Seems like KSR would ask about JMI and the claims they’ve made. It would be helpful to have them ask questions about the concerns they’ve…raised.

Yeah Tyler Thompson was there and it got really gnarly. They had to be separated by security.Seems like it was mostly news stations. It would be helpful to have them ask questions about the concerns they’ve…raised.
So many to choose from!I predict this whole JMI thing is going to end up being one of the biggest non-issue "issues" we've ever harped about on this forum.
I believe this is a reasonable prediction. The JMI triggered posters have filled a huge space here without much knowledge or understanding, and in spite of a lot of evidence to dispute their conclusions and yet they are often the loudest on this board. I admit I do not know but have seen no evidence to support the village JMI pitchforks and riots here.I predict this whole JMI thing is going to end up being one of the biggest non-issue "issues" we've ever harped about on this forum.

All.kinds of evidence, but you don't know.I believe this is a reasonable prediction. Why not both?If JMI wasn't an issue then you would have to conclude Pope did a terrible job with High School recruiting.
Well, he did do a terrible job when he put all his chips in on a narcissistic headcase and let other prospects we were in good standing with slip away. You just have to hope he's learned his lesson... and he's off to a good start to the 2027 class with Hampton. If JMI wasn't an issue then you would have to conclude Pope did a terrible job with High School recruiting.
Sure. And what does the conspiracy believer post? ^^^What do you expect him to say?
“yeah, this deal my predecessor signed that we are stuck with for the next 15 years is horrible and is going to completely undermine our ability to compete for championships, but it’s ok because me and a select few other people are going to profit greatly from it” ?
MehI do not like that he would not call Kentucky a basketball school.
Let me get this straight. Some of you people act like you've never spent five minutes in the real world...
Of course, he is going to take a fact imposed on him like the JMI deal and make it work for him. And no doubt he knew all the aspects of that - including the limitations -- when he took the job.
A first step along that road to transforming the JMI relationship is not to say in a press conference, "This JMI deal is terrible, we're not going to be able to be competitive, maybe I made a big mistake taking this job." Instead, the first step is to praise JMI and talk about what has been done, and what can be done in the future.
Then, in private negotiations with JMI, you say, "I'm running this show now. There is a place for you to be part of it. But here are the new rules. And don't tell me about your 'forever' contract, because that's only as good as the public perception of JMI. And I'll ruin you with BBN if I have to."
So how is it a negative, for what reasons exactly? Again, vague accusations with nothing to back it up.Jmi still is a negative but not for the reasons Jones and others pushed. Trademark enforcement is across the board at every institution. The way you know the deal was not above board is the 15 year term. Just insane.
I listened now to several of his speeches. Hes always talking revenue, which is good. However reading between the lines he seems always focused on ways to get more money out of fans. "Prolonging the game day experience", the Kroger field entertainment district, etc all sound like a fan tax.
Focus in the big donors. Then cut costs (plenty to do here). Then come back to me. If we're still really short, we'll talk

Was Alabama’s 15 year media rights deal not above either since 15 years is the criteria? You should contact the attorney general and tell him how the JMI deal with UK was not above board because it was 15 years.
It was only an issue because of Matt jones.I predict this whole JMI thing is going to end up being one of the biggest non-issue "issues" we've ever harped about on this forum.

Every accusation is vague because they were told what to think and have actual evidence of their claims. You can’t be specific when you’re just repeating Dear Leader’s talking points. They sound like those goofy sovereign citizens trying to defend themselves with nonsense legal theories. So it’s a negative because it’s “another layer” and they’ve been “inflexible”? This is the best these brainwashed frauds can come up with… just more vague accusations. Its a negative because its another layer and so far they have been inflexible. Meanwhile other schools have third party deals that bend over backwards to get kids, ie ku letting stokes wear different shoes.
The negative does not include the trademark and ip stuff. Every school and pro franchise has that. That was always Jones wanting to make money off the T-shirts he sold.
Well the big question is when will the fan be tapped out. Or even better, when will the fan just say "no thanks I'll watch it at home". I like to think I do okay financially, but last year I paid ~$200 a ticket (and I had two) for each home game. They weren't that good of seats. I looked at it over the offseason and said, "would I like to fly me and my wife to Hawaii and watch UK games on TV, or would I like to go to the games?" Pretty easy answer.

