I am at curious optimism. I’m hoping they found the recipe. Very good coaching can sometimes mask the obvious problems. I will watch every game because that is what I (we) all do. Go Big Red!

I'm probably about a 6 myself. Holding out hope that maybe they catch lightning in a bottle Honestly not sure what to expect anymore. Think Rhule really screwed himself with some questionable hires early and late.
From the TE coach who never made it. To Satterfield as a OC. To "the kid" at WR coach. To even the horrible decision to elevate Butler to DC. THAT was the one I felt would do him in when he made it. That was the one for me.

They are all the same exact team. Teams that don't compete for the playoffs are all the same exact team.
The "I don't watch the games" people are like the "I don't watch ESPN" people.
I’m excited for the season to start to see how the squad gels around a mobile quarterback and an offensive line coached correctly. I definitely have doubts about Rhule’s coaching ability, particularly time management and his decisions regarding going for it or kicking field goals. But I say it here all the time, the kids on the team still believe in Rhule. Until they quit and start transferring in droves, I’ll keep tuning in hoping for the best but expecting to keep losing to anyone with a running game and decent O-line.
I'll watch every single game, like I usually do. But, my expectations are at an all time low.
Wishful thinking. I'm convinced that it is a lot more difficult for Nebraska to win than it used to be. Administration, coaching, tougher schedule.
On top of all of that, a culture of losing surrounded by the fan base from a once great era seems to work against us too. Seems like coaching staffs have either been in a rebuilding phase or win now mode. Neither of which has led to any success.
Part of me thinks we could be in a situation similar to Frank Solich's last year albeit with a much tougher schedule and worse record. Rhule is going to have a better coaching staff and in the near term, after this year, we'll be on the rise as a program. Lessons learned, good recruits coming in....
But ultimately, most fans will want to see Rhule gone and have us start completely over once again. I could get behind that if our admin actually tried something different and hire a guy who will go back to playing Nebraska football even if it means hiring a no name. Of course, that will never happen. Admin and wealthy influencers don't know what "Nebraska football" even is, or they think you cannot win playing that brand of football, and of course they want that "wow hire".
I only watch Nebraska on TV when it comes to college football. Maybe an occasional game that somewhat resembles what college football used to be-- a lesser conference game where the players aren't paid as much or they play a unique style of offense.
I miss the days of old where we were very interested in the outcomes of games nationally because it affected NU's run for a conference or national championship. I knew the team's players back then. Now players change teams more often than the Lincoln Salt Dogs and the Independent League.
Spot on. We've had very few Nebraska football players on our team for many years now. Not enough Ty Robinsons or Emmett Johnsons or even lesser talented kids but guys who loved Husker football. What we have now are hired guns, and these guys can't shoot straight.
As fans, yes but our team has a long way to go before it can say it's an Iowa or Minnesota.

Good post, but I'll pick out one thing that you said. College football is A LOT like MLB in one way. The top teams steal talent from the middle and lower tier. Smaller market teams just develop guys for the Dodgers, Yankees and so on. College football is worse of course since players can just leave whenever they want and as often as the want.
I’m at about a 3. Gave up my season tickets family had had since 1963. I started in 1970 and until the last 2 years I rarely if ever missed a home game. Went to all the nat title games, kickoff classics- lots of away venues etc.

Yes but 1 big thing you’ve omitted, the Dodgers have had one of the best (if not the best) farm systems in the MLB the last 15 years. They develop top level talent AND can sign anyone they want.
I wonder if its like this for everyone that is of a certain age....I am a Cubs fan and could name the starting 9 for the 84 team better than who they have on todays roster. When you are younger small things like that make a bigger imprint.

I see him similar to Bo’s path - live on the money, take a smaller job and then retire young from coaching. I don’t think Rhule has the talent to be a coordinator. Small school who needs a hype man might nab him (Temple style)

They don't try to score TD's first...they try to milk clock first. Same on defense...they don't try for big plays on D, they try to make the other team drive the field and eat clock.
Wish they tried to milk the clock on us last year instead of dropping 44 and looking like an offensive juggernaut.
Yes, quite a few moves that a CEO level coach does not make. I like to evaluate with these things in terms of what an urban Meyer or Nick Saban would do. Some of the stuff was just amateurish. Having a previous relationship with someone is not the end all be all for personnel decisions.

They don't steal talent. There are predictable and protected contracts which players must fulfill. The L.A Angels had Trout and Ohtani at the same time and they **** down their leg, put terrible teams on the field and lost Ohtani to a team across town. The Dodgers are spending a lot of money to win, that is how it should be. Mets are spending a lot of money to lose. The difference between those two franchises is competence. The dodgers have the best player development and best talent identification. They have the most talented mlb roster, and the most stocked farm system by far. They have also been the most creative with contracts within the legal framework of the mlb. They also have one of the best coaches in the sport.
Interest is on life support right now. My main focus has turned to the NFL because at least you know your team will not be completely changing year to year. I can't connect to this team.
