My old man kept a pool in our backyard algae free for 20 years. Why not dump some shock treatment in the pool? It's not like anyone but Jenny Gump is allowed to get into the pool so no amount of shock treatment is going to matter.

That's gonna take a lot of shock treatment. My pool is roughly 10k gallons & during the summer requires 3 to 5 gallons per week, as well as sweeping/brushing it once a week. The reflecting pool was originally ~6.75m gallons; after the work done in 2010-2012, it's not quite as deep so the volume went down, but it's still probably 6.7 million. So you'd probably need 4000 gallons of shock a week (probably more, because the water temp would get warmer than mine, and you'll have birds crapping in the reflecting pool.

And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning.
These are probably the geniuses working facilities maintenance that were pulled off their normal duties to go dump as much HP they had in stock into the pool.

The new paint created a bunch of issues, it sealed the bottom, it is darker, thereby raising the temps, and to clean it and keep it clean is going to require a filtration system with drains and circulation. Drains and circulation will eliminate the reflections.
This debacle is what happens when one megalomaniac decides to do something without consulting experts, and when nobody has the balls to tell him it's a dumb idea.
As someone else said, this is the Trump admin in a nutshell, not a terrible idea,but an absolute amateur hour executions.
