Last two years for Mike = 7-17, 3-13 in a weak conference. Got a 3rd year at FSU.

Can Matt have the same record starting here on out and still get 3 more years?

No...Rhule is done this year. I know people think that the buyout will save him but that money is already there and ready to go.

Norvell has more wins against top 25 teams in the last 3 years than Rhule will retire with.

He also gleefully looked into Matt Rhules bowl and ate straight from it.

They're not the same at all.

If we win 7 or more games this year Rhule will be back. Win 6 and his seat will be red red molten hot. Win 5 or less with our relatively easy schedule this year outside of the big three (OSU, Oregon, IU) and he will be gone.
The free radical in all of this that makes it hard to predict is the quality of the new coaches. But I am pessimistic and I therefore think Rhule will be gone. We don’t have a proven QB or running back. And our defensive line doesn’t strike fear into anyone. Plus, Rhule is a wretched in-game coach.

I am extremely worried about Rhule’s softness rubbing off on Wade

The GT coach is a tough, intense dude who is committed to running the football and imposing his will

Rhule is the polar opposite

Hopefully it really was Geep who produced the lion’s share of those GT OL results and he’s up to the task of bringing a total mindset shift to the entire team because that’s the only way the ship will start to turn

Unfortunately we know how Rhule reacts to intense dudes who bring their own culture

If there is money be collected to buy out a coach then that money should be transferred to NIL. Instead of trying to set the program back to the starting line, maybe help improve the program. I can not think of any game that can be won by being constantly being sent back to go.

It is not being sent back to go.

Coaches have done this amazing job of convincing fans of a few things.

1. That they work 900 hours a week during the season and 800 hours a week during the off season.

2. That they are always sleepig in their office because of all the work they do.

3. That it somehow takes players 3-4 years to learn the plays and calls.

None of this is true.

Rhule drives away his best coaches which is why he keeps guys like Barthel and Satt around long term.

I have perused all of the college football magazines and nary a one even has Rhule on a warm seat let alone a hot seat. Most make the comment that Nebraska hadn't been to a bowl game in 8 or 9 years and Rhule has taken Nebraska to back to back bowl games. I guess we will see what happens.

The rest of the schools in the B1G will pay the Nebraska AD to keep Lil Matty as HC.

Nebraska is like the last kid picked for the grade school baseball game.

Sooooooo the rest of the schools are scared and want to keep NU down? Thank you, thank you for proving my point! That is exactly what I have been saying, that is why when you are not getting to the top, you fire your coach. Instead of keeping them around forever. Like your fan base has done. #7.44

Okay, so can you finally tell us the last meaningful game that iowa played in?

Only the extension is keeping the tabloids from saying that MAtt is on the Hot Seat

He should be with this being written about him for 2026:
Per ESPN

* Number of losses: 5.3
* Win-out chance: 0.0%
* Chance of reaching six wins: 74.5%
* Chance of winning the Big Ten: 0.7%
* Chance of making the College Football Playoff: 7.3%
* Chance of making the national championship game: 0.4%
* Chance of winning the national championship: 0.1%
