2027-28 seasons …fine by me. Anything other than that….not helpful to Ky

Both years Pope had 8 guys playing 17 MPG or more. What did I say? I said it doesn't matter if Hampton starts or not, if he is better than player 7 or 8 getting those 20 minutes then we are a better team. If Hampton comes here this season he will get 20 a game starting or as a sub. What's your point?

Everyone seems to think we don’t play our main guys a lot though and we do. Also if Hampton is here next year and in our top 7-8 we are going to be way worse than I believe we will be. He’s not ready at all.

You’re 100% spot on! But a good majority of the fans that frequent here would still say and believe the same thing if UK and Lexington Catholic swapped players. Hopium is a hellava drug!

I got pulled over by ASP in Poinsett County three times between September last year and February this year. I went YEARS without getting pulled over. Going and coming back from a parish council meeting in Memphis last night, saw around a dozen ASP. I consider myself solidly conservative and generally speaking support police, but they’ve gotten crazy here in just the last two years or so.

The only issue I have with the reclass if that Hampton clearly isn't ready from a skill level. He's been struggling all summer. Does he (and moreso his dad) come in next year expecting 25 minutes/game? Could lead to a transfer after year one.

I hope his family is more measured than that and that they wait their turn, understanding Hampton's current limitations and ready to see themselves as multi-year instead of a traditional OAD.

Diallo - Morton - M. Williams
Wilkins - Hampton - M. Williams - Noah
K. Williams - Hawthorne - Hampton - Noah
Milan - McBride - N'Diaye
Moreno - Kepnang - N'Diaye* - Potter

*Does Pope go small ball with N'Diaye at the 5 at times and can N'Diaye bulk up enough to allow Pope to play 5 out?

100%....

Guys just don't tend to sit the bench for a year and are fine with it...and then they leave.

Just play high school and enjoy your last year of that and then focus on college.....he's not going to help UK next year

I think he’s the dude that thinks Hawthorne is gonna be one of the leading scorers. Odd.

Milan is the 3. Not kam
lol. Stop it. And lemme guess…you think McBrides the starter at the 4? That lineup would give up 120 pts/game. Mom is the 4. He’s the perfect stretch/small ball 4. He couldn’t defend a 3 in the SEC if his life depended on it. Hell, he’s gonna be awful guarding a 4 but at least he’s got a chance against that type of player.

Pope has been after another 3 for a good while and he sees them in practice. I thought we're pretty solid at the 3 but I don't see them everyday. And...what if Kam is less of a sure thing than most of us think, MM cant play D and Brayden just isn't ready yet? Again...Pope has a woody for a 3 for some reason...and he sees them more than we do.
Amazing how the “Hawthorne is gonna be a stud” people can’t come to this conclusion.

I do agree we recruited kusturica to come in. At that talent level you take him and figure it out. But yes everyone else has been at the 4/5 depth type spot. Kusturica is also a 2/3 type. Zoom Wilkins Milan Ousmane and MM will be the starting 5
If Hampton does indeed reclass…@ me and we can figure out a friendly wager.

Rebounding in the sec would be a big concern
It’ll be a big concern no matter of the lineup. You think McBride is gonna rebound? Ndiaye? Yeah, me neither. I’m more than concerned about the defensive side of the court, with rebounding being a huge part of that concern. Hard to get a stop if you can’t get a board.

Ridiculous.
Why do you find it so hard to believe? The people that have watched practices this last month have all had the same types of comments. Doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t get it going, but currently he’s struggling.

For a dude that’s added 15-20 lbs and is playing on that frame for the first time ever, shouldn’t be a big shock.

He ran out of choices both years. Look at mins distribution in the games he had full rosters available. It was maddening.

You can’t put a team on the floor, with this roster, that CAN defend and rebound. It’s going to be historically bad. Gonna hafta score. A lot. Hampton is better than any other option at the 3 in regards to offense.

Thanks the lord I never see them between west Memphis and Jonesboro. My wife’s Telluride almost comes off the highway on that stretch. Cruise at 90 and go.

But you think Hawthorne and Kam will be? 🤦🏻‍♂️
When did I say Hawthorne would be? Our top 8 will be zoom Wilkins Milan Ousmane Moreno as starters. Bench will be Franck, McBride Morton and Mason. Hawthorne will get some run early to see what he has just like Trent will. And yes Kam is better than Hampton at this point in their careers.

That’s false. Last year it was out of necessity some because of Lowe and JQ being out. Zel played as much as he could unless fouls. The first year just going off the first 3 big games with everyone he played OO, butler, Jax and Carr around 30 mins avg. Does he have some weird sub patterns? Yes. But he rides his best players around same mins everyone else does in the regular season. Then In postseason the rotation shortens even more.

This. The fear is that it could be a repeat of the Jasper Johnson scenario. A highly rated hyped kid who wasn’t yet mature enough or ready for this level, so he has a miserably disappointing first season, and then immediately transfers out.

If we do this, I hope it comes with the understanding that the primary purpose of his first year is just to prepare him for the second year. If he comes in with high expectations that could quickly lead to unhappy camper syndrome.

that stretch of 55 in Crittenden County is tricky for them because they can’t cross the median to get you if you’re going opposite directions. However, they are all over the place between Marked Tree and Trumann.

At least someone else sees that would be his probable role. People thinking he would come in and start are crazy. He is talented but needs some refining and understanding of how to play team ball as well.

If you can get that reclass, you bring him in for this season. Momcilovic will play a lot of 3, but Hampton will find some minutes if Kam struggles to make it back to form. Hawthorne and N'Diaye will figure into it. It's going to be Zoom, Wilkins, Momcilovic, and Moreno getting the lions share, with not much certain after those 4. He could very well work his way into a starting role depending on the matchups.
