Current comes around the ends of the islands because usually where the water coming from the rivers has to go. It piles into the sound and flushes out around the islands. This is going to turn into a huge controversy. Where a few people will be blamed but who knows what really happened.
Anyways, I know nothing other than piecing together what has been said on Facebook. But I've been out there once in kayak and can remember That west edge of the island having some current.
I can't recall seeing an alligator but they are out there.
I've already seen some online chatter where it is trying to be turned into a race issue. This is going to turn into a huge controversy. Where a few people will be blamed but who knows what really happened.
I'd really like to know how much of that is social media just makes morons more visible and how much of it is that getting into an echo chamber really produces more morons. Without knowing more, it makes the people he was on a boat with look like huge *** holes, but generally people aren't inviting people on boats because they don't like them.I've already seen some online chatter where it is trying to be turned into a race issue.
It's that, and it exposes people's true thoughts. It's insane what these folks really think. I mean like straight up, utter stupidity.I'd really like to know how much of that is social media just makes morons more visible and how much of it is that getting into an echo chamber really produces more morons.
That was expected, hoes before bros...or something like that.so, one of the comments is that friends don't leave friends behind. I understand that the ladies have this agreement, but as a guy we would often tell our friends to go ahead if we weren't ready to leave, particularly if there was a female prospect in the picture. Is this your experience as well? I would also like to remove the incident where someone was overly intoxicate, that changed the equation and you took them home.

You know the saying - "My dick has taken me places I wouldn't go with a gun".Many of males have gone separate of their group in the less than desirable situations for the one thing that's undefeated
A tragedy like this rarely happens without the poor judgment of one or more parties. When you're on the water, particularly off shore, it doesn't take a lot of bad judgment to get a tragic result. He shouldn't have separated without somebody else. He shouldn't have walked off without a phone. If he was drinking, they really shouldn't have let him go alone. If they were trusting that he was going to catch another ride, they shouldn't have without confirmation. Presumably he went swimming by himself at some point, or at least waded out deep enough that currents could be a problem for him.Who knows what the truth is but ... people keep repeating ....3 left the one behind.
But others are saying, no, dude left to chase a girl. He never came back. Last they seen him was 330ish and they were at the island until 730ish. To which they notified parents and authorities at that time, either on the island or near the main land.
As a young man at that age, yes, many times I went out with one group of people and occasionally I was driven home by someone else for a variety of reasons. I'm sure it happens all the time.
There is definitely a significant group out there that is desperately wanting this to be sinister. Matter of fact, in their minds, they've already decided that it was. It is absolutely mind-blowing and I'm not wasting my time trying to understand it any longer. If there was something sinister,

Yep. Saw one post on Facebook saying "I don't want to hear that this was an accident, I want to see justice on the people who did this." People always claim race without knowing all the facts or refuse to accept them. The Delta State student that got found hanging from a tree. Nobody wanted to accept the results and got a private autopsy lead by Colin Kaepernickp. There is a reason why nobody heard back from that private autopsy. The second autopsy had the same results as the initial autopsy.
This is the damn truth. My dad almost killed me, my brother, and a buddy several years back running straight in to a storm we could have watched pass. I kept yelling at him it was a terrible 17ing idea and his selfish *** almost ran us to our death. The boat was thrown completely 180 by a huge wave on the starboard. It threw everybody on the ground and a few minor bumps and bruises. Then everyone panicked, put on life vest, got out floatation because we all thought we were dead. Same system capsized several boats in Lake P and I’m pretty sure there were some drownings. Had a big coast guard response & rescue. We watched it coming from east to west from about 8 miles out and could have safely watched it cross from IAP but his hardheaded *** ran right in to it because he had decided he wanted to drive home that afternoon. Ended up being a lesson on the water I’ll never forget and something I still haven’t forgiven him for due to sheer stupidity. The ocean wants to kill you, it goes to bed at night wanting to kill you and wakes up in morning wanting to kill you.
Also remember: "Never put your finger anywhere you wouldn't put your d1ck"You know the saying - "My dick has taken me places I wouldn't go with a gun".
Anytime I see where a person got caught in rip current on the Florida or Alabama coast, I think back to a particular beach trip when I was about 7 years old. My family plus some aunts, uncles, and cousins took long weekend trip to Pensacola in September of 1988. The weather was perfect, but there was actually an exceptionally strong Hurricane - Hurriane Gilbert - crossing the Gulf Mexico while we were there. Even though it was far off, the waves in Pensacola were like something you would see in Cabo or another Pacific beach known for rough surf. I don't recall any red flags or the beach being closed and it did not deter any of us in the least. 6 kids all under the age 15 in the water / surf all day long with no thought of putting a life vest on. It is amazing nobody drowned. This is the damn truth. My dad almost killed me, my brother, and a buddy several years back running straight in to a storm we could have watched pass. There are astoundingly stupid comments being made. I guess probably not that stupid in the context of the internet, but it's still somewhat amazing how many people don't know have any idea of how basically anything works and yet have a strong opinion. I guess you rarely have a reason to interact with the ~20% of able bodied young people that don't work and it's shocking to see just how stupid they are. I guess I also have never contemplated how many people are never around water and don't understand how drowning works.People always claim race without knowing all the facts or refuse to accept them. I was at Lake Caroline the day a girl drowned there, probably more than 5 years ago. But yeah, she just fell off the boat and hit her head. Tragic.Another tragic incident that came to mind besides the teenager that died at Ship Island is there was a teenager that drowned in Lake Caroline also in the past decade, probably more like past 5 years. Probably 10 feet deep at its deepest and the guy jumps off the boat and they didn't find his body until they got imaging equipment involved.
I mean, yeah, that’s kind of a Captain Obvious statement though. A perfectly healthy 16 year old kid isn’t just walking down the street and minding his own business and then suddenly found dead on an uninhabited island that’s 8 miles from the coast of his home town without SOMEBODY’s bad judgment or malicious judgment.A tragedy like this rarely happens without the poor judgment of one or more parties.

Damnit. That is just sickening.
I’ve definitely gone home with a girl after arriving with a group of friends and had several instances where a friend would leave with a girl after arriving with me/group of friends…. But I think we were always pretty responsible in making sure each of us knew we were leaving with someone else. I’d have a real hard time leaving a buddy at a place like horn island without being 100% certain he was safe.so, one of the comments is that friends don't leave friends behind. They were on Horn Island for the 4th. Probly a hundred boats out there celebrating. He went with 3 white friends. He didn't just turn up on the island. High tide was at 2:31. As it was going back out the current going around the island can be pretty swift. Autopsy will tell usI mean, yeah, that’s kind of a Captain Obvious statement though. Is there a truly some widespread narrative that this was some million-to-one, act of God, wrong place / wrong time sort of situations? Full disclosure - I haven’t the slightest clue what happened or even of what the speculation is. I just can’t see anyone making an argument that this was just happenstance / bad luck.
Isle Au Pitre
We must not be coullions.Ah, so obvious. How did we not all know that???
Well now you know and can pretend to be a slightly above novice MS/LA inshore fisherman. You’re welcomeAh, so obvious. How did we not all know that???
Way more than 100 boats were out there Saturday. Both the north and south side of the west end were packed. We went down another 500-600 yards east from where we normally park at the dunes there were so many boats. They were on Horn Island for the 4th. Probly a hundred boats out there celebrating.
