Sooners were #11 seed in SEC tourney. Guess it's about getting hot at the right time.
Fresno State 2008.Sooners were #11 seed in SEC tourney. Guess it's about getting hot at the right time.
Your 2nd point was the big key in this run.IMO, a championship team has the following qualities:
- Excellent Talent - whcih stays healthy all season
- Excellent team chemistry
- Excellent management which knows when to push the right buttons
That is the was it was for us in 2010. Even won out of losers bracket.Sooners were #11 seed in SEC tourney. Guess it's about getting hot at the right time.
Agreed, that is what the JBJ, Wingo, Roth, etc etc etc had.... that and a NEVER QUIT Attitude!!Your 2nd point was the big key in this run.
We have not had those type players on our roster in years.Agreed, that is what the JBJ, Wingo, Roth, etc etc etc had.... that and a NEVER QUIT Attitude!!
So, you remember when UNC fans would throw dead chickens on the basketball court and hurl insults at little Frankie? Some things are hard to forget . . . they actually define a fan base for years to come.I've never been happier for a team to win that wasn't us. That Tar Heel @$$ can't get beat bad enough or often enough to suit me.
Parenthetically, this mindset is particularly prevalent in those of us who came through the ACC era. I wish the younger generations could understand. We'll never have the same level of vitriol where we are now, and it's a genuine detraction as far as I'm concerned.
I was happy when Coastal won it, but not to this extent.
I loved the MUTUAL hatred, especially regarding Duke, UNC, N.C.State, Maryland, and of course UPC. It will never be duplicated. So, you remember when UNC fans would throw dead chickens on the basketball court and hurl insults at little Frankie? The boys that pitched the last two evenings for UNC is from your neck of the woods.I loved the MUTUAL hatred, especially regarding Duke, UNC, N.C.State, Maryland, and of course UPC. It will never be duplicated.

The 1st part of the graphic was cut off on the screen shot. It showed FSU with, I believe, 24.I thought FSU had been 19 times and never won.
From Andrew Jackson in Kershaw. I know the guy who coached that team. I have to be a little careful to not be too openly happy, but I'm happy. The boys that pitched the last two evenings for UNC is from your neck of the woods.
Same here. My daughter cheered for AJ. Was at every sporting event back 5/6 years ago!!From Andrew Jackson in Kershaw. I know the guy who coached that team. I have to be a little careful to not be too openly happy, but I'm happy.
I thought it was Clemron fans who did this. Frank Sr. could take the insults to himself, but to Jr. was crossing the line. So, you remember when UNC fans would throw dead chickens on the basketball court and hurl insults at little Frankie? I wouldn’t put anything past Clemmy. However, my recollection was Tobacco Road hated McGuire and South Carolina to the extreme.I thought it was Clemron fans who did this. Frank Sr. could take the insults to himself, but to Jr. was crossing the line.
Psychotically - Weaver and Cameron would have put out a hit on McGuire if they knew they could get away with it.I wouldn’t put anything past Clemmy. However, my recollection was Tobacco Road hated McQuire and South Carolina to the extreme.
They did put out a hit when they ruled Grosso ineligible.Psychotically - Weaver and Cameron would have put out a hit on McGuire if they knew they could get away with it.
I see some of it in College Baseball.Good sportsmanship and respect for your opponent died a long time ago.
Ageed, The opposing team stays around to watch the winners celebrate in CWS..I see some of it in College Baseball.
And occasionally, there is handshaking at the conculsion of games. We see it in WBB.Ageed, The opposing team stays around to watch the winners celebrate in CWS..
Metaphorically; I'm talking literally. It killed them for McGuire to come back into the league and build a power that threatened the Big Four. They did put out a hit when they ruled Grosso ineligible.
Yet there was no animosity against Maryland, who was competitive in hoops fior the first few years of the ACC's existence. Eddie Cameron and Frank McGuire were not friends.Metaphorically; I'm talking literally. It killed them for McGuire to come back into the league and build a power that threatened the Big Four.
McGuire was the lighning rod who galvanized the league.Yet there was no animosity against Maryland, who was competitive in hoops fior the first few years of the ACC's existence. Eddie Cameron and Frank McGuire were not friends.
How would you describe Everett Case?McGuire was the lighning rod who galvanized the league.
Sort of a trailblazer in ACC basketball and not the lightning rod McGuire was.How would you describe Everett Case?
Fair enough.Sort of a trailblazer in ACC basketball and not the lightning rod McGuire was.
