I've already answered that and to reiterate, unequivocally give me sucking in the Bg 12 over sucking in the B1G. For the retained rivalries, better road games and socially like-minded opponents alone. Never mind the potential for actually having a little more success.

I have zero doubt that I would have had more fun as a fan the last 15 years in the Big 12 than I have in the B1G, all other things being equal. And I think anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
Retained rivalries: CO, Kstate? More fun being the middle of the pack of JV conference?

Yeah. It’s been posted many times how much fun that ‘24 sCUm game was compared to literally every B1G game we’ve ever had. Why do you think that was? It’s because it is a real rivalry. Not some made up, contrived, bullsh*t thing that they’ve been shoving down our throats for 15 years hoping we all buy it. And by the way OU was still in the Big 12 when we threw our sucker in the dirt and left too. Win or lose, annual or not, that game was always more fun than what we have now. Show me an example of a game where I’m wrong?

I enjoy the annual banter of the Iowa game. I live in Iowa so it’s my Colorado game every year.

Some post here I believe.

Clearly. Or they’re just sheep who keep hoping that B1G check cashing party actually pays off someday.

I mean, if we were 2 years into this little charade, I could understand the skepticism. It’s been 15 years.

But everyone knows what 20 plus years from now will look like. And we’re sitting really pretty! Isn’t that right @sklarbodds?

Neat.

I found the last 2 sCUm games infinitely more fun than those contrived Iowa pretend rivalries.

Hell I’m not even sure most Iowa fans would consider us their main rival. That’s probably Iowa State for them. Let that sink in

I was at Colorado game when we got the dub. It was absolutely awesome. I’m confident IA would be similar if we could avoid fumbling the games away most years. Or at least it would be for me 😁. I could finally peacock a bit in the office.

Hahaha, well maybe for you. I get that. For the fanbase in general though, no way. It wasn’t even close in ‘22 when we actually beat them. Let alone in your hypothetical future scenario. I mean neither was that long ago. We have real actual experiences to go by. We F*CKING HATE the puffs. Iowa is just annoying.

I support this.

Since leaving the Big 12, we’ve seen a major drop-off in recruiting across Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and St. Louis, and we have yet to gain any real traction in states like Ohio and Michigan.

Only an idiot would think it’s not a massive advantage to tell recruits they'll be playing close to home once or twice a year. While we might still land a few kids from those regions, we aren't pulling them in like we used to.
I am not sure what makes this a difficult idea for people to see. Bo Pelini coached Nebraska for 5 Big 10 seasons. He was 22-10 and played in one conference title game and finished 2nd in 2 other seasons. He had winning conference records in each of his 5 Big 10 season. We have had exactly 1 since that time when Riley went 6-3.

In the Big 12 Pelini won 70% of his league games. In the Big 10 he won 69% of his league games. It wasn't the league that caused the decline. If you are going to fire a guy who wins 70% of their league games, you have to replace him with someone that is going to meet and exceed that level of winning. Instead, they hired a Barry Alvarez disciple who was in over his head, requiring coaches to read books like the Energy Bus etc.. Then when nobody wanted the job, similarly to when Petersen fired Solich, you get stuck with an outsider that no one else was going to hire.

The recruiting drop-off was, at least initially, more than likely due to losing and hiring coaches that had no experience in the midwest. Then when the team started to rapidly decline, the recruiting suffered because the team wasn't good.

Rhule's staff recruits Missouri and Texas pretty well. There are 18 players from Texas (11) and Missouri (7) on the current roster. These numbers reflect a asserted effort to get to Texas and Missouri and get players. Those numbers are more in line with what Nebraska recruited in the Big 12 from around 2000 to 2011.

I don't think the issue was ever getting players from those states, it was more of a situation where they just stopped recruiting those areas, Riley recruited California and out west because that is where he and his staff was most familiar, Frost concentrated his efforts in Florida and the southeast. Players would still come to Nebraska from other parts of the country, so I don't buy the "seeing their kids play" argument.

Lastly with NIL, a number of those deals include travel expenses for parents to see a game or two each season. Which would make it even less of a factor.

