So what happens when these companies cease to exist in their current form? Is the money paid up front and the school gets to sell the rights again? 15 years is a long time in the corporate world.

Should sell the naming rights to the streets around the athletic facilities while we’re at it as well as the buildings around the facilities and tailgate areas. Keep the traditional building names but put up some sort of tastefully done sponsorship signage. We either have to go all in or get out at this point.

I joked years ago that Jack Cristil would soon be announcing something like "he's at the Shell 50...crosses the Golden Flake 30...and into the C Spire Redzone for a Coca Cola First Down!!!"

The College Sports Commission intends to start cracking down on these NIL deals a little. I dont know who owns Galaxy, but the company will now be considered "associated with the University" making any NIL deals subject to the stricter scrutiny....if that means much.

Serious quesion, can we even do this? I assume there was something signed with Davis Wade about the naming rights. Does it last forever? If Dr. Pepper (just an example) said here's $50 million to name it we just have to say no? Or it would literally be Dr. Pepper, David Wade Stadium?

The naming rights contracts I have seen, which admittedly can be counted on one hand, all have language which addresses this. The new name must be mutually approved by both parties and if it isnt, the contract is terminated early and compensation for remaining years is accounted for.
Relatedly, the contracts also had an out to allow a name change if the name was no longer in good standing(so if the named company is found to knowingly support terrorist and trafficking activity, then the contract could end early so the arena name could change.)

As for if a company is bought out/merged, a new name may not be mutually approved in instances like if Pornhub buys Wells Fargo, or something like that.

But before you enter Country Pleasin Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field be sure to tailgate in the Pearl River Resort Junction where the Mossy Oak Famous Maroon Band and Cal-Maine Foods MSU dance team will be on hand to entertain fans.
I would have zero problem with this. Also maybe, "today's broadcast brought to you by Flock Cameras."

Southerners like NASCAR so that should be fine.

Isn't Davis Wade basically the same thing? It's the dude that gave money to have his name on the building. So why would corporate sponsorship be any different? Maybe stay away from Dude Wipes. Of course that is a natural fit for the Baseball Stadium for us.

Just go all in with the casinos at this point. They are re-investing on the coast. Expect Caesar’s new owners to do the same at other Mississippi properties. Must be seeing some growth coming back

I think Waste Management at Davis Wade, home of the flaming Dumpsters sounds appropriate. Negotiate $1000 for 10 years. We pay $1M if WM backs out. That's great management there.
