You can say Lexington, Louisville or maybe Bowling Green. Everywhere else, say the county. Lol

In my experience, folks within 500 miles of the state border know Lex, Louisville, BG, Owensboro, E-Town, Paducah, and Ashland (and maybe Richmond). Go beyond 500 miles and it narrows to Louisville, Lexington, and maybe BG.

I had a chance to see the Ashland “Jaws “ defense back in the day. I never played against Ashland , we didn’t schedule each other back then.
Oddly enough, I was good friends with Chuck Broughton from Ashland.

That Jaws team was really good. They were fun to watch. I played baseball with several of the guys back in the day.
I knew Mike and Clara Broughton. Mike was a good football player in his own right.
Clara was in my grade.

If any of you like to trout fish, I highly recommend that you book a trip to fish on the White, Norfork Rivers in Arkansas, you won't regret it!! I have been going for the last few years, largest one I've caught was a 8lb Brown! Great place!!!

If you like to duck hunt, the White River there is an awesome place as well.