Bowl games, even lower level ones, are the norm at Iowa.

In Lincoln, since Solich left, Detroit and NYC are the ceiling, and not taken for granted.

Ask your grandpa what it was like when Nebraska was a respectable program.
I love this! The "norm" for you little guys is a lame bowl game for winning 6 games. Conrgats!

Do you put iowa in the "little guy" status or top tier?

SOOOOO true!

So many "integrity" warriors were all about this and didn't realize how insane they sounded.

The Big Ten (in FB) is OSU, Oregon and now INDIANA (think about that for second)

The rest of the teams are all just a lame version of NU right now.

Callahan, Pelini, Cotton, Riley, Frost, Joseph, Ruhle...that's just the list since 2016!

Impressive collection of dogcrap.
Callahan, Pelini and Cotton were all prior to 2016. Hell Riley was fired in 2017, but I guess technically he would count since 2016. Regardless it has been 4 coaches, 3 perm and 1 interim and one of the permanent is the current coach.

Scott Frost returned to the Big 12 and immediately replicated his best Nebraska record, with considerably less talent.
He was 2-7 in the Big 12, finishing in 13th place with wins over Jacksonville St., North Carolina A&T, North Carolina (4-8), West Virginia (4-8) and Oklahoma St (1-11). Not everything can be viewed in a vacuum.

How old are you? Callahan started coaching in the 2004 season. Pelini from 2008 through 2014. Riley from 2015 through 2017. Some might argue all the way back to 2002 was crap, save for 2003. At least Pelini got us wins. Outside of that (except for a year under Riley and 2 under Callahan) it has been dogcrap (as you say).

I noticed you couldn't disprove my post.

Good luck this season to the Huskers and that elusive 9 win season!
lol! Here is the yellow shitbird again talking about 9 wins! Does he realize we play 12 games ? When you golf do you only play 9 holes and call it a day? Without looking it up I wonder how many 9 win seasons you would have if you played the same schedule we have since we joined the conference ? Sure seems like we got Ohio state and Michigan way more than you did

I coach with an iowa fan and he is a great guy. Each season the FIRST thing he says is "Since we don't have OSU or Michigan (and now Oregon and Indiana) we can probably get to 8 wins and we are happy about that"

It is sooooooo lame.

You need pay attention then. You spend your time pretending to be Barney Fife on this board.

Come shoot at me if you can find your bullet. I have never had tickets to any NU sport, never donated either. Keep up, I am a closet Iowegian living in Alaska.

We are same age, witnessed same wonder.

Come shoot me Barney, if you can find your bullet.

I did go to the Coliseum regular with a buddy's tickets. We were 14 with UNL student tickets, but they let us in! Watched Jerry Fort in several games. Then he got good and the tickets disappeared 😂

it's doesn't really matter anymore, because the game has changed, and so has Nebraska..

it's going to be a great year for this team, in spite of Rhule and other coaches.. it should turn out to be a magical year, and it will be certain players that make it all happen.

But some of the clowns on here are going to celebrate Rhule and give him a lot of credit for it.. and then his contract will get extended for 10 years at an even more grotesque figure, and Matt the hat is going to be b.s. ing his way back to the bottom of the big ten.

Where I get fired up:
— competent Oline coach. If he can make an ekeler like impact there are so many tentacles to the Oline being good.

—mobile qb … extend plays with feet and hopefully create a lot of opportunities for x plays.

— I think our LB’s can be a strength in Aurich defense. Hopefully he can stop the run.

—Faith/Hope that our Dline can progress and add weight /strength and be competent both in stature and scheme.

Oline and mobile QB if improved could give us a chance in games we have no business being in.

If Rhule can make it to 8 wins I will happily shut up with the criticism.

Problem is, 5 wins seems more likely

As fans of the Huskers we should only be looking at two options for this season...

1. Making the playoffs
2. Not making the playoffs

If NU doesn't make the playoffs, Rhule needs to be gone and that is okay. That is fine.

But the only two scenarios that will get this fan base "excited" are either making the playoffs or a coaching search. That is it.