Just a FYI, third party deals come from third parties, not the school. Saying other schools have third party deals that bend over backward to get kids makes zero sense and proves that you don’t have a basic understanding of how any of this works.
No matter how many times you all lie about third party deals being limited at UK, they are absolutely not. That radio guy is apparently so important to all of you that he has you telling the world that athletes at UK either can’t do third party NIL deals, that they’re limited, or that they have restrictions. Imagine disparaging your own school with outright lies.
I’m not sure where you’re getting your information on Stokes, but he will absolutely be wearing an Adidas Kansas uniform and Adidas shoes. The lengths some of you go to in order to prop up other schools to enhance your tearing down of UK is embarrassing.
Maybe he thinks being handcuffed to this awful JMI deal is worth being the second highest paid AD in the country? People take a lot of risks and do some crazy things for money.Let me get this straight.
In your real world, an up and coming athletic director gets a job at Michigan State, one of the better athletic programs in the country, helps secure a $401 million donation for athletics, and then decides to leave for Kentucky.
Not just any Kentucky either. According to some of you, it’s a Kentucky athletic department trapped in a “program killing” JMI deal, loaded with NIL restrictions that supposedly handcuff the program for the next 15 years.
So this ambitious AD looks at all of that and says, “Yep, that’s where I want to stake my career.”
Then he arrives in Lexington, publicly praises JMI, praises the partnership, and privately tells them:
“I’m running the show now. There is a place for you in it, but here are the new rules. And don’t tell me about your contract because I’ll just use public pressure and BBN to force you into submission.”
Is that seriously how you think the real world works?
Maybe to be the second highest paid AD in the country? If the JMI deal is truly the disaster you claim it is, why would a rising athletic director leave a good situation at Michigan State to take the Kentucky job? If Kentucky is supposedly “dead” for the next 15 years, why would he voluntarily tie his career and reputation to that situation?
The answer is obvious… because the reality doesn’t match the narrative.
Here’s the part that always makes me laugh. Ask these people what the actual restrictions are.
Not the rumors. Not the vague talking points. Not the way I heard it.
The actual restrictions.
What specifically can’t Kentucky do that other schools can do?
What specific language in the agreement is preventing UK from competing?
What NIL opportunity is being blocked?
What recruiting advantage is being lost?
What exact contract provision would they change?
How would they restructure the deal without violating a legally binding agreement?
Spoiler alert: not a single one of them can answer those questions and you will be called a JMI shill/employee for asking.
That’s why every accusation is vague. That’s why every criticism is based on buzzwords like “handcuffed,” “restrictions,” and “the JMI stuff” instead of actual facts. The moment you ask for specifics, the conversation ends. If these restrictions are so obvious and so damaging, it should be easy to identify them. Yet nobody can.
The reality is that the people screaming the loudest about JMI can’t explain what the restrictions are, can’t explain how UK is supposedly handcuffed, and can’t explain what they would actually do differently. That’s because they don’t have an argument. They have a narrative, and every time they’re asked for details, that narrative falls apart.
*I know you’re not reading all that, reading hurts you.
Clown take, Beatle BumBecause with the JMI deal we cannot land any recruits. People will understand the JMI conspiracy when UK puts a bunch of walkons on the floor next year. Stein and Pope can’t land recruits. The proof is in the JMI pudding. ADs don’t mind failing when they get huge paychecks to fail. Strein and Pope can’t be believed when they say JMI is not hurting the UK brand or recruiting. Once you drink the Koolaid you will understand why all the evidence that seems to defy the JMI conspiracy cannot be believed.
Interesting that I posted something to this effect and got absolutely crushed.Yep and i think we're very close to being tapped out now. That's why I'm concerned about most of what he says, so far, seems focused on milking fans.
When he says "extending the gameday experience" he's really saying how can we keep fans spending more money for longer. Of course that tied right into the entertainment district that's designed to replace tailgating, for the same fan milking reason.
Oh don't worry, there will still be tailgating as long as you are willing to pay Revel 5k+ per tent.
When hired, the talk of "fundraising" had me excited. I assumed that meant, as it should, that he was better at developing donor relationships. Instead sounds like he's just better at big box storing fans.
The JMI conspiracy is the clown take, Dougan.Clown take, Beatle Bum
Or maybe this guy told y’all the truth months and months ago.Evidently our new AD and coaches must lie to us because they have the JMI gun to their heads. This board is where you will find the truth.
