Are you saying the Pope family shouldn't go on vacation, or have any fun until we make a Final Four? Or are you saying they should do it in private so you can pretend they're all miserable?
I think theres a difference between having fun and taking subtle shots at players leaving the program saying things like "he didnt love it here anyways". And again, im OK with the latter, but you better walk that walk when the time comes.
In a way, it's the coaches kids talking smack. I dont think its the best look for him or the program and that stuff can bite you in the *** if those players ever find themselves playing us I the future. We used to say as much when opponents would down play our talents. You put it up in the locker room.
Not a huge deal, but still another thing I just find "odd" about this Pope era.
I’m vocal about my feelings on Pope as the head coach, but this is a nothing burger. I actually thought it was kind of funny
I had a big thing for Dr. Erin for a while, not gonna lie. We’re about the same age.
There’s no doubt what they talk about in the pope household. And it’s evident that Mark has never had a talk with his family about keeping things under wraps.. and I’ve read everything all the arguments Twitter here Facebook, Matt Jones. And it boils down to this. Jasper Johnson is a legacy recruit. His dad Dennis was a stud football player and put far more into the University of Kentucky as a player than pope ever did.. the guy from Danville, his family or Basketball guys he’s connected in Lexington to everyone. It was absolutely poor taste, and not only poor taste, but it was a dirty shot taken out of Kentuckian in a legit Kentuckian but girls from Utah. Girls happen to be the coaches, daughter.
Another perspective. Jasper could very well want to come back say his senior year and we could need his services. I mean, I’ll be honest we could we need them now we need a Back Up shooting guard for next year.. but none of it mattered. Pope just ran him off and we know that because his daughters went and mocked him and made it public. Here we are Chandler left pope whiffed on a lot of guys.? and his daughters burn a bridge with Lexington guy. It seemed like it’s 2/3. They didn’t like Jasper 2/3 of the fans in 1/3 or offended by what his daughters did it’s because they know that it’s gonna reverberate all throughout the Bluegrass. JJ’s uncle for instance I mean he would talk a lot. I promise you now he’s not gonna hold back. He may not tweet it, but it’s gonna be talked about. They already felt like you got a bad shake with Pope.
I remember with cal hopefully as the coach a player left or would leave and we will still consider them UK player even the ones that transfer. The fact that Pope‘s daughters made a video mocking these players that left is unprofessional as hell. It’s all part of the same brainwash. I mean, they can do that stuff all they want in private and our fan base has to wake up because we’ve had a hard time this guy’s had a hard time bringing in players. OK he got a guy today but that’s after three years and countless recruits. But my opinion that is overshadowed by the immaturity, his daughters showed in taking shots at guys when left. What they did is like the PG version of what’s posted here daily. It’s like the Hallmark Channel of Rupp’s Rafters.
I have no problem with it. I thought "KY till I quack" was pretty funny.
It tells me that they don't give an ish what the nastiest part of our fanbase thinks, and that's a GREAT thing that they are having fun at their young age.

Why not just be happy with the good stuff happening lately? I swear people love being miserable.
Jasper could have been a hero when Lowe went down....but he wasn't ready for primetime... may never be
Jasper and his crazy Unc have bigger things to worry about. It wasn't even that bad. He better be focused on putting in work in the gym. He won't see the court at Oregon either unless he makes serious gains.
You just wasted a few minutes of your time here. YOU can’t get that back. That issue is really NO issue at all. I couldn’t care less about Jasper Johnson after what his family said. I’m no Pope fan but I still say GBB.
I just wish this sort of thing wasn't put out on the internet. The act itself is fine, its harmless in nature. But all the players that left have surely seen it by now. And isnt there a thread below about ISU fans trashing MOM on his way out?
Idk, I prefer my teams to be the ones USING locker room bulletin board material, not creating it for opponents. I know im in the minority here, but id say the same thing if Scheyers kids did this (and I think others would feel the same here).

I absolutely LOVED it. First thing out of that Pope household I’ve enjoyed in a long time. I thought the entire season that Jasper, Lowe and possibly Mo were the chemistry killers and everything I’ve heard or seen since has done nothing to change my mind. If they don’t like it, tough ****!

Also there’s absolutely zero scenario that I would ever want Jasper back at UK anyway. I wasn’t big on him even before the season and after seeing him against college players I sure as hell don’t care for him. He’s weak as hell and a horrific defender. Can’t handle even the slightest ball pressure to save his life. The one thing he was supposed to be good at, offense, he wasn’t good at that either. Then add in his family….. lol he can stay at Oregon for the next 4 years.

I’m an old guy and didn’t appreciate it either- didn’t think it was that funny or could figure out the purpose. BUT they didn’t just pick on Johnson and Johnson’s uncle was far worse. Johnson was perceived to be a starting guard from day one, believed it himself and found himself not capable of that level of play against college players on the teams we routinely play. These are the issues that many fans blame on coaches for lack of development but sometimes it is what it is.
Popes daughters made a video with one liners about the roster and the players that left. For Jasper they said something like ‘KY til I die or KY til I quack’ and just said “Invisible” when they got to Lowe.What did they do?
How empty must one’s life be to have this level of overreaction to something SO silly, harmless and trivial? Good Lord

Who cares about the players that left, most on here said they sucked anyways. Don’t make a big deal out of what some young girls did. These guys are making big money and they whine and cry like babies. Go watch a game, bunch ball hogs that can’t shoot or dribble.
