I figured it was older coal plants shutting down, and other forms growing. Interesting to see how it changes over time. There are a few older shut down plants that are being retro fitted to be brought back online and there’s been quite a bit of investment in newer and smaller nuclear plants across the country.
I drove by there this week. It looks like the whole parking lot was either dug up and piled up or they're using it for dirt and crushed asphalt/concrete storage. As a nod to CatVet, when I was going by there were several police cars with their lights on surrounding a group of peopleThe Metro Center in West Jackson would be a prime location. Not only the parking lot but the roof. It's just there empty.
Randy Travis bought it and I believe is going to use for distribution for his foundation. Hopefully what you were seeing were the renovation efforts?I drove by there this week. Looks like I just came across my one cool new factoid for the day!I listened to a book about Rudolph Diesel (very good), a lot of folks were real mad about that new technology when it came out.
It wasn't that nuclear overtook it. It just declined slower than coal. I find it quite distressing that nuclear has not just failed to grow, it has declined over the past decade. We should be investing in nuclear like crazy.I must have been living under a rock, because I had no clue that nuclear had overtaken coal for essentially the past 5 years.

It’s about time someone took the reactor technology from subs and carriers and put it to civilian use.![]()

I have a friend who has worked there since before it opened and he has had no ill side effects. He says that the third eye he grew in the back of his head has been very useful.Technology has improved. You certainly don't see people scared of the nuclear power at Grand Gulf. That thing has been in operation for years and years. My deceased uncle was a plumber at Grand Gulf and that wasn't yesterday either.
