Just a reminder, but France vs. Spain starts in an hour. Should be a good one. Two of the best players in the world going at it.

I think France wins, but it won't be easy.

Does fifa mostly care about European audiences? Or is it normal to play really important matches at 2pm local time on a Tuesday?

***not shiiting on soccer - genuinely curious!

Since three of the last four teams are European, FIFA is scheduling these games so they will be in primetime in Europe. If the US or Mexico was playing in these games, I'm sure they would be at a primetime start in the US.

Seem like a missed opportunity to grow it in USA. I'm only assuming that's even a goal of theirs based off the tournament (mostly) being here.

I was going to say north America but I guess it prolly couldn't get a lot more popular in Mexico. And also fifa might know more about it than me!

They'll still get real good ratings in USA. Kids are out of school and lot's of people are on vacation (or at least two half-day vacations) or will be watching tonight on DVR (my option).

Spain is like a football team that runs the ball down your throat. You’re not scoring on them because they’re not going to let you have the ball for very long, and they’re going to own you in the trenches (central midfield and defense.

I’ve said for a while that France vs Spain is the de facto final…. I still believe that. I don’t see England or Argentina being able to fare much better than France did.

France was clearly the best team in the tournament 🤣
I don't know why I'm doing this, but... Are you saying you didn't think they looked like the best team the whole tournament before today?

I guess we will all find out who is the best after the next two games, so it will be easy to look back and call it at that point. But most people thought France was the clear favorite to win, based on results before today's game. Spain played a much better game today for sure, but that doesn't change the fact that France looked impressive up until now.
