This will the highest price to performance ratio in the history of sports for all eternity. Hard to come up with anything in any major sport that is remotely close.

Semien out 4-6 weeks. Will anyone notice?
Challenge Baty’s manhood/livelyhood
you have 6 weeks to stay a Met and maybe a major leaguer! You are playing every day even if Sandy Koufax is on the mound . We don’t care if you’re O-40 you are starting.
just remember after 6 weeks and you still suck just do us a favor and pack up your 💩 and leave

Mets fans are way too impatient. When a GM or President of Baseball Operations like Stearns has a vision, you let him cook. He needs at least five years to implement his plan and may even need an extension.

What makes you think his subsequent moves will be any better than all of his previous horrible moves? Are you a friend of his or a close relative?

But seriously folks, I think if the season continues to spiral downward with no signs of any improvement under Green, he will be gone. He may have been Cohen’s choice, but one thing that Cohen has shown publicly is that he hates empty seats. Nothing worse than an entire fanbase’s indifference for the rest of the season. Especially a fanbase that is as loyal and passionate as Mets fans.

What I find interesting with the Met's and Chavez sort of confirms it- The real story of any infighting or not getting along was not about Lindor, but the Met's felt more than happy to allow that to be the impression. and they started it last year with the captain stuff and then started to make him to be the bad guy then too.

Not saying you're wrong, but I tend to take the comments of any disgruntled fired employee with a grain of salt.

Mini Poll on mustache- keep or not?

Turned the game on, without having looked at who the starters were, and was wondering who the new pitcher was. . . . .

5.9 million at 8% between 2000-2011
Collect 1.1 million between 2011-2035
Mets signed Hampton with the $$ savings
Mets World Series w/ Hampton in 2000
Hampton leaves for Rockies , Mets get pick 39 as compensation
Mets take David Wright with pick

Happy Bobby Bonilla Day! Any idea what the Mets record is on July 1? Wondering if this is a good or bad holiday. :)

So, Cohen says Stearns is safe. On the other hand- this is a team that was in the NLCS just 2 years ago and Cohen is worried about the organization because of the lack of player development.
Let me see, who is in charge of both?

Cohen came in as a breath of fresh air, quickly becoming the owner from hell.

Some off day notes. Not sure how relevant, but we gotta have some content in this thread other than "Stearns sucks", no?

1) Ryan Clifford has been named to the Futures Game. Nothing about his 2026 performance suggests he deserves it. I don't know if they need a player from each team. Nor do I have any alternate suggestions.

2) MLB Pipeline updated its Top 100 Prospects. The only Met was Jonah Tong at 82. He dropped about 50 spots from last year. Of course we had three graduates in McLean, Benge, and Ewing. Disappointing that no one else has risen to take their places on the list.

3) Remember Mike Tauchman? Many thought he would be a semi-regular until he got hurt in Spring. He was just moved from the Syracuse 7 day IL to the 60 day IL. I doubt we will see him this year.

4) Adbert Alzolay, the former Cub who it was hoped would play a major bullpen role, was released. Never quite got it back after missing all of 2025.

5) Kevin Parada has been demoted back to Binghamton. That can't be good.

6) Polanco and Robert are now rehabbing and both are in the lineup tonight for Syracuse. In case anyone cares.

(1) is yes. Every mlb team has to have a player ! Clifford is hitting below .200. 🤮

Tong and Wenninger have regressed !

Alvarez / Baty and Vientos are stuck in quick sand.

Player Development needs to be upgraded and reevaluated!

If I was Cohen - I’d bring in a savvy baseball executive to oversee Stearns and to assess all aspects of the organization!

Your last suggestion is not happening, ever. Cohen is not demoting Stearns. He would sooner fire him. That isn't happening soon, but could happen after the 2027 season I think, Cohen's recent comments notwithstanding.

The more likely scenario is that Cohen forces Stearns to hire a GM to handle the day-to-day operations of the team. IIRC, that was the plan from the beginning. Why it hasn't happened, I cannot say. I also cannot say whether that would make any real difference.

Today is perhaps a watershed day for the Mets. For the first time in his career, AJ Ewing is hitting leadoff. First time of many over the upcoming decade.

Notwithstanding what Cohen said - the front office needs to be evaluated and revamped !

Cohen knows this and some significant change (s) will occur which may indeed be what you suggested above - a hire of a GM - which would be music to my ears !

The current front office has failed in every way shape and form !

Mets stink / farm system is awful / player evaluation is horrid and player development is awful.

Whirlwind changes / additions throughout the front office and coaching staffs at all levels needs to occur !

Crazy to think, just 2 years ago- the Met's in the NLCS, the farm system had climbed up into one of the top farm systems in all of baseball.

Now, we have the worst team in MLB over the past year and we do not have a viable prospect to send to the futures game.

Now that all of the coaches are gone, most of the players are gone, who goes next, the assistant to the parking attendant?

If we were to stop the clock right now - Ash>>>Stearns And Cohen is going to let this man have another trade deadline disaster?

This team is an absolute joke. Bad News Bears brought to you by Stearns.
For the benefit of those who are not watching tonight's tragi-comedy...

Mets down 2-0, Braves have bases loaded with two out. Batter hits an easy fly to short center. Taylor the CF is calling for it all the way. Lindor either doesn't hear or ignores him. At the last minute, Lindor goes to ground right in front of Taylor. Instead of making an easy catch in stride, Taylor now has to pull up and stretch for the ball. Which he fails to do. Three runs score.

That's a ball Lindor gets to every time. Taylor was gliding to the ball all the way. He tried to drift into the catch. Fundies are lacking all-around on this team.
