Not something that happens too often. Bu ref tests always seem to include a question about this, and what the proper restart is.

The first World Cup that I remember watching was in 1982 when my Azzurri won. I have to say that so far, this World Cup has been the best that I've seen, not only because it seems as if most of the teams actually are going for it, but the crowds have been great, which I think have made the players go for it. Also, almost every one of the so-called minnows have acquitted themselves very well. Finally, the fact that most of this World Cup is being played in the good ole USA also has made a difference with the crowds.

I saw some games in 1978 but it was hard as not much was televised, so 1982 was it for me as well.

And I would agree - excellent start to the tournament. Only 1 stinker so far - Ghana-Panama. The new rules about simulation have helped a lot too - so much less injury fakery and shithousery.

A big boost has been the enthusiastic crowds and the stars playing well. Exciting knock out stage games and a good final will tell the tale. 1994 was pretty good but the final was so terrible it dragged the overall vibe down.

They both really needed a win in this one. Unless one of them pulls an upset over Mexico or South Korea, Group A will only get two teams through.

Yeah. I feel for Czechia, as I think they're good enough that they should have advanced.

RSA probably could have advanced out of some groups.

But with a tie in the game, and Mexico and South Korea being in the same group, it does seem unlikely that either Czechia or RSA will be playing pas the group stage.

As an Azzurri fan, the 94 Final was disappointing to me. I think that the fact that that game was played in the middle of the day in the blazing sun at the Rose Bowl had a lot to do with the quality of that game.

Also in 1978 there wasn't HD TV let alone 4k.

Switzerland putting it away, 2-0 at 86’. Bosnia playing with 10 since ~80’. A pretty goal, nicely done.

So I'm not feeling as bad about having to miss the game.
It was pretty bad once it went 11v9…looked more like 11v7.

I thought Canada refusing to shake hands after the game was a poor display. It was a bad red…but dude was distraught and obviously not intentional.

The match momentum chart that they’ve been using was pretty funny…

Montreal Hockey Now needs to upgrade their Space Invaders quality graphics.

I didn’t realize until last night that FIFA changed the first tiebreaker and it’s now head to head instead of goal differential. Hate the change.
