Still say the offsides is a bad rule. That second goal was taken away because our guy was a foot up field 30 yards from the goal 4 passes before the actual goal. It was intended to prevent goal hanging to help stop an advantage. If two passes happen that "advantage" has been nullified.

Maybe if that guy scores or assists the offsides can stand.

It’s been tried without it. It’s not the same game at all. Bird dogging rules then.

Tru-er words have NEVER been spoken. I’d rather watch The Ocho; sorry to the soccer and hockey folks.
Hockey does not translate to TV as well as other sports. I like to watch it on TV, but in person it is something else entirely. Go to an NHL game if you have never been. It’s amazing. It’s so damn FAST. The hits are like trucks running into each other.

Didn't realize they could reverse yellow cards based off reviews now. As long as the reviews are quick like that one that's definitely a plus to reduce diving
That new. Never seen that before. The right call was made. And review being able to give yellow for a dive might curtail that some. It’s easy to fool the referee in real time. Much harder to fool var.

Hockey and soccer are different in person. Wildly fun when the crowd is into it. Went to a Boca Juniors v some Mexican squad in Houston. It was high energy crowd the entire game. Great fun.

Has it been tried more like hockey with their blue line? Has it been tried like I suggested that 2 passes nullifies it?

That play the USA player was not trying to get an advantage the defender moved upfield to cause our guy to be behind him. I just don't like it.

Imagine changing it to 3 balls for a walk. Now imagine changing an integral rule in a sport that is a million times more popular worldwide. Not gonna happen.

Offsides is one of the fundamental rules of the game. Change it and it’s not the same game. The entire world likes it the way it is, except for a few here.

I’ll have to find the video on YouTube but they played a match with no offside rules or at least modified rules. It was awful.

Of course the defender moved upfield. It’s called the offside trap. It’s a fundamental play of the game. Its like stealing a base or a pick off move.

It's not. Those two are positive plays. Someone is trying to make a play. NOT playing defense is taking advantage of a rule. It's more like guys that leans into an inside pitch, which I also hate.

It IS playing defense. It’s an absolutely fundamental part of playing defense in soccer. It is a basic law of the game.

I don’t understand why people will comment in a thread about a sport simply to say how much they dislike the sport. Happens in every single NBA thread too. If you don’t like the sport, the thread is not for you. There’s no reason to comment about how much you don’t like the sport that is being talked about in the thread.
Freedom of speech!
With the amount of negative comments on this board, no one should be surprised. I like to submit my portion of the negative vibes just to feel like part of the team!
NBA, WNBA, and hockey sucks too!
