Were you disgusted when Trump celebrated Mueller's death?
Yes sir, I was. Life is to valuable and too important to celebrate a man’s death!! Especially someone who has done so much our state and our country!!! Just like it’s sickening for people to be upset about the unborn babies having a chance to live…it’s a sick world with a bunch of sick people it!!!! And so many of them are on this board!!

I might have missed it, but I don’t think WSJ said anything about her qualifications for this outside of being related to LG:

Can’t say for certain it’s very consequential, but it’s definitely disappointing unless she has some serious qualifications I missed.

Serious side note question: does the person temporarily filling a senate or house seat take over the same positions in their committees? Or are the committees re-organized when an important member is replaced? It’s been way too long since I studied government

Looked it up and she is unlikely to be appointed to the same positions. It is determined by party leadership it seems and it’s likely the shuffle things around I would think.

That makes it a lot more palatable to me. Still don’t like it, but at least it’s only a few months and doesn’t give an edge to anyone that’s a legit contender for the special election/primary.

She won’t stand a chance vs Rubio or Vance.

Who knows, Piggy. 2028 is a long way away. If Trump's health holds out long enough for him to make it to 2028, it will be interesting to see who he will support. I also wonder how the lame duck issues that have affected every president near the end of his tenure will affect Trump. History suggests that this is virtually impossible to escape, even for someone as teflon coated as Trump.

I think this is outrageous. McMaster should be tarred and feathered. He could have appointed Jim Demint or someone else with some experience under explicit instructions that they were a place holder.
We have to agree to disagree. If you are ok with a place holder then why are you not ok with someone who will vote exactly as Lindsey would have? Would your "place holder" vote differently? Then of course, they wouldnt even be a place holder.

If he were to appoint anyone else, that would be a huge advantage in the special election. It would be Henry putting his thumb on the scale.

I think an open primary and let the people select the person with the best ideas is what we will end up with and i think that is a good thing.

Its so unserious to appoint a person who is not qualified for the job.... right?
Why appoint a random person to a senate seat? Is meritocracy only applied to others? Interesting.
A placeholder is a placeholder. It doesn't matter. She will vote as Lindsey would have which is exactly what a placeholder is supposed to do.

not shocking that yall learned nothing about open primaries with Kamala.

I would be fine with them voting differently than LG. I have wanted him out for awhile. I wanted a place holder with some experience to fill the spot until the new person takes over in January. That is half a year.

Id add the senate is not in session for those full 6 months. It's really only about 4 months. And while i disagreed with his foreign policy stances, he still served our state well for a long time. I think it is a sign of respect and a nice honor. Others are free to disagree, i understand your position. You aren't wrong, but I don't think this decision is wrong either. Henry was going to be criticized no matter who he picked. I think this was a fine choice. No harm and leaves the decision to the people.

there's also the fact that his sister doesn't have any legislative experience, and now she's being thrust into the single most important legislative body in the country

if you wanted ideological consistency, you could have appointed any of his many staffers (his chief of staff has been with him since the mid 90s) and maintained a level of instiutional knowledge and awareness that's absolutely necessary to be a functional US senator

but let's be real...once trump suggested something or someone, that was going to be it. there's only downside for mcmaster in abiding trump on this.

I'd argue that the experience gained by most legislators doesn't improve them,.. She'll be fine for now.

I'll argue for things I agree with,.. I'm sure you do the same.
I think people would respect you more if this was the case. But, unless I missed it, you seemingly side with Trump on everything. No two people on this planet have the exact same opinion on every topic. Yet weirdly you echo Trump talking points all the time. I voted Harris and yet I can say I disagreed with her wishy washy stance on Israel, the Biden stimulus and on the border, among others.

Now you go…give us the top topics where you disagree with Trump and why.

Trump talks way too much and this bad habit frequently gets him into trouble,.. He also lacks an appropriate level of sophistication for the office that he holds,.. There.

You do know that no one knows how LG would have voted in the future. It's just a guessing game. And the fact is, LG is dead, he no longer is able to vote so voting like LG is stupid. An actual qualified person should be put in place and they should vote based on knowledge, not based on a guess of what a dead guy is thinking. FYI, he's dead, he's thinking of nothing.

Appreciate that you answered. I would point out though I asked for topics and you delivered stylistic points.

He did answer your question, he doesn't disagree on any topic. Life is easy for him, whatever trump thinks, he thinks.

I really didn't think 38% of the people in the U.S. were so easily controlled by someone like trump.

The fact that after literally years of claiming that DEI is racist against white men, now Fatpiggy loves DEI is just one more example of this weak bitches lack of integrity.

When 80+% of our politicians are funded by AIPAC these are the outcomes we've grown accustomed to. I wish the people would use logic, common sense and a hefty dose of research before casting their votes. Sadly over 90% just choose based on a letter in front of names.
Lmao. Future Forward USA and Senate Majority PAC, both Dem PACS, spend $550 million, and $750 million respectfully. AIPAC spends $100 million.

I agree, but what is sad is that even with that he was a better choice than any other party supplied.
