I am at curious optimism. I’m hoping they found the recipe. Very good coaching can sometimes mask the obvious problems. I will watch every game because that is what I (we) all do. Go Big Red!
They are all the same exact team. Teams that don't compete for the playoffs are all the same exact team.In the last 16 games between those two teams, we have won 2 of them. We are nowhere close to being Iowa and Minny.
The "I don't watch the games" people are like the "I don't watch ESPN" people.I’m confused by so many claiming they don’t give two sh!ts about Husker football anymore, yet they spend a lot of their free time on a Husker message board.
Wishful thinking. I'm convinced that it is a lot more difficult for Nebraska to win than it used to be. Administration, coaching, tougher schedule. For me, the good news is that I do believe Rhule is done either during this season or at the end of the season.
Then we get the excitement of a coaching search and fresh NIL donations. Indiana is trying to replicate what NU did in the mid-late 90's...and there is no reason that NU can't do that again.
Once Matt is gonzo
Part of me thinks we could be in a situation similar to Frank Solich's last year albeit with a much tougher schedule and worse record. Rhule is going to have a better coaching staff and in the near term, after this year, we'll be on the rise as a program. Lessons learned, good recruits coming in....I think he gets one more unless he’s like 3-8 or 2-9.
I only watch Nebraska on TV when it comes to college football. Maybe an occasional game that somewhat resembles what college football used to be-- a lesser conference game where the players aren't paid as much or they play a unique style of offense.I honestly don’t see myself watching college football in the near future. NIL will turn it into NFL lite, and I’m not an NFL fan. This will make it much easier to deal with the fact that Nebraska will never be great again.
Spot on. We've had very few Nebraska football players on our team for many years now. Not enough Ty Robinsons or Emmett Johnsons or even lesser talented kids but guys who loved Husker football. What we have now are hired guns, and these guys can't shoot straight.I'm just pissed that our roster is full of non-professionals who will make more money than doctors and surgeons to barely beat bowling green and ohio. The only reason they are being paid this much is because our coach, who is making about 20-30 surgeons worth of money a year is bad at his job and can't bring in good talent, and they are all being paid so much because our program was great 25 years ago, and those people who made it great don't get a cent. Nebraska exemplifies everything wrong with the sport.
As fans, yes but our team has a long way to go before it can say it's an Iowa or Minnesota. This is what I have said too...
We are now iowa and minny. Where the fans are like "ehhh" about the game and some of the students don't even know who they are playing that weekend.
Yeah! And why the hell am I still here? I guess this is just an easy place to spout off an opinion. Or it's just a habit?I’m confused by so many claiming they don’t give two sh!ts about Husker football anymore, yet they spend a lot of their free time on a Husker message board.
Good post, but I'll pick out one thing that you said. College football is A LOT like MLB in one way. The top teams steal talent from the middle and lower tier. Smaller market teams just develop guys for the Dodgers, Yankees and so on. College football is worse of course since players can just leave whenever they want and as often as the want.MLB baseball has no relationships to College football.
Sorry yall but we are below Iowa and Minny. We are in the echelon of Rutgers and Maryland at the moment. This is what I have said too...

Yes but 1 big thing you’ve omitted, the Dodgers have had one of the best (if not the best) farm systems in the MLB the last 15 years. They develop top level talent AND can sign anyone they want.Good post, but I'll pick out one thing that you said. College football is A LOT like MLB in one way. I wonder if its like this for everyone that is of a certain age....I am a Cubs fan and could name the starting 9 for the 84 team better than who they have on todays roster. When you are younger small things like that make a bigger imprint.I only watch Nebraska on TV when it comes to college football. Maybe an occasional game that somewhat resembles what college football used to be-- a lesser conference game where the players aren't paid as much or they play a unique style of offense.
I miss the days of old where we were very interested in the outcomes of games nationally because it affected NU's run for a conference or national championship. I knew the team's players back then. Now players change teams more often than the Lincoln Salt Dogs and the Independent League.
NFL interest has definitely gone up. Was NIL a diabolical plot hatched by Goodell?Barely have a pulse. Gone full NFL instead, so it isn't age.
Didn't realize Rhule is only 51. Will be interesting to see if he lands somewhere.Forget my interest level, I have a hard time finding ANY fans who are at a high level. A few fans I know are giving Rhule more time, but I've met zero who are pumped.
That is just sad. Rhule knows his time in Lincoln is almost done - he is now doing career management the best he canIMO. His career of hopping to a higher-paying job appears to be over.
Unless Eichorst likes what he see's and opens the checkbook for him.
It's largely money on the development side as well.Yes but 1 big thing you’ve omitted, the Dodgers have had one of the best (if not the best) farm systems in the MLB the last 15 years. They develop top level talent AND can sign anyone they want.

No...they are all the same exact team.As fans, yes but our team has a long way to go before it can say it's an Iowa or Minnesota.
I don’t think Iowa’s offense is hanging 40+ on their own defense on their best day.It is all the same exact team.
I see him similar to Bo’s path - live on the money, take a smaller job and then retire young from coaching. I don’t think Rhule has the talent to be a coordinator. Small school who needs a hype man might nab him (Temple style)Didn't realize Rhule is only 51. Will be interesting to see if he lands somewhere.
Other than going 1-11 I don't see him going anywhere. Taylor is tied to himDidn't realize Rhule is only 51. Will be interesting to see if he lands somewhere.
Well, they don't play that way.I don’t think Iowa’s offense is hanging 40+ on their own defense on their best day.
Wish they tried to milk the clock on us last year instead of dropping 44 and looking like an offensive juggernaut.Well, they don't play that way.
They don't try to score TD's first...they try to milk clock first. Same on defense...they don't try for big plays on D, they try to make the other team drive the field and eat clock.
Yes, quite a few moves that a CEO level coach does not make. I like to evaluate with these things in terms of what an urban Meyer or Nick Saban would do. Some of the stuff was just amateurish. Having a previous relationship with someone is not the end all be all for personnel decisions.I'm probably about a 6 myself. Holding out hope that maybe they catch lightning in a bottle Honestly not sure what to expect anymore. Think Rhule really screwed himself with some questionable hires early and late.
From the TE coach who never made it. To Satterfield as a OC. To "the kid" at WR coach. To even the horrible decision to elevate Butler to DC. THAT was the one I felt would do him in when he made it. That was the one for me.
Holla
Six is actually a little impressive. You are loyal, or maybe you just like being treated poorlyI'm probably about a 6 myself. They don't steal talent. There are predictable and protected contracts which players must fulfill. The L.A Angels had Trout and Ohtani at the same time and they **** down their leg, put terrible teams on the field and lost Ohtani to a team across town. The Dodgers are spending a lot of money to win, that is how it should be. Mets are spending a lot of money to lose. The difference between those two franchises is competence. The dodgers have the best player development and best talent identification. They have the most talented mlb roster, and the most stocked farm system by far. They have also been the most creative with contracts within the legal framework of the mlb. They also have one of the best coaches in the sport.Good post, but I'll pick out one thing that you said.
