I thought the players would adjust to a tighter whistle. So far they have not it seems.

Part of me thinks maybe the league needs to go to a 5 foul limit. But when the opponent can run straight into Caitlin and saddle her with 3 ridiculous fouls then that's no bueno either.

This league as a welfare case has always done whatever the frick it wants and that ain't a changin' anytime soon.
Just for the heck of it, I pulled up a box score from when Minny played the Celtics this past season. Two decent defensive teams I believe, and there were a grand total of 29 PF's called. W officials are a joke.

So they’re calling 53 fouls in a game but just not for CC? Do you guys realize how ridiculous this all sounds? She shot 12 free throws last night. And don’t tell me she should shoot 20. We’re all huge CC fans here but the objectivity is totally gone from some of you. Everything is everyone else’s fault.
I'll be that guy :).

Caitlin should have shot close to twenty free throws.

I don't think it's uncommon for other big name players to shoot that many. Didn't Stewart shoot 19 free throws against Indiana this year? Toward the end of the game she earned one when she leaned into Caitlin’s hip and drove on her and Caitlin gets the CHEAP foul.

Bad calls happen and occasionally one breaks Caitlin's way, but it's way out of balance the other way.

For the people who think of us as whiners answer me this: do you not think the three fouls called against Caitlin while defending Howard and Canada were absolutel bullcrap? Especially the two drawn by the weak-kneed Canada? The Howard foul was b.s. too but the league does get wet for stuff like that 🤷‍♂️.

I believe Stewie shot 21 free throws and made 19 in that game.....

They always admit they grab her in the press conferences. They just do it until they can’t get away with it. They are getting away with it, so they do it. It really is that simple. Not difficult stuff.

OT: I believe that Kate will have one more game to play with LA, coming up on Sunday, before they decide to keep or waive her. Hope she stays. The Sparks have just waived a forward to bring in another point guard.

Not a good comparison. The Celtics shoot 40-45 3’s a game. You don’t draw a lot of fouls when you’re shooting a ton of 3’s. Look, the refs are certainly not great in the W. And there’s been an edict obviously to try and make the game less physical but the players are not adjusting. Again, CC shot 12 free throws so it’s not like she’s not getting any calls. Did you watch the NBA finals? Basically there were 3-4 fouls on every possession I swear. Nothing was easy. But both teams played through it.

Totally different with fouls in the finals. Refs let them play and go at it. The problem that I have is that the officiating in the W is inconsistent and questionable a lot of times. For example, why do Aja and Stewart get the lion's share of the calls? Oh, and by the way- Not a good comparison you say? Here's the game I randomly selected to get the foul numbers. Now, you tell me who shot the most threes.

One team shot 15 and the other 18. So hardly any either way. And both teams took 33 3’s.

This is about CC and Fever. Fever are 2/3 games over .500 but something just doesn’t “look right”. Rebounding and turnovers are a team issue. CC has every team taking her 1 on1 as much as possible. She gets help initially but the “secondary help “ isn’t there most of the time. With all the motion offenses have these days CC does not move a lot when she one or two passes away. She is getting a lot of assists which is obviously good, but things just are not clicking. Boston, Cunningham and Mitchell have played well overall but as a team they haven’t come together. Still plenty of time. CC is a competitor but her body language is not the best, from my perspective. I don’t think it’s coaching, but some of you will disagree. Not sure if there are locker room issues etc. I just think that they are hard to watch at times and hope things get straightened out soon.

What I find amusing is that they went on and on last night about what a great defensive player Rhyne Howard is and even after the game they couldn’t stop drooling over her defensive game, yet Clark hung 26 on her in three quarters….but when someone on the other team scores 10 or 12 against Clark we hear how bad she is. I said it before and I’ll say it again, the women’s game is different.

On the topic of officiating. The video reviews, no matter how clear cut, take 3 minutes. What the fuuk are they doing? And, after the decision it takes another minute (at least) to notify the scorer and then the coaches. And finally, the ref graps a mike to give the fans a pompous detailed explanation of the decision.

Catherine Engelbert is a moron.

They'll say it's because of the hype and expectations being different.

CC is suppose to drop 30 every game and not make it look difficult (i.e be efficient).

Yep - Caitlin dribbled the ball off Howards foot and the TV announcers had an orgasm praising Howard for her brilliant defensive play.

Its infuriating. Most (almost all) of the reviews are not game changing calls and the few that are, or could be, shoul be decided within a much shorter timeframe. 3 minute reviews are ridiculously long (and they sometimes still get it wrong!).
